Many animals that make light have special cells where chemical reactions create a glow. Glass squid, for example, have patches of these cells around their eyes. The light they issue will now fill in the shadow their eyes would have otherwise cast. A firefly, in contrast, has a clump of these cells in the last segment of its abdomen. They all glow at once to make a bright flash. Where those cells are and how closely they are spaced will depend on what the animals do with their light. The variety is a bit “like all the different types of lights you find at Home Depot,” The glass squid cells that emit light look like thin cables, each about 50 micrometers long. That’s about the width of a human hair. They seemed to direct their light downward,

Squidward Tentacles is an employee at the Krusty Krab. He is a 34 year old male. He resides in Bikini Bottom. His hobbies include playing his clarinet and painting multiple pictures which he has false hope will one day be published in some museum. He has hatred for going to work, and is horrible with customer service. He exhibits a strong desire to fit in with a higher caste than himself. There have been many episodes though where when given the chance to prove himself worthy of a higher caste he will retreat to a safer place like his house. His esteem level seems very low. He never leaves his house other than for work either. He hates being social and that’s very obvious in every action Squidward carries out. He rarely dates and when he does there is never a second date. He is a healthy man of his age. He really doesn’t have many friends. There is his two neighbors Spongebob Squarepants and Patrick Star, they want to be friends with him but Squidward can barely tolerate either of them. When he is sad he usually turns to his music, painting, or bubble baths which he takes very often. His life goal or aspiration is to be a famous artist and musician. He’s a very smart individual but has absolutely horrible social skills.
A glow stick is a self-reliant, instant light source. It consists of a translucent plastic tube containing secluded substances when combined can produce light. It does not require any extra external energy sources. The light cannot be turned off after it is “lite”, but it is said that glow sticks can actually be used again by putting it in the freezer overnight then cracking it once more. Glow sticks are used in many ways some for emergency settings, recreation, entertainment, and in the military because they are portable and easy to activate. If you have seen a glow stick you will know that it is quite fascinating how the tube lights up with the bright glow. But just how exactly is that possible?
An example would be the firefly squid, which has thousands of photophores, or organs that emit a deep blue

The Mysterious Giant Squid About 80 percent of the Earth is covered in water. With the majority of life on this planet residing in the liquid we like to call the essence of life, we as humans represent a minority on this planet. Much of the underwater world remains a mystery to us, with the giant squid being one of the greatest mysteries of them all. How close are we to actually solving the mystery of this deep water giant? For the first known citation of one of these creatures, you would have to go back to November of 1861, when crew members of the French dispatch steamer Alecton spotted what appeared to be a large sea monster off the coast of the Canary Islands.

Jellyfish are monsters of a sort. Jellyfish can distort things and shut down whole systems of government when they come in swarms. There are several types of jellyfish but one can have devastating effects. The everyday monster of the jellyfish causes fisheries to lose money, clogs power systems to shut down due to the masses of them and can shut down water filter systems. Jellyfish affect other fish and will kill people easily with their sharp points. Their tentacles are deadly weapons when jabbed with their points. The problem can be solved when the natural ecosystem is the same and jellyfish eats their prey.

When people think of parrots, they think of the rainforest and when they picture fish, they think of the ocean. No fish could survive out of the water and no parrot would survive in the ocean. Everyone would think they would be completely different animals and there wouldn’t be an animal with both bird and fish features. Despite this thought, the blue parrotfish makes its home in the tropic oceans. Most people haven’t heard of a blue parrotfish, but it has many unique features that are interesting and help it stand out.

Behold my true prize possession when I was on vacation this year. The item I am going to show you today is a shell from Saint Lucia. Last summer, my family and I took a trip to Saint Lucia for a week. I played at the beach, swam in the pool, enjoyed the food and scenic beauty, and went shell hunting. When the sun was at its highest point in the sky, my brothers and I would go shellfishing. The crystal clear ocean made it so much easier for the shells to show its true beauty. I picked one up and threw it away because it was hideous. Not that one, oooh definitely not that one. But there it was, the most perfect seashell I have ever encountered. It is your normal old and traditional seashell that you would find on the beach but so much
Genetic modification has been around since the early 12,000 BC, when humans started domesticating organisms. Genetic modification also known as, Genetic Engineering is The process of manipulating genes for practical purposes. Modern Genetic modification started in the early 1970’s and since then people have been genetically modifying organisms, from fruits to animals. An organism that has been genetically modified is GloFish. GloFish is a patented and trademarked fluorescent fish.
That rainbow you see on the ground when oil lies on wet pavement, that captivating swirl of color glimmering on the outside surface of that bubble, or the shimmers of color on the back of your favorite CD; its iridescence and is displayed in quite a few critters in the animal kingdom. Iridescence essentially an objects ability to show different colors when viewed at different angles. When you look at the animal kingdom you see this property in many species of animals, insect exoskeletons along with bird feathers are the most common display of iridescence, but also fish scales and oyster shells demonstrate an awesome array of colors. For the purposes of this paper I will specifically be looking the iridescences in the exoskeletons of the most diverse group of insects on the planet, beetles (Order Cleopetra) and how this eye catching pattern has evolved to help them survive and thrive throughout evolution.
