It is usually easy for people to talk about their strengths, a person should think highly of themselves and would have no problem boasting of skill or previous achievements. When it comes to weaknesses that’s when a person has to really think because no one wants to think of the negative qualities about themselves. Although sometimes in life things don’t go as planned and as perfect as it sounds everyday cannot be sunshine and rainbows. It rains, thunders, hails, and even floods but this doesn’t mean that all hope is lost. As humans we have a natural instinct to survive we adapt and we learn and move on. For instance a huge problem growing up for me was bullying. The only problem was I wasn’t directly being bullied my friends were and I did …show more content…
Geology was our last class and it was the day we got to examine sedimentary rocks with microscopes. It had almost seemed as if nothing was wrong and everyone was having fun no name calling, or fighting, or anything it seemed like a great end to such a bad day. I cheered up Xavier as much as I could and we even started making fun of the upperclassman as we walked towards the bus. The bus driver wasn’t in sight but it was usual for him to step off for a break so we proceeded to the back laughing and giggling as we found our seats. Suddenly 4 upperclassman entered the bus spotting us immediately they shouted “what’s those two kids doing in our seats”. Before any words could exit our mouths we became to get up but they rushed us making it impossible to …show more content…
A loud crash came from the bag as they opened it up to see what made the sound his pottery was destroyed only leaving a rainbow of pieces all over the floor. Laughing the bullies taunted him and began making fun of him for his creation. I sat and watched knowing that I should stand up for my friend but not having the courage to do so. A moral dilemma unwrapped in my mind but yet instead of speaking up I remained hidden only to watch my best friend be bullied and targeted. He broke slowly he began to cry the bus driver entered the bus and forced the bullies to get off. I tried to talk to Xavier but he refused to speak a word to me a situation I would soon come soon to regret became of the most critical points in my life today. Xavier transferred schools the following week leaving me in a place all alone which I soon began to call prison. The bullying didn’t stop there but a new principal was found and it did bring peace to the school after his new anti-bullying system was put into place but before I could know how much school has changed my family made the decision to move to New
At the beginning of this essay I told a story about the bully and how you stood up to the bully because of your vision to make the neighborhood a better place. What a shame that you ultimately lost your fight because of your inability to remain ethical during the battle.
After reading Strengths Finder 2.0 by Tom Rath, I learned that there are thirty four different themes that one could have as strengths. Each strength has its own positive that allow people to better work with the people who have this style of strengths. Another key topic that I learned is that everyone has their own types of personal strengths. The main principle that was taken away from reading this book was that the old phrase of “You can be anything you want to be” is not a true statement (p. 6). We are all taught this idea at a very young age and it tends to stick with us for the rest of our lives. Forced by the past, most people are required to try to fix their weaknesses, but not improve on our strengths. We cannot truly be anything we want to be because we are not built this way. We are programmed to tend to stick with things that we are good at and when thrown at a task similar to the one we are good at we do not just excel at the other task. By sticking to increasing our strengths that we already have instead of fixing our weaknesses, we will be able to become a better human being because we are better the things in which we are good at.
I believe that everyone has their own strength and weaknesses, but not everyone is able to figure out their strengths and weaknesses correctly. Knowing our own strengths and weaknesses is essential because it can help to achieve success in anything we choose to do. For me, my weakness is the time management, communication skills and weak in preparing effective Curriculum Vitae (CV) Below will be further explaining all my personal weaknesses and the ways to overcome it.
The weakness I portray are very difficult for me to think of. I know that I have quite a few but to change them is something that I have not full conquered yet. A weakness I know I have is sentence structure. I am not very good at putting sentences together and making them strong and well developed. Another weakness that is obvious is word choice. I don't always know the exact wording to use in different parts of a paper, this makes it hard to understand sometimes not very well written.
These strengths and weaknesses were mainly discovered through the papers that we have written. I have many strengths when I’m writing papers and at the same time, I have many weaknesses. In my papers, I have noticed that one of my biggest strengths is how articulate I am. The papers that have been written by myself show that I structured sentences to present ideas in different ways. It is not straightforward and boring when ideas are presented. I like to keep the reader hooked on my paper. In order to keep up with this strength, I like to read articles. The articles I read are typically the ones that present new ideas or start arguments. This is one of my strengths that I am very proud
After understanding, and coping the problem a person can deal with their problem at hand by perhaps writing it down or writing about who hurt them, according to Melanie Tonia Evans, “this is self-recognition that will assist you in healing and reclaiming your right to perfect love, success and happiness.” A person can feel as if they were abandoned, unwanted, unloved, or forgotten. The most important thing though, is to stay positive about themselves at all costs. When a person loves themselves and is happy with their life it can make everything much easier and healing can begin. “Once you have validated and learned what you can from the experience, you can let it go and move forward. This won’t happen all at once. Those imprints are still there, and they need to be replaced with healthy, positive ones,” (Dania Vanessa.) The dysfunctional experiences that a person has from their childhood can pose as a learning experience that shaped someone into who they are now, from the hardships they
Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. As Roth states in Strengths Finder 2.0, we as a present day world tend to focus on and try to overcome our weaknesses rather that building up our strengths. Using our natural talents can help us do the best we can and help us be a better asset. After taking the strengths assessment, I found that my top five strengths themes ended up being: relator, discipline, competition, responsibility, and significance.
My top five strengths are both great and damaging to myself. My talent for achieving and competiveness guarantees that I am never satisfied and constantly needing to rise to the top. While these are great strengths to have, it qualifies that I never able to truly rest or feel the satisfaction of a work well done because I am already moving to the next hurdle. However, these strengths are great for...
For personal and professional growth, given my personality traits, I need to embrace my strengths and weaknesses. I must use my strengths to my advantage, to be more effective academically and in the workplace, but I also need to identify and try to overcome my weaknesses, especially professionally.
Growing up as a victim to bullying for something you have no control over can deteriorate
Writing about my personal strengths is a challenging task that requires me to focus on the strong points that make up my character. However, to attack my weaknesses, is to challenge myself to take control over the areas that need some redefining of certain skills to make greatest success in life. My life is not defined by weaknesses, but more so the makeup of my personal strengths.
To begin, I am going to write about my weaknesses and how they transitioned into strengths. First, I remember after each assignment in class was introduced I
Our planet is a powerful and unpredictable place; attempting to understand its behaviour and history for the benefit of others is why I want to study this field of science. A trip to America cemented my love for our planet. I remember travelling through Death Valley and thinking that it was alike to travelling on the surface of Mars. I found it inspiring to think that one of the richest cities in the world lays a stone’s throw away from such a desolate place. It’s a testament to humankind that we have progressed to the level where geology shouldn’t dictate where we establish ourselves; however, it is always a precarious situation when dealing with the Earth and decisions should never be taken lightly.
When people think of geology, they usually think of rocks and fossils. However, geology is actually a very large field of study. The knowledge of geologists ranges from rocks and fossils to the moon and other planets (Hammonds 7-8). Geologists use a variety of subjects in their work, but the sciences and math are the most important. Some of the sciences geologists study are physics and chemistry (12). English is also a subject that geologists use when communicating with other scientists, the media, and the public (12) . Because of these tasks, it is important for geologists to have a wide knowledge of these different subjects.
I believe that life is a learning experience and being able to recognize our own strengths and weaknesses can help us become better individuals in anything we choose to do, whether it is positive abilities and skills that can help achieve our goals or negative personal areas that need improvement. Knowing yourself and what you can do, can help you recognize and overcome your weaknesses.
