In terms of short term goals, I think my short term goals are much like many other college students. First and foremost, I hope to finish out the semester with a 4.0 GPA. I hope to stay focused on my studies and finish out the year strong. I also hope to gain admission into the education program here at Liberty. After this semester is over I plan to return home for the summer and possibly try to find a part time job in a preschool or day care. I am also hoping to enroll in some summer classes in order to complete my long term goal of graduating early. If I am able to take summer courses I hope to do well in them and to continue to maintain my 4.0 GPA. Last, but probably one of the most important, I hope to spend as much time as possible with my family and friends while I am home for the summer.
For the long term I also have quite a few goals. As I mentioned I hope to graduate from Liberty with my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I am attempting to do this in just two and a half short years. Along with graduating I hope to graduate with at least a 3.5 GPA. After I graduate I

I must understand, appreciate, and build on student differences. I must be clear about what matters in subject matter. I will need to adjust instruction in response to student readiness, interests, and learning style. My ultimate goal is to have a differentiated classroom where maximum growth and individual success are the main priority. In order to achieve this goal I must be flexible and make sure that I always have a plan in case something does not work. As Howard Gardner said, “The biggest mistake of past centuries in teaching has been to treat all children as if they were variants of the same individual and thus to feel justified in teaching them all the same subjects in the same way.” (“Differentiation of Learning and Teaching,”
Differentiated instruction adapts learning to the students’ unique differences. It is a must for teachers to learn as much about each student as possible. Understanding students helps guide teachers’ decisions to match appropriate materials and strategies to each learner’s needs. The strategies and activities are student-centered, based on readiness, planned with flexible grouping designs, and changed as needed to meet the needs of all learners. These personalized experiences give students access to all of the information and skills they can assimilate in their learning journeys (Chapman & King, 2005). This approach meets the academic and related needs of a wide array of diverse learners in schools (Edwards, Carr, & Siegel 2006).
My short-term goals will be completed throughout High School. I am taking a lot of Mathematical classes in High School, this year I am taking Statistics and Business Math. Next year I will either take Calculus or Precalculus. I like taking math courses because there is a lot of math in anyone's life time. Also my career choices require a lot of math, most classes they like to see I have already taken. I plan to get high grades in all of my classes so Colleges will take me seriously. One of my favorite classes is Statistics and I have a decent grade in it too. My activities at school include being in the Woodshop Club. It is very enjoyable for me and I hope to do more in woodworking as I grow older as a hobby. Activities outside of school include mainly Boy Scouts and work. I plan to get my Eagle Scout rank and I might go on to get Eagle Palms. I work as a Concrete laborer and I also do some finishing, it is a very
My short and long-term goals are mainly focused towards bettering myself and enhancing my education to be able to better care for people. I believe there is always room for improvement in everything that we do and one should always keep that in
The first question that I asked my host teacher during the interview was “What does it mean to you to differentiate your mathematics instruction?” She stated that she will begin by teaching the lesson as a whole group and when she is finished make sure the students understand before they leave to do anything independently. She will pull groups of students who she knows are not going to understand the material and gives students options. She will give them them the option to either stick around and work with her on the lesson being presented or go work independently. But, she will pull the students that she knows has trouble and forces them to stay with her to work on the lesson that is being taught. She says that often when having the students work independently she can see who understands the material and who does not. The last thing that she said about this topic is that she would rather get to the students before they wor...
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
Similarly, the readings also provide relevant insights about the associated roles and responsibilities that educators have to fulfill in order to create a differentiated classroom. Specifically, it may involve addressing key issues such as communication, assessment, instruction, standards, and other related principles that influence the acquisition of information and learning (Tomlinson, 1999). These elements act altogether to create a classroom that is conducive to change and recognizes the value and potential of differentiated classroom to the needs of students today.
My main goal is to get an athletic scholarship. I won't be able to get one though if my grades aren't good and I can't have that happen. Education will be able to help me continue to do what I love. I plan to keep doing what I am doing in school so I can leave Freeburg knowing I am set for the next few years in my academic and sports filled life.
How do teachers enable all students of varying abilities to reach the same goals and standards established for their grade level? Instruction begins with a concept of treating each student as a unique learner whose strengths and weaknesses ha...
Therefore the teacher proactively plans a variety of ways to ‘get at’ and express learning” (Tomlinson, 2001, p. 3). Planning for a variety of teaching strategies does not mean giving more work to the smart children. Instead the teacher must assess who understands the material, who is struggling, who needs to be challenged and decide what or how to teach the students from there (Tomlinson, 2001). Differentiation should occur naturally and involve individual, class and group work to allow for the differences in all students and all subjects of study (Tomlinson, 2001). Probably the most important aspect of differentiation is the idea of challenging all learners at their level instead of giving extra work to those students whom learn the concepts quickly.
Setting goals is the most important thing you can do in your life. Without goal's you are going to have no direction, no ambition to be successful, no drive to stay in school, and trouble finding a career that will provide for you. Without these three things, achieving your goals is going to be one of the toughest tasks in the years to come.
My teaching career has been spent learning how to provide appropriate support, guidance, patience, & understanding, as well as to enhance academic growth & success, for all students. My purpose as a teacher is to enrich and inspire the lives of young students with moderate/intensive needs by providing access to information instead of functioning as the primary source of information for students to flourish. My teaching methods will be to create an environment ripe with opportunities for discovery and exploration which will allow all students to learn at their own pace, generate questions and construct knowledge, while providing hands-on practice of skills in authentic situations as well as to make learning intriguing and meaningful to all students. Carefully planned and constructed learning environment will also allow the teacher more time to meet the individual needs of each student. Another important factor to a well-prepared learning environment is to facilitate learning, and providing students with balance and consistency (2004). Young students require a balance between various classroom dimensions, including activities guided by the teacher and independent work, quiet work and active work, gross motor and fine motor activities, and open and closed aspects to the curriculum and classroom materials (2004). Consistency is also a required condition for learner success. Schedules (daily and weekly), the enforcement of classroom rules, and student expectations should not be in flux but remain consistent. Without a sense of consistency in the classroom, school life would lack the necessary feeling of safety and reliability young children need to focus, to take risks, and to t...
A person needs to achieve certain goals in one's life before you can call them successful. Success is to achieve goals, you have set. I have set certain goals I would like to achieve in my lifetime. Some of these goals are personal while others are professional. My professional goals in life are to find a good job that makes me happy, get a good education, find a job that makes enough money for me to support my family, and help people. Goals it is very important for me to receive a good education. Most job fields require a descent education. If I don't have an education I would not be able to function properly at the work place and I would not understand what to do. To maintain a good job that will make good money will require me to go thorough schooling or training and maybe even both. Education is the first and foremost way to become successful, because the job I will choose will need me go to school and maybe even beyond college. My happiness in what I do is also a goal for me I my life. There is no way someone can become successful if they are not happy with what they are doing. ...
I have always wanted to make good grades but I never really set any goals but, then I realized that setting academic goals are way more important than people realize . I then started to set goals like my sophomore year of high school after I did that it really helped me focus on my future and what I wanted for myself. My goals I think pushed me so much more academically they opened my eyes a little bit more. One Goal I set was to graduate High school with a Core 40 diploma, which I did, so that is one goal down and a bunch more to go. My senior year I started applying to college but my main goal was to make into Saint Mary-of-the Woods and when I received my acceptance letter I was ecstatic. So far, I am still trying to figure out my academic goals for college but, I do know for sure that I want to succeed in every single way that I can so I can make a better future for myself. A goal that I made this year is to make the dean’s list every single time, for this I will study so hard for every test, do all of my homework, and ask questions when I have them and maybe even getting a tutor. This challenge will probably be really tough but I believe that I can do it if I put my mind to it, and I tend to be a very determined
When planning for our future it is important to have clear goals in mind and to understand the steps that need to be taken to achieve those goals. My long-term goal is to run my own counseling center and employee at least one other person. Some Skills I already possess that will allow me to succeed with this plan are my ability to relate to people and be consistent in following the steps needed, even though it will be a long and tedious process.
According to dictionary.com, a goal is defined as the result or achievement toward which effort is directed. I have two main goals in life. My first goal is to complete college with a GPA above 3.0; my second goal is to utilize my degree and obtain a career that will support a family and myself. My goals are not impossible, but without certain motivation I do not believe that I could achieve my goals. In order to understand how motivation works with the two goals that I have for myself, I must first understand the different types of motives.
