Recommended: The role of human activity in climate change
Humans have had many impacts on the planet as a species. Possibly the most well-known is Global Climate Change. However many people refuse to consider the evidence, and continue to peddle ridiculous conspiracy theories. Global Climate Change is not a conspiracy theory because minor climate aberrations, expanding sea ice, and no supporting statistics are all non-legitimate arguments against it. There are copious amounts of evidence to disprove these fallacies.
Many conspiracy theorists will tell that because their area is cold, global warming isn’t real. However this is a false argument, shown in this quote by an expert meteorologist, “The changes to the climate that scientists who are concerned about global warming point out are exactly that: long-term. Individual weather events don't mean that the trend isn't taking place. It's also important to point out that the United States makes up less than 2 percent of the Earth's surface.” As shown in the quote, global warming is a macro scale event. Certain areas being cold at brief time periods in no way contradict the global warming theory. The fact that small areas are experiencing cold temperatures does not affect the total warming of the earth. This misinterpretation of data can be used by conspiracy theorists, as shown by the current sea ice level statistics.
Some fallacies are based on real statistics but use outlandish explanations to interpret them. Conspiracists believe that because, in recent years, sea ice levels have been increasing, Global Warming cannot be true. However this has a logical explanation as shown in the quote, “we show that accelerated basal melting of Antarctic ice shelves is likely to have contributed significantly to sea-ice expansion…observations indic...

...ility to solve these problems, and it is our responsibility to put our full effort to it. But before we at attempt to solve this problem we must acknowledge it exists. So if you see a person claiming Global Climate Change is a conspiracy, show them the evidence which unquestionably proves its existence.

In my refutation paper, I argue against the outlandish opinion of a meteorologist and self-proclaimed, “Climate Change Skeptic”. In his arguments, he attacks the validity of opposing viewpoints, questions the accuracy of data, as well as offers his own theories as to why certain phenomenons exist.
They say there is no evidence and no real scientific organizations accept it. People think environmental organizations are falsifying and exaggerating information about the climate. The majority of those contradicting climate change have never been apart of any actual research and only get their information from those who profit off the things destroying the environment. Some corporations who publicly deny global warming include the American Enterprise Institute, Americans for Prosperity, American Legislative Exchange Council, Beacon Hills Institute, Cato Institute, and many others. Each of the organizations listed are being privately funded by either Koch foundations or Exxonmobil, if not both (Source 12).
There are many things that can impact the economy, but many people would not think that global warming has much of an effect on it. Global warming is continuing to become a very large concern for people across the world. This topic is very controversial due to the fact that many people fail to believe that global warming even exists. In this case, it will often be looked at as climate changes instead.

His argument bashes scientists who he believes had an environmental and political agenda beginning in the late 1990’s to “discover” global warming and make it a great crisis. According to Coleman, it is his belief that scientists and universities working to prove global warming exists manipulated

The subject of global warming is as popular as the president. These both topics have always been hot subjects in everyday life. Global warming is the biggest storm headed in our way. It is also the most important issue of our times. Those ads or public service announcement on TV about global warming might not be the most attractive but the cause behind it is very important. Global warming is one of the major threats our planet is facing. Most scientists prove the fact that global warming is mainly caused by human activities rather than natural cycles. To simplify it, most mechanisms that we use are affecting earth. These mechanisms are created by humans. Therefore, humans are affecting earth.
I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group, it was the data that got me. I was convinced that the people weren’t the ones causing global warming, but when I started doing research I understood that we are the main cause. This paper will tell what global warming is and its causes.
Many people dedicate their lives to spread the message about climate change being real. Even though some change in the climate is natural, many events that have happened cannot be explained away by nature. Climate change is causing damage to the world that is completely irreversible. Nasa says, “Most scientists say it 's very likely that most of the warming since the mid-1900s is due to the burning of coal, oil and gas. Burning these fuels is how we produce most of the energy that we use every day” (nasa). The energy that we use daily makes our life easier, but it hurts the earth. Why does the government still allow us to use these things? Science has shown us that sea levels are rising in many parts of the world. Warm weather is causing glaciers to melt which results in the sea level rising. Earth 's average temperature has been rising for the last century in a half; and there has also been a steady rise in ocean temperature since 1969. It is said that climate control is man made and it is dangerous. On the other side of the argument, many people do not believe that climate change is real. They argue that their has not been a big temperature change in almost two decades. They also bring up the point of there not being enough data in the climate history to draw the conclusion of what is happening in the climate now is abnormal. Scientist started to record climate change around the 1800’s which many people believe is not enough data to do a comparison. Another reason some believe that climate change is not real is because of some instances where a scientist predicts a date of a significant climate change never happens. Rinkesh writes, “ For example:- Al Gore predicted that all Arctic ice would be gone by 2013. But, on contrary Arctic ice is up by 50% since 2012” (conserve-energy-future). Many people find that these reasons are why climate change is not
The Great Global Warming Swindle has been the most widely watched documentary critical of the scientific consensus that climate change is due to anthropogenic activities. Aired in 2007 in the United Kingdom, the documentary claimed to debunk the “myth” of manmade global climate change, exposing it as a vast conspiracy designed to gain funding for research and push an environmental agenda that is especially harmful to the developing world. Directed by British producer Martin Durkin, the documentary includes discussion with a number of scientists who are skeptical of anthropogenic global warming and claim that there viewpoints are being deliberately censored in favor of the politically correct consensus.

Our planet has managed to survive and thrive for about 4.54 billion years. In the last 2 million years we have caused enough damage and destruction to make our world “broken” beyond repair. We will not be able to get back the world we once had. The reason behind this is global warming, specifically, the increase of the global temperature due to the burning of fossil fuels and the release of greenhouse gas emissions into our atmosphere. If we do not make the issue of global warming a priority in today`s society, our entire way of life will be at risk. There are many reasons why so many people believe global warming should be a concern. Thoroughly examined points include: scientific predictions, rising temperatures, human causes, drastic climate changes and animal adaptations. Though there are several points arguing how global warming should not be a concern, the reality of the matter is that it needs to be taken into consideration on a global scale before it is too late, as to do nothing would have devastating implications on humankind.
The earth is a complex system, which continues to evolve and change. Climate change and global warming are currently popular in the political agenda. But what does “climate” really mean? The difference between weather and climate can be conveyed in a single sentence: “Climate is what you expect; weather is what you get.” Based on research of the geologic record, we know that climate change has happened throughout Earth's history and at present, ever-increasing evidence points to the roles that humans play in altering Earth systems. The Earth and its atmosphere receive heat energy from the sun; the atmospheric heat budget of the Earth depends on the balance between incoming solar radiation and outgoing radiation from the planet; which has been constant over the last few thousand years. However present evidence seems to suggest that the recent increase in temperature has been brought about by pollution of the atmosphere, in particular the release of huge amounts of carbon dioxide, mostly through Anthropogenic Forcing (human activity) and other various internal and external factors.
