Overview of Gilbert, Arizona
Gilbert, Arizona is located near phoenix Arizona. It is the sixth largest municipality in Arizona. Gilbert has a population of roughly 230,000 people. An interesting fact about Gilbert is its been voted the second safest city in the United States for 2017 according to the FBI uniform crime report data. Gilbert was also awarded the most prosperous city in the U.S. Gilbert spans over 76 square miles. Gilbert has also seen a roughly a 13% growth rate on average over the past 30 years. To keep the city on the same path its been following Gilbert has one of sixty Accredited Economic Development Organizations (AEDO). The AEDO helps raise capital for projects and also help where the community is in need of the most help. …show more content…

Gilbert also has an unemployment rate of 3.1%, where as the national average is 4.1% which is great to be lower than average. As you can tell Gilbert has many positive things going for them including their financial position.

Letter of Transmittal and MD&A After reviewing the letter of transmittal and the MD&A it is very clear on the economic condition of Gilbert. Gilbert is a striving city that only looks to keep its trend of growth and all of factors that have been seen in the previous years. For starters in the letter of transmittal during economic development Gilbert has won many awards, which helps, solidify that Gilbert is in fact thriving as a government. Gilbert has won many awards such as “Most Prosperous City in the U.S.” along with “Best City for Raising a Family”; this list goes on about how great Gilbert is. The government as a whole is doing very well from what we can gather from all the information gathered. The biggest highlight that we saw was in the MD&A that Gilbert’s assets exceeded its liabilities by $1.7 billion.
