In the Global Catholic Climate Movement, it mentions the claim of policy, which is, “climate change is caused by human actions and will very likely have catastrophic consequences if not tackled urgently.” I felt very alarmed by this because we live in a society that continues to consume and produce, and the government doesn’t prioritize climate change as something worth resolving. In my opinion, the United States focuses solely on business and profit that it neglects the health of its citizen and the possibility that there will be no future. Although the government is not directly making a change, there are environmental activists out there, which is where the Sisters of Mercy come into play. The biology aspects of water is that it makes up 60% of the human body and 71% of the earth is water. Without this liquid, there will be no life on Earth because animals, humans, and plants cannot stay hydrated. Also, statistics show that people can live longer without food, but water is a necessity. Hence the warning for travelers to bring a lot of water when traveling through the desert or Grand Canyon. The lesson is that water is a symbol for healing because it is a component that keeps life going.
On the other hand, for Jesus it represents how he is a powerful and holy figure, which is exactly like water because when I have a migraine, water cures it. Just like the men on the boat, I was also “filled with great awe” because only things and people that are considered magical can instantaneously change something. Their status doesn’t matter because Jesus was born from Mary, and both of them were considered commoners in the hierarchy. However, God speaks to them and lends them both powers that people ask, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” It is similar to people who take water for granted, they don’t know how effective it is until it surprises them, which is why to me Jesus and water are the
