The nursing field is characterized by constant change in that its extent keeps expanding to accommodate novel evidence-based outcomes. The society occasionally is presenting new issues hence obliging nursing researchers to relate the occurrences to clinical and educational adaptations. RWJF, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is among firms that have critically examined the future of nursing and emerged informative prediction. This paper looks at an initiative started by the foundation and tries to relate the obtained IOM (Institute of Medicine) report to the future of nursing. The effort looked at the potential of enhancing care quality and accessibility while cutting down on the cost through including various stakeholders in nursing, and by utilizing Nursing-led Solutions (Campaign for Action, 2011). The proposal developed in the report involve ensuring that caregivers practice to their full capacity of knowledge and skills. Further advice includes a seamless education system to be created so that nurses could learn and train continuously. Additional recommendations required nurse practitioners to engage entirely in redesigning health care alongside other health care providers. Having been the profession with the highest number of practicing professionals in health care, nursing was chosen as the most relevant profession to impacting the kind of care that patients received. The report concentrated on various notions of nursing including education, practice and the workforce. It aimed to re-conceptualize nurses’ responsibilities in the setting of nursing shortage, societal affairs, and use of technology. The RWJF committee also investigated the possibility of increasing the capacity of nursing schools and transforming the education system so that an appropriate number of nursing practitioners who were highly-skilled get generated.
