The Globalization of k-pop Globalization is a process to integrate the international. Nowadays, globalization has affected the economic, political and cultural, it is a popular concept in our daily life.
Music is a culture and media, a cross-border language and the expression of emotion. All people love music, no matter what kinds of music, as long as it can resonate then it is good music. From the beginning of the music, people constantly to find the ways to listen and enjoy the music. In the 16th century, people would invite musicians to play the music at home or go to the theater to enjoy them. Therefore, they decided to regard science and technology industry, cultural and creative industries as the important future industrial development. Now, k-pop (short for Korean pop) occupies a prominent place in the world.
K-pop culture is spread from the Asian to international, the spread of the popularity and coverage of the territory is quick. Korean Wave originally from the Korean drama, which leads the popularity of other related Korean industries such as movies, travel, food, cosmetics, Korean, costumes, etc.
Following the diamond model, these are some points of the globalization leads k-pop successful.
1. Unprecedented song, dance, styling. The k-pop idol group is one of the distinctive features. In recent years, the popularity of the k-pop idol group is mostly a group composed of 2-15 men or women who attract fans all over the world with outstanding singing skills, choreography, and attractive looks. The k-pop singer is highly competitive and constantly trying new packaging for himself. Every year, the company published new works to increase his exposure. When a new album is released, unique themes, songs, costumes, shapes and even the stage revolve around this theme. From the trainee selection, training, and even the debut, each link is organized and planned. Korean artists need years of training before they can make a debut. Entertainments companies also conduct overseas selection to promote internationalize their artists' portfolio. For example, SM Entertainment has held annual auditions in overseas regions such as the United States, Canada, and Thailand since 2006. After the selection, they will sign a long-term contract with their company for a long and rigorous training period that systematically learns the language, singing, dancing, and respond with media and basic etiquette.
3. Close to their fans. Idols will update their daily life on social networking to make their fans feel warm and connected with idols. One thing is special at k-pop culture; the fans of each group have their own unique names and cheer color, in order to create a sense of belonging. As long as there is a concert or public event, it is spectacular to see that the fans taking the same things to support of idols. At the concert or fans meeting, there are lots of interaction between the singer and the fans, for example: shaking hands or throwing gifts.
