Under the global financial crisis (GFC) beginning in 2008, higher pressures are on leadership. In 2008, after the crisis happening, it is extremely serious. It has become the great depression of the most serious crisis after the 30s of last century. It influenced widely on the global economy. Global financial crisis has destroyed millions of businesses and companies. People who want to find out the resources have aimed to the leaders. The GFC makes many companies, which are looking like strong and high level, bankrupt in short time. A serious problem has come out. Who should pay for these consequences? At this time, the leaders are definitely becoming the scapegoats in some situation. More condemnations including greedy, morally bankrupt, self-interests are on the people who are accused to cause the GFC. The intention of this discussion is to explain the leadership challenges and strategies in a post-GFC world and the society now.it also gives examples to compare the innovative leadership. It will be from different ways to analyze. Leaders are definitely suffering heavy pressures and challenges in 2008’s crisis, such as keeping business and summarizing after. Solutions are also asked on that crisis. First challenge is reacting rapidly during the global crisis. Because of the crisis expend to whole world quickly in 2008, under that situation, leaders are hard to control well. In conclusion, in 2008 crisis, leaders have faced serious challenges and heavy lost of reputation from being blamed. Even though in these years’ crisis nowadays, serious challenges are still in front of leaders. Leadership is always the main control power in one organization. Possible solutions should be taken in companies. Precaution and warning are also necessary. In this writer’s opinion, after 2008’s crisis impacting, leaders should increase the ability about precaution before crisis and ability in crisis because of leaders’ position. it is hard to escape the involvement even though their advices were objected. In that situation, it requires leaders to resolve and reduce the damage to a minimum.
Crisis is an event that is unplanned, unwanted, and dangerous and leads to hard decision making. There are many different types of crisis such as economic crisis, mental health crisis, situational crisis, social crisis, adventitious crisis and many more. Every type of crisis affects people more than we think and know. There is always someone who loses and who gains during a crisis. People who lose are usually the ones who are affected the most such as losing a job, losing a family member or someone close to them, losing their homes and sometimes even their own lives. The people who gain are usually the rich people who prey on the poor and usually gain from making money and the poor’s lives miserable.
All these principles will be useful in the crisis. Be aware of hazards during the crisis. A person should be aware of client’s hands because if they have anything in their hands, there is a risk of getting hurt. Be aware of weapons/chemicals that are in easy reach of the clients. A helper should be aware of escape routes if things get out of hands. Always maintains a safe distance when interacting with others. All this knowledge and information will help me in preventing the crisis and be
Leadership can be defined as the way through which one individual has impacts and influences the attitudes and behavior of other people at a workplace. The tasks of leaders in corporations include organizational as well as departmental activities. Leaders are responsible fr coordination of these activities so as to reach the goals successfully by motivating and inspiring team members. (DUYGULU, Ethem and Ciraklar, Nurcan, 2008). Besides, leaders are supposed to resolve issues by avoiding conflicting situations related to work and strive to boost progress on achieving the overall objectives of a company. Moreover, great leaders provide the required knowledge,
Post-bureaucratic leadership is ‘the process of controlling, motivating and inspiring staff’ (Clegg, Kornberger & Pitsis 2011, p. 126), whereas globalisation refers to ‘the increase in financial integration of economies around the world’ (Clegg, Kornberger & Pitsis 2011, p.612). As such the practice of leadership is an integral component in all aspects of an organization as it can determine the success or failure of a business. According to (Punnet 2004) ‘leadership is a key component of all organizations, but its ability and functions have become more difficult with the rise of globalisation during the post-bureaucratic era.’ This essay will examine how the various leadership approaches have contributed to managing globalisation and the effects
Leadership directly impacts an organization's bottom line, employee satisfaction, and turnover; it can impact how the organization is viewed by society and in particular its marketing audience. This is particularly significant during a downturn in economic markets. Organizations must meet budgetary controls, and need to communicate...
In conclusion, leadership challenges and possible strategies in a post-GFC world have become an important part not only for organizations but also for leaders and managers. In this writer’s opinion, in response to GFC, there are many challenges in diverse areas require business leaders to deal with. Many organizations have created some programs that might help leaders to overcome this crisis.
Our leadership in this world has changed and affected us greatly. Leadership is being about to lead an organization with many people and to have control in the right way. “ The Leader of the Future” a book by Peter F. Drucker gives us information on why and how it is to be such a great leader. We need better leaders and we need them to guide us and help us along the way. Without leadership, our world would be in such danger and we America would be going through a lot.
“Leadership is an influence relationship among leaders and followers who intend real changes that reflect their mutual purposes” (Rost, 1931). But in today’s time, the styles of leadership are changed every time a new technology is invented or discovered so there is lack of persistency. The only thing which manages to stay constant is the principles of carrying out business activities. There are philosophies and ideologies on leadership which can be used in any time period as they are mostly a reflection of the principles of leadership. Theorists and authors like Hobbes (1679), Lewin (1947) and Aristotle (384–322 B.C.), in their time have produced enough material which can be put into use by modern day leaders and managers. Philosophers like Aristotle, who was known to be one of the most business-oriented and practical philosopher of his time, his work is still used by businesses today because of their relevance as he is interested in defining principles in terms of the ethics of leadership (Santa Clara University). In the essay I have tried to show how leadership has adapted to the changes around them and compared to the past and what circumstances caused need to change it. As a layman, anyone would think that the principles centuries ago will be very different to what we follow now but after studying on Hobbes, Lewin and Aristotle it has made a big impact on my way of thinking because the work produced by them still has more relevance compared to some of the work produced now. I have tried to explain the evolvement of leadership through three aspects which are psychology, sociology and philosophy.
With so many constant changes today with different generations, legal and political circumstances and ever-changing and improving technology sources, organizations have new and recurring issues arising every single day. The reasons for these issues vary widely and develop because of so many different situations. The outcome of the situation depends on many factors including the issue at hand, the management style and the ethics of the organization to simply name a few. These outcomes can certainly make or break an organization if not handled appropriately. The issue I have found to be the most significant is leadership.
The communication process is not something that begins when a crisis rears its ugly head rather it is a process that takes place in preparing for a crisis before it happens. While the term crisis represents a blanket term used to describe many situations, each situation is unique, thus presenting different obstacles to overcome. However, with a well-established advanced plan in place an organization places itself in a position to overcome and work around obstacles. The development of a comprehensive crisis management plan is one achieved through effective communication where each member of the crisis management team has an advanced shared understanding of his or her role and responsibility during a time of crisis (du Pr'e, 2005).
In a nutshell, debt crisis should be treated immediately with actions such as providing sufficient training and courses, improving individual’s personal finance skill, and filtering the recruiting of employees’ process in order to prevent it from extent. The upcoming generations should have given more awareness towards this issue. If no immediate actions are taken, I believe in future the debt crisis will get worse.
The case study and readings in this class have painted a clear picture of the various ways one can be a leader, the catalyst that has inspired the least likely to lead to action and the many different capacities in which one is a leader. From the parent whose child is the victim of abuse to the CEO of a major corporation, leadership can spring forth and blaze trails never imagined by others. I learned that on my journey to executive leadership, I can begin leading in my current capacity as an analyst. I do not need to wait to be given the “thumbs up” to lead, as I can be a leader in many ways everyday. Leadership is not about magnificent speaking or major endeavors, “it is about coping with change” (Kotter, p.31, 2003). We all are subject to situation dealing with change daily, it is all about how we cope with it and how others interpret and accept our coping skills.
Leadership is not always in the hands of members and it continually meet with dilemmas and difficulties.
More often organizations are getting into bigger risks in the market with their leaders in nowadays economy. The resistance to change is a reason why organizations trying harder to keep earlier recognized reputation within clients and community. The theme of leadership is relevant for each person as it occurs almost to everyone during the lifetime or to those who at least were a part of a team.
Leadership, without doubt, is a significantly important function of management. It helps to aggrandize efficiency and to fulfil an organization’s goals. Leadership is the ability of a manager to induce the subordinates to work with confidence, determination, courage and zeal. It is also defined as ability to influence a group towards the realization of a goal. Leaders should have the capability of developing future visions, and to drive the organizational members to want to attain the visions. This paper states my points in which I duly believe, justifies the importance of an outstanding leader in any organization.
