General Electric Life as we know it today is primarily the result of the innovation of modern marvels from the most pivotal company of the 19th century. General Electric,GE, happens to be one of the most innovated companies of all times, with groundbreaking advances in science and technology. GE scientists and the world’s brightest, are focused on finding solutions to the world’s toughest problems in energy, the medical field, transportation, finance, and in everyday home life. GE has over 304,000 employees worldwide and has founded 67,588 patents. That is even more patents than the US government. GE’s number one commitment centers itself on Eco imagination by reducing its environmental foot print, and therefore striving towards economic growth. What is the first most basic necessity that a majority of most people would say they cannot live without? The power of electricity is likely the most popular answer. Thomas Edison is the individual responsible for transforming modern life as it was known back in 1878 to 1879 and as we still know it today. When his newly formed company, Edison Electric Light Company, brought forth their vision and imagination, it forever changed creation. This devised a way to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy, which would forever set the course of this industry. General Electric was eventually formed by a merger with Thomson-Hudson Company in 1892 to become a prominently significant company. Over the course of the next several years, General Electric spent their planning various projects that put electricity to use on a much larger scale. Culture GE’s culture is about “providing everyone who works here with opportunities to exercise their responsibility, integrity, and creativity while growing themselves, their careers, and our business,” (Life at GE, 2014). In addition, GE says their culture is nothing but commitment to their employees and their customers, and wish to be the ideal place to work. They want to provide "unrivalled leadership" while having an energized environment for training. Along with their culture comes their values and behavior; for them that is their formula for success. The table below shows what they expect from their employees and how their behavior should be when they are at work.
