For our theatre class we have to explain the process from conception to the presentation of a play. In order to understand this process one must understand that a director conceptualizes the play and inspires the company of artists to join together in collaboration. One should also consider the preparatory phase, the implementation phase, the presentation, and the people involved to help bring out the theme and concept for the audience. It is crucial to follow the phases involved in a certain order because each phase transforms into one another until the final product is how the director wants it presented.

It is important to collaborate as a group because it is early enough where the director can reject the ideas they have proposed as a group. Also, in the implementation phase the director positions the actors on the stage to make sure the timing is right. It is important to make sure the characters entrances and exits are on point. As everything starts to come together the director begins to act as a coach. Another key component in the implementation phase is the pace of everything, which creates suspense and style. In the final rehearsals the director’s responsibility is to focus on coordinating everything. This means bringing together all elements in a final technical rehearsal. If these phases weren’t followed in the correct order the presentation would not flow in the correct way. Elements that are added during the coordinating stage includes the scenic design, lighting design, costume design, makeup design, sound design, timing, and pacing. During the scenic design a designer uses materials such as platforms, draperies, and props to make the scenery realistic or metaphoric. During the costume design, the designer makes sketches and oversees selection of materials to realize the image on stage. The costume design also reflects the world of play and individualizes the character. This also ties in with make up design because it suggest psychological states, and age of the characters. All of these elements are rehearsed so the director, producer, dramaturgy, and designers can make changes if they need to.
