The word "computer" was first recorded as being used in 1613 and was originally used to describe a human who performed calculations or computations. The definition of a computer remained the same which is an electronic device for storing and processing data, typically in binary form, according to instructions given to it in a variable program. Until the end of the 19th century when people began to realize machines never get tired and can perform calculations much faster and more accurately than any team of human computers ever could. Charles Babbage is the father of computing after his invention and concept of the Analytical Engine in 1837. With a basic flow control, and integrated memory, the first general purpose computer concept was born. It was later that, Charles’ son Henry Babbage completed a portion of this machine and the computer was able to perform basic calculations. Having no invention of a computer, the Babbage are known as the father of computing is due to the ideas and concept he visualised at that point of time. There are 5 generations of modern computers each ranging about 5 years. the First generation of computers is between the year of 1940s to 1956. The Second generation is between 1956 to 1963. Whilst the third generation was between 1964 to 1971. We’re currently in the Fourth generation (1971 till present). The fifth generation is from now and beyond. The first generation of computers dated during the Second World War. Rich governments sought to develop missiles and cannons using computers to exploit their strategic needs. This increased the funding for computer development projects. In Germany, Konrad Zuse developed a computer named Z3, to design airplanes and missiles. Not to mention, in 1943, the Briti... ... middle of paper ... ...rallel processing and superconductors are helping to make artificial intelligence more applicable. Quantum computation and molecular and nanotechnology will undeniably be part of the computing system in years to come. the goal of fifth generation computing is to develop devices that respond to natural language input and are capable in self- recognition. Communication has changed because of computers. 9 out of 10 times, we would rather email or socially interact with someone, using the computer or even documents, are now meant to be typed than written for easier storage. With computers, we are able to work quicker and more efficiently because of the advantages it provides. Humans are comfortable with what we have and we need the computer to advanced to another generation. The more developed the computers in the coming generation, the more develop our lives may be.
