It wasn't until I began GCSE that I ever began to think of maths as something to take further in life. I appreciated the satisfaction of getting questions right after working through the problems. I then went on to take a level math which was a small leap from GCSE as we started to study new concepts. Working through the more complex question has helped to enhance my ability to analyse information which I believe will apply to all aspect of life. I’m interested in taking an accounting and finance course at university because I feel that it will fuel my logical and ambitious nature.
At the end of year 10, I undertook work experience at Barclay's Bank which also inspired me to continue with maths and led me to think of pursuing a career that

Week four of the course has been about the finance of film. One concept that I have found interesting is the idea of soft money. The idea that the government gives money to ensure that national films are made that will support the local economy is something I had not considered before. One particular part of the concept that intrigued me was the idea that in the U.K. Films have to pass a cultural test to receive funding from the government. This course has given me an insight into the industry and enriched my learning outside of school. yu. I have also enrolled in a course that I am looking forward to that is due to start later in the year. This is an ALISON course on the behavioural finance. One reason why I am particularly interested in this course is that it is looking at the psychology behind traditional financial and economic theories. The combination of psychology with finance is what attracted me to the course. During the summer holiday, I will have the opportunity to shadow a finance employee for a marketing company. This will give me a different perspective of finance which I believe will give me a well-rounded view of the financial sector. I have decided to this as it will give me a more recent real-world understanding of what the financial sector is like which I believe is important as I want to do an accounting and finance degree at
There are a lot of reasons why I chose to pursue pharmacy as my career and they all point to the most important reason: pharmacy is a great fit for my life and is something I have become increasingly passionate about. It started when I was researching careers with my parents and my dad suggested pharmacy and, simply put, it sparked my interest because at the time it was one of the few things I thought I would not hate doing. A healthcare career has always been where I put myself in the future, mainly because most of my family members are in the healthcare field. However, I have never been one that could directly help the wounded or deal with anything gory, but am very intrigued by the growing science of pharmacy. As I continue exploring pharmacy, the more I enjoy learning about it and feel like I could excel in this career.
In my freshman year, I won an internship with GF Securities, one of the first, full-service investment banks in China. By participating in several IPO roadshows for NEEQ (National Equity Exchange and Quotation) Listing in Shanghai and dealing with clients’ requests for option trading, I developed a thorough overview of practical capital rising procedures as well as the function of various financial instruments. Later, I sought a more globalised experience by joining the General Electric(GE). In the process of organising the new machine launching conference, I have fully utilised the cross-communication skill that helped the manager to reconcile the needs and expectations from different retailers. In this summer, I gained an opportunity to work within the Guangdong Internet Finance Association. It provided me with a valuable insight to the emerging internet finance industry and made me think prospectively toward the future business model of financial institutions. These highly diversified internships not only enriched my ability to work independently as well as in a team, building upon the criticism and implement ideas, and but also widened my horizon that inspired me to approach the problem from different perspective and reach a more objective
Throughout life one takes countless journeys and comes to appreciate new experiences and life lessons. Being raised to understand how to value a dollar and what a dollar is worth gave me insight into the world of finance. Therefore, there is no inquiry why finance caught my attention. For four years I have studied hard to comprehend wealth, currency, financing, and funding through my education of receiving degrees in Finance and Accounting. However, I by no means wanted an occupation where one consistently does the same task on a daily basis with no space for growth. I yearn for a profession that can take me to new encounters and new understandings; and for one day after visiting Disneyland I knew precisely what I would embrace.
My personality and personal experiences have helped me to decide upon accounting as my chosen major. Before I immigrated to the United States in 2010, I had a small business in China for more than nine years. This experience and my desire to be an entrepreneur taught me the importance of accounting. In order to manage my business well, I attended a course in basic accounting at a local training institute. While in training, I learned that I loved working with numbers and applying financial analysis to economic issues. I have a passion for finance, economic issues, accounting principles, and the world of business and this has guided me to pursue an accounting major.

The Florida Comprehensive Achievement Test (FCAT) is the statewide test that measures the academic achievement of public school students towards meeting the Sunshine State Standards benchmarks. The quarterly Reading and Mathematics Benchmark Assessment exams gauge student achievement on individual strands based on these Sunshine State Standards, which school districts require schools to administer to students within the appropriate content area. Teachers and administrators pour over the information at the conclusion of the exam and the data mining gets underway. The data is analyzed and scrutinized and teachers present their interpretation of the data to the administration to determine what modifications need to take place within their classrooms. The teachers, principal and school district utilize the data obtained from the Benchmark Assessments to determine the level of student achievement within the classroom and create a strategy that will target those benchmarks in which student performance was low. The vital issue with the data driven classroom is the effectiveness of the teachers and administrators at interpreting the data from these high stakes tests and constructing a successful plan that guides instruction based on the needs of the classroom, which continuously change.

In 2015, I was selected to represent Lasswade High School at the annual Enterprising Mathematics Challenge. In a team of four pupils we explored maths in the real world, created a presentation on buoyancy and solved maths problems in various activities. As the highest scoring team in Midlothian, we attended the final held at the Glasgow Science Centre in November during which a talk from an actuary sparked my interest in actuarial science. The opportunity made me realise that I could combine my love for both mathematics and actuarial science in the future. I have always had an affinity with maths, especially the application of maths in real-life problems.
Every day, many people question my passion for pursuing accounting as a profession and the first answer I think of is that I am good with numbers. However, advancing in the field has made me realize that my passion is not only based on figures. Growing up as a kid, I was privileged to have a piggy account where I would save as little as fifty cents per week. Since my parents rewarded me in monetary value as a positive reinforcement in cases of good behaviour, I was motivated to maintain good manners so long as my savings increased. As time went by, I realized I had saved way “too much” money for a little child. The challenge came in the management of the funds because I was focused on spending more on pleasurable activities. However, the guidance of my parents enabled me to prioritize on the more important things and save more. I took interest in managing may own account as a child and even pursued accounting courses in high school. The interest grew deeper because I gained more insight on the facts about accounting and the career. Also, I believed that it is career that one would be self-employed thereby avoiding the dilemmas of lacking jobs after graduating. For instance, one would easily start their own business and manage their finances comfortably.
This career peaks my interest since in this role I will have the opportunity to construct my future and I will never stop learning. The constant innovation in finance is commonplace and it creates a work-day that is fast paced and so with this career, I see a promising future. This career interests me also because I will have the chance to practice what I have learned in school and the career places a premium on consistent results, rigorous analytical ideas or thoughts,
If you don’t have a deep background in accounting, but if you are strong in math, then don’t worry, you’ll be able to pick it up fast enough once you’re on the job. If you do have a background in accounting, then it gives you a nice edge.
I dealt with strategy and financial matters for our virtual enterprise, while my colleagues were working on marketing and manufacturing. During the four months of the exercise, I have experienced finance from various aspects: capital budgeting, through selecting favorable investments for upcoming quarters; debt management, by assessing the necessary amount and efficiency of loans; profitability analysis and dividend policy, which have been used to compile the company’s general performance index. Working in a multinational team, which included an American, a Norwegian and a Moldovan, strengthened my negotiation skills, as well as flexibility and cooperation. But above all, this experience intensified my passion for finance. Of course, a pleasant bonus was the fact that, in the end, our company’s financial performance was six times the performance of the second-best team.
My interest in Accounting and Finance stems from wanting to understand how governments and businesses make their vital decisions to be profitable. Studying this degree, will allow me to gain an understanding of financial accounting, management accounting and taxation providing me with skills to analyse data and develop my decision making. Additionally being able to incorporate different aspects of business alongside the core modules; will give me more knowledge of the world of accounting and finance.
