On Sunday, April 24, 2016 at around 8:30 pm, the Gautier Police Department recieved a tip by phone that Willie Anderson Jr. (DOB 3/13/1980) was at 1824 Wyndote Dr., Gautier, MS. Charges were signed against Anderson Jr. earlier on the same date for Grand Larceny (SS 97-17-41) and an arrest warrant was issued for him. Lieutenant Rodriguez, Officer Stirrat, Officer Parker and myself, Sergeant Bever went to the address on Wyndote Dr. to arrest Anderson Jr. We arrived on-scene at around 8:50 pm. K9 Justice and I approached a black male sitting on the front porch of the residence. I asked him his name and he stated it was Willie Anderson. In the Lexington, Kentucky a drug operation occurred at an apartment complex. Police officers of Lexington, Kentucky followed a suspected drug dealer into an apartment complex. The officers smelled marijuana outside the door of one of the apartments, as they knocked loudly the officers announced their presence. There were noises coming from the inside of the apartment; the officers believed that the noises were as the sound of destroying evidence. The officers stated that they were about to enter the apartment and kicked the apartment door in in order to save the save any evidence from being destroyed. On Friday April 24th J.P. Walker, Preacher Lee, Crip Reyer and L.C. Davis got into Reyer’s Oldsmobile and they took off on a mission to kill Mark Charles Parker. (3 other cars of men followed) They went to the courthouse/jail in Poplarville and they could not get in. So they went to Jewel Alford’s House (The jail keeper) to get the keys to the Jail. Alford went with the four men to the courthouse. When he got there he went in and down the hall to Sheriff Moody’s office and got the keys to the jail. He opened the door to the jail and Lee, Reyer, Davis, Walker followed Alford into the jail. Alford then opened Parkers cell and Lee and Davis pulled Parker out of the jail and courthouse to the Reyer's Oldsmobile. Alford then left and the men got into the car.
- on June 23, Williams was driving when a heavy car came up from behind him and tried to force his car off the embankment and over a cliff with a 75 ft. drop off. The bumpers of the two cars were stuck and the cars had to pass right by a highway patrol station, which was a 35 mile and hour zone, but the car was pushing his at 70 miles per hour. Nashville police department received information that a suspect in a car bombing case, as well as some illegal, stolen equipment, could be found in the home of Mary Cooper. A few law enforcement officers were dispatched to her home. The police officers went to Cooper’s home and asked for permission to enter the home, but Cooper refused, without a search warrant. Two officers left and two were still at the resident of Mrs. Cooper. A few hours later, the two police officers returned with more police officers, waving a piece of paper, and broke open the front door. The city coroner was contacted and responded to the scene. The coroner identified the deceased as 23 year-old Rod Dixon. The coroner inspected the victim and relayed he was shot four times at close range. I made contact with a witness who stated he saw four black men in the park last night. The method I would use to find the suspect (s) in the shooting began with the witnesses accomplishing written statements on what they saw or heard and look at a lineup of photos to help identify the suspects.
Intuitional theory it’s defined in different ways for instance, “Institutional theory addresses the central question of why all organizations in a field tend to look and act the same (DiMaggio & Powell, 1983).” This definition illustrates how organizations change their response to their institution based on the environment, and can achieve stability in their own. An organization when it comes to surviving tents to turns its focus outwardly in order, to acknowledge their influence constituencies and the value that they represent. Police agencies are ideals samples of an institutional organization, for the reason being that they have to display in their organizational performance and policy’s that they care about citizens concerns.
This is a true story. It happened to my African American cousin. He was innocent by all means, but someone felt threatened by the color of his skin and the way he appeared so much that their first instinct was to call the cops. Mass incarceration is based upon the institutional discrimination that black and brown men face each and everyday. My cousin’s first instinct was to stay calm, don’t seem guilty. Racism and police brutality goes hand in hand, and causes a major concern in today's society, in the United States. On March 3, 1991 in California, Rodney King an African American, was pulled over after a high-speed chase, and after stopping was beaten by four white police officers (Worsnop 635). Tracy Brock also an African American was arrested in Manhattan in November of 1986. An officer smashed his head through a plate glass window, when Brock refused to go into the officer’s lunchroom (Police Brutality and Excessive Force in the New York City Police Department 14). Ki Tae Kim a Korean grocer was assaulted when he was accused of passing a counterfeit bill. He was punched in the face, his head was slammed into the counter, and the officer also subjected him to racial slurs (Police Brutality and Excessive Force in the New York City Police Department 17). Marcos Maldonado a Latino grocer was mistaken for a suspect after an armed robbery to his store. He was handcuffed, thrown to the floor, repeatedly kicked, and beaten with the officer’s nightstick (Police Brutality and Excessive Force in the New York City Police Department 17). Abner Louima a Haitian immigrant was arrested outside a dance club in Brooklyn, and was brutally assaulted when he arrived at the police station. Volpe a long time police officer was accused of shoving a plunger into Louima's rectum so far that his bladder and intestines were lacerated. Then he shoved the plunger into Louima's mouth and broke his teeth (Steinback 8). These are just a few examples of the people who were affected of police brutality, and racism.
The Uniform Crime Report, which was developed in the 1930s, is commonly used by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a record of crimes committed all across the United States. These crimes, which fall under two categories, Part I and Part II offenses, are reported by local police to the Federal Bureau of Investigation each year. Part I offenses are considered to be the more serious of crimes recognized by society. Such examples of this are homicide, forcible rape, robbery, arson, motor vehicle theft, etc. Part II offenses are those that are considered less serious, such as fraud, simple assault, drug abuse, gambling, stolen property, embezzlement, etc. Part I crimes can also be subdivided into what are known as violent crimes and property crimes. The report included testimony from Officer Darren Wilson, physical evidence, forensic evidence, and many witnesses. According to the Department of Justice report on the incident, Officer Darren Wilson was driving after finishing one of his calls and saw Michael Brown and his friend walking on the double yellow line in the middle of the street blocking traffic. According to his account, officer Wilson told them to move to the sidewalk in which they ignored. He then noticed they fit the descriptions he had earlier heard of the suspects of the robbery, he then parked his vehicle blocking traffic. He attempted to get out of his vehicle to speak to the boys but apparently Michael Brown blocked the car door and started to punch the officer. They engaged in a scuffle where Officer Wilson reached for his gun in which he claims that all he had access to. Michael Brown tried to take control of the gun, according to Wilson’s account. In any given setting, police officers are responsible for maintaining order within a, sometimes overly chaotic, society. They are given the responsibility of acting as protectors of the defenseless and upholding justice, at the risk of injury to themselves or even the loss of their own life.
