Therefore, they decided to regard science and technology industry, cultural and creative industries as the important future industrial development. Now, k-pop (short for Korean pop) occupies a prominent place in the world.
K-pop culture is spread from the Asian to international, the spread of the popularity and coverage of the territory is quick. Korean Wave originally from the Korean drama, which leads the popularity of other related Korean industries such as movies, travel, food, cosmetics, Korean, costumes, etc.
Following the diamond model, these are some points of the globalization leads k-pop successful.
1. Unprecedented song, dance, styling. The k-pop idol group is one of the distinctive features. In recent years, the popularity of the k-pop idol group is mostly a group composed of 2-15 men or women who attract fans all over the world with outstanding singing skills, choreography, and attractive looks. The k-pop singer is highly competitive and constantly trying new packaging for himself. Every year, the company published new works to increase his exposure. From the trainee selection, training, and even the debut, each link is organized and planned. Korean artists need years of training before they can make a debut. Entertainments companies also conduct overseas selection to promote internationalize their artists' portfolio. For example, SM Entertainment has held annual auditions in overseas regions such as the United States, Canada, and Thailand since 2006. After the selection, they will sign a long-term contract with their company for a long and rigorous training period that systematically learns the language, singing, dancing, and respond with media and basic etiquette.
3. Close to their fans. Idols will update their daily life on social networking to make their fans feel warm and connected with idols. One thing is special at k-pop culture; the fans of each group have their own unique names and cheer color, in order to create a sense of belonging. As long as there is a concert or public event, it is spectacular to see that the fans taking the same things to support of idols. At the concert or fans meeting, there are lots of interaction between the singer and the fans, for example: shaking hands or throwing gifts.
4. Entertainment companies invited international musicians
For our project, K-POP, we have decided to compare how the digital realm influenced the boom of cosmetic surgery in Korea compared to American plastic surgery, where digital means are a less common tool utilized to increase, accentuate, and bring publicity to this industry. We want to take a deeper look into how Korean pop culture and its technology may be influencing the process one takes to get plastic surgery, such as the advertising it provides for each individual plastic surgery. This is opposite of America, where plastic surgery is more taboo, therefore absent in these spaces. In the Pop Music world, there is one very specific type of music group that stands out amongst all others. This would be Boy Bands. Boy Bands have always dominated and continue to dominate the pop scene. The reasons for this are multifarious and each deserves adequate explanation. The First reason, of course, is the music itself. It has a drawing power that is significant and individual. The natural hormonal allure of the boys themselves is the second reason. The target demographic for Boy Bands is pre-teen girls, and the band’s marketer appeal to this group expertly; they groom and dress and style the boys in the band to perfection. The final reason is their performances. Boy Bands have a habit of putting on stellar, over-the-top performances. The combination of all these aspects in the perfect way produces the awe-inspiring crowd-drawing money-magnet that is the Boy Band.
