Shakespeare’s world-renowned story, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, is a story of love, hate, trials, tribulations, and fate. Focusing on the theme of fate brings to center stage the story of Romeo and Juliet’s first meeting, their short time together, as well as their endings. While not all love story’s end in a unified death between lovers, many are based of fate and destiny, where the couple is meant for each other. Specifically, the poem Red String of Fate and the article on the story of Abigale and Dwayne Shoppa. The poem The Red String of Fate by Awesome Annie highlights the idea that people are meant for each other. While Romeo and Juliet is a story of extremes, it can easily be related to the simple story of two lovers. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo meets Juliet for the first time at a party that he wasn’t even supposed to be at. Romeo is a Montague and the party was for the Capulets, and with a long-lasting feud going on between the families, it was a risky bid showing up in the first place. Romeo also was reluctant to go, but Benvolio, being the good friend he is, wanted to cheer Romeo up and made him join. In my nonfiction article, Abigale wanted nothing to do with the fundraiser that was going on, where people bid on a date and the money goes to charity, but her sister knew better. She forced her along and knew she had made the right decision after bidding on Dwayne at the fundraiser. Both end up the same way, where the couple end up falling in love. After their meeting Romeo and Juliet married the very next day. They marry extremely quick, they knew they were the right ones for each other, and were ready to commit to each other. In the non-fiction article, Dwayne and Abigale eventually married each other and committed to a lasting life together.
