Girl, Stolen is a book by April Henry. It is about a blind, sick, 16 year old girl that gets kidnapped while her mother went into the store to fill her medication. She has to find a way to escape without being caught, but the only thing keeping her from doing so is she is blind and can’t see her way out of the house. A sixteen year old girl named Cheyenne Wilder was sleeping in the back of her stepmoms car, when she heard the car door open. She didn’t think it was her stepmom and turns out it wasn’t. The car door shuts and the car begins to drive off. Then she realized that the car was being stolen. She couldn’t see who the person was, because for the past three years, she has been blind. She could tell it wasn’t her stepmom because the person didn’t say anything until they figured out that she was in there. The guy that kidnapped her tells her that his name is Griffin. He takes her to a house out in the middle of nowhere where he meets up with who he said was a guy named Roy. Roy is Griffin's father. Griffin then finds out that she is the daughter of the CEO of Nike. Griffin find out who she is and he says how about we keep her for ransom. Roy calls her father and tells him to give him a couple million dollars for exchange for his daughter. The deal …show more content…
works and Roy sets up a way to keep his identity a secret. Roy goes and gets the money while leaving Cheyenne and Griffin alone.
Cheyenne figures that after he gets the money that he still won’t let her go. Griffin figures out the same thing and tries to help Cheyenne escape. She didn’t know he was going to help her so while he was sleeping she hit im in the head with a wrench and runs out of the house into the forest. She realizes that her plan isn’t very good because it is snowing and she is sick. Griffin catches up to her knowing that his dad isn’t that far away looking for her. They keep walking to a road when griffin steps into a hole covered with snow and breaks his ankle. He cannot walk on it so he points Cheyenne to the road and helps her get away and get
help. Cheyenne makes it to the road and a car passes in just a few minutes. The car pulled over and says he is a cop. She gets in and then realizes that the man is Roy. She manages to get him out of the car and lock him out. She drives a little bit but she can’t see so she stops. She uses Roy’s phone to call 911, and in just a few minutes an actual cop shows up and Cheyenne is saved. The theme of Girl, Stolen is never give up and keep trying. This is the theme because when Cheyenne was kidnaped she never quit trying to escape for Roy and Griffin. In conclusion, I give this book a eight out of ten because it was a good book but it had a lot of details that were left out. I recommend this book to someone who loves to read mystery and kidnaping books. I would also recommend this book to my friend Reagan Couch. She relates to the main character Cheyenne by never giving up and she keeps trying to do whatever she can to make whatever she is doing great.

A hit was put out on Taylor and Zavala by leaders of the Mexican drug cartel because they were becoming a nuisance. This hit was carried out by the same Latino gang members who had previously done a drive-by shooting of a rival gang. The officers were enticed towards their imminent deaths with a car chase which was set up by the Latino gang members. This chase led them towards an apartment complex which was rigged with many gang members and artillery to ensure that neither Taylor nor Zavala would survive. The two were ambushed but decided that gunning their way out was their best option. When the officers made it to an alley they were met by another Latino gang member who fired at Taylor and Zavala, hitting Taylor once in the chest before being shot and killed by Zavala. Kathryn Allamong Jacob’s “She Couldn’t Have Done It, Even if She Did,” reflects America’s history of inequality and gender stereotypes that greatly affected society’s mindsets, even when it involved murder. Lizzie Borden was an upper-class, gentile, unmarried woman who still lived with her father and stepmother at the age of thirty-two. Being an active member of her community and part of the Women’s Christian Temperance movement, she fell perfectly into her stereotypical role as a beloved daughter who, unable to devote her love to a husband, devoted her time and energy to the betterment of her community. Lizzie, being a wealthy and moral woman, could never brutally murder her father and stepmother, she was incapable of even thinking of it, or was she? Jacob’s story of the murders of Mr. and Mrs. Borden in 1893 describes how gender stereotypes can influence the minds of a nation and how the public and media influence, male dominated court hearing, and refute of evidence all lead to Lizzie’s full pardon.
