Al pasar el tiempo vemos cómo ha cambiando el entorno de las organizaciones, la competencia cada vez es más feroz, los gerentes son más capacitados y la tecnología hace que el trabajo se reduzca. Ya en la actualidad una organización que desea ser exitosa debe destacar un de Gerente de Operaciones; ya que es clave para cumplir con ciertos objetivos. La función de operaciones ha de relacionarse con la producción de servicios y bienes. Tanto los bienes como los servicios resultan de procesos de transformación de análisis externo e interno. El análisis externo se destaca la competencia, economía, clientes, la toma de decisiones y hasta la tecnología. La comunicación es otro aspecto que el gerente debe estar capacitado para cumplir con sus objetivos en lo que respecta a servicio y toma de decisiones. "Lograr una buena comunicación y una alta seguridad son desafíos que existen en todas tentativas para sostener toma de decisiones estratégica, ya sea utilizando los modelos formales o no" (Akkermans & Bertrand,1997). En el análisis interno se dispone de la cultura y características organizacionales. También se consideran recursos disponibles para definir objetivos. "No solo es necesario pensar en el nivel de los bienes, si no también en el nivel de información" (Schemenner, 1998). El gerente de operaciones resalta tomando decisiones sobre eficiencia y efectividad.
Todo Gerente de Operaciones debe poseer ética, conocimiento y destrezas para desempeñar responsable y exitosamente su profesión. Su ética profesional debe estar presente en el desarrollo organizacional, investigación, análisis, planificación, operación y control para el mejoramiento del sistema de operaciones y materiales de la empresa. En la actualidad las empresas han creado una mayor conciencia sobre los aspectos éticos. La visión de que corporaciones están reconociendo aun más sus obligaciones éticas, más allá de la conformidad literal con la ley, es suministrada de encuestas realizadas por ejecutivos corporativos y actividad administrativa dentro de las corporaciones (Di Lorenzo, 2007).
El objetivo del Gerente de Operaciones de Cingular Wireless y su centro de servicio al cliente, donde laboro, esta en la efectividad de tomar decisiones éticamente al momento de desarrollar una estrategia. Al hacerlo la compañía asegurara su supervivencia y prosperidad. Por ejemplo cuando se utilizan estrategias para atacar los puntos débiles de la competencia. Conocemos que hoy día el mundo de las comunicaciones se ha convertido más fuerte cada día.
Mobile is the first order priority device for access because people are connecting with others, finding entertainment, and doing business—all with smart phones. The prices of mobile phones are never over $1,000 in today’s world. They are affordable and accessible. As the result of the changes the worldwide and national business environment has undergone, people own 1-2 cell phones on average. However, the mobile markets in US seems to have been saturated.
The changes in the technological can influence many part of societies. When the AT&T Company introduce their new product and services which is wireless and wire line technology will effects occur primarily through the new products, processes, and materials. Thus, changes in technological also often can achieve higher market share and earn higher return because, newly emerging technology from AT&T could derive competitive advantages. For example, internet today becoming more remarkable capability to provide information easily, quickly, effectively, and also can create more value for customer in the future and to anticipate future trends.

“Management is a process of planning, organisation, command, coordination, and control” (Morgan 2006, p.18). Rational organisation design is a bureaucratic method of management which emphasizes efficiency to achieve the end goal and the management of multiple companies have taken upon this system. Figures such as Frederick Taylor and Henry Ford have both shown and laid a path way for Rational Organisation which has become known as Taylorism and Fordism. The design has received criticism and both Taylor and Ford have been portrayed as villains with Taylor being called “enemy of the working man” (Morgan 2006, p.23) as the system dehumanised workers by taking all of the thought and skill from them and giving it to the managers this is because the tasks given were simple and repetitive. As staff needed little training they became an easily replaceable asset and thus more machine than human.
In the article entitled “The Human Side of Enterprise” by Douglas Murray McGregor , McGregor stated that industry has fundamental know how to utilize physical and technology science. The conventional view of management consisted of three propositions which are called Theory X (Shafritz & Hyde,2012).
Telecommunications gained mainstream attention in the early 90’s; however the initial key market was business men and women, who used their phones whilst being on the move and so allowing them to communicate with their companies with ease. Though in the modern era, telecommunication went through segmentation in the market trends, and now in this day and age it would be difficult to find someone who does not own some form of mobile technology. The market is sensitive since it encounters stiff competition from competitors such as the Samsung, Techno and other mobile producing companies. Nike is made up as a matrix organizational structure, which consist of several specialists and some individuals report to at a minimum of two managers. Two classical approaches to management are Taylor’s scientific management theory and Weber's bureaucratic management theory. Both men are considered pioneers of in the study of management.
