Another Good Day Gone Bad

I slowly pressed my foot down on the accelerator as I approached the passing lane. I was tired of following the old man in his beat up, gold station wagon at 50 miles per hour. I needed to get to school! I was right behind him when I topped the hill and entered the passing zone. That's when I saw it...

The warm April morning was just what I needed to refresh my mind. I had been stressed about schoolwork and was trying to keep up with all of my activities. The nice sunny morning made everything seem right.

I started the day at 6:30 a.m., when I was rudely awakened by my screaming alarm clock. I pounded on it until I found the "snooze" button and rolled back over to catch a few more minutes of sleep. I then remembered I needed to shower and shave before I went to school, so I had to get up.

I had my usual breakfast, which consisted of a cinnamon roll and a glass of water. I was running a little behind, but I still had plenty of time to make it to school. I went to brush my teeth, but I had to wait for my sister to get out of the bathroom, which made me even later. I grabbed my bags after I finished brushing my teeth, and headed out the door. I got to my pick-up and remembered I needed a new lunch ticket, so I ran back in to get a check from my mom. I flew back outside, jumped in my pickup, turned the key, and heard an annoying grinding noise coming from my starter. I called it an obscene name and tried it again. This time it started, and I was on my way.

I left my driveway and started my thirteen-minute journey to school with my radio blaring the latest news. I didn't find anything worth listening to, so I dug around in my seat and found my "Country Mix" tape. I put it in and began listening to one of my favorite songs. As I was "jammin' out," I realized what a good day it really was.

I made it about four miles out of Crawford when I caught up to an old man in a piece of junk wagon.
