Genetic modification is a technology by which you can change the genetic make up of the living organism such as plant animal bacteria etc. This process is used world wide for different things apart from organisms. The resultant organism is called genetically modified, genetic engineered or transgenic organism.
In general term, Genetic modification of organisms is a biotechnological process that forces genes to behave according to certain characteristics. Changing characteristics of organisms is based on changing their DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid; the acid which carries genetic information in a cell). This is being used for modifying genes in plants, animals or micro-organisms. It is being also used especially with eatables in order to improve the nutritious quality and value, make less use of chemicals such as pesticides in the growing process of food, which proved to be extremely harmful, and sometimes to add flavor. Genetically modified food (GMF) is considered as one of the modern production improvements and the largest food experiments in the world's history. However, it is very vital to dispel misconception about the nature of food. GMF is a mixed blessing with its share of benefits but at the same time may arouse problems. It has many good aspects, such as making plants ripen faster, improving the specie's taste and look good, and providing Third World countries with healthier food at affordable and reasonable rates. Genetic modification of food has won the admiration of a lot of people, including myself, because of its new and attractive accomplishments, but at the same time we should take into account its disadvantages and try to find out ways and means to avoid them. Not forgetting to emphasize that the GMF should contain all the Vitamins and nutrition that we need. We have to put in mind that if people knew all its pros and cons, they will surely get convinced with the idea of producing GMF and consuming it.
At last I would conclude that we should eat GMF a little but no too much. The best way to aware people about this thing is to label and every GMF company should do that. If one of these companies doesn't follow the rule, government should take away the license. If awareness is not created right now and government is not concern about this issue. This big issue will grow larger in future and may kill people in future as a disease.

There have been an uncountable number of papers written on the subject, arguing both for and against. Ronald M. Green's article “Building Baby from the Genes Up” argues that genetic modification has many possible benefits to the human race, such as preventing deadly diseases, and eliminating fears that genetic modification would lead to the creation of a selective “master race” where babies are hand picked to be doctors and athletes by their parents. In contrast to Green is Richard Hayes' article “Genetically Modified Humans? No Thanks.” in which Hayes disagrees with Green, saying that genetic modification would no doubt lead to hand picked “designer” babies, which would destroy the free will and futures of children who were born into their destiny. Hayes' final point, saying that although it is a good thing to use genetic modification to eliminate diseases such and cancer and obesity, we shouldn't go any further than that when it comes to messing with the genes of unborn babies. Although both authors make some great points in their essays, Green definitely makes the stronger more persuasive argument than Hayes, who basically just gives his opinion without backing it up with anything.

The basic idea of genetic manipulation is to isolate a certain cell’s DNA and to mix it with the DNA victor to create a whole new cell with new characteristics. The problem though behind all that, is that its really hard to predict what the results are going to be.
