Slavery affected many African american people back then. While slavery was going on people who were brought into slavery escaped successful or got caught and return to their slaveholders. People who were against slavery and on how they shined light on the American slave system. First, People who defended slavery may have thought is that they wish that they weren’t buying into slavery. Also they we whipped for no reason and begged for food and water from their slave masters. They worked long hours and what they got in return is a little food and water.
