Freak the Mighty the book and The Mighty the movie hame many similarities. All the characters are the same. Both Kevin and Max were neighbors. They were both friends. Have you ever seen the homeless people on the street? Did you know that they have lives and families? What would you do if you had the opportunity to get to know and help these people would you help or would you not care?In the book The Soloist Steve tries to help one of these people but it's difficult the man Nathaniel is homeless and sick.Watching and reading the movie and the novel there were plenty of differences and similarities. One they changed was Steve.
For starters, the ending of the movie was very different from the book. Instead of Vera hanging herself and everyone ends up being dead like in the book, the director of the movie makes a plot twist to make the movie end with two survivors. Philip Lombard and Vera Claythorne are the two survivors who find out who the killer is. They are the only ones alive to escape. Another small change that occured was when some of the victims died for example, Emily Brent. Instead of expecting that everyone dies and there being no resolution, the director decided to make that change so that there could be hope for the
An example of their adventures is when Kevin mouths at Tony D. and his gang, defending Max and himself; after of which he discovers that Max could not have fought Tony and incredulously questions, “You mean you couldn’t take him and I was giving him lip?” (31). Kevin’s words reveal his trust in Max. He incited Tony, believing Max would be able to protect the both of them. The boys’ next conflict, an encounter with Iggy, the head of a troublemaking motorcycle gang, and Loretta, his wife, show Max’s concern for Kevin and his wanting to keep Kevin safe: “I feel real bad for Freak because he hated it when people try to rub his head for luck, but I don’t say a word, I just run us home, thumping the short way back around the pond, and my big feet never trip me up because I’m on automatic, I’m this running machine” (72). Max is very attuned and sensitive to Kevin’s feelings, an important quality in a friendship. Also, his desire to protect Kevin and keep him away from Iggy and Loretta prevent his clumsiness from impeding his speedy progress to home. The conflicts Freak the Mighty encounter prove the boys’ undeniable teamwork and
Freak the mighty is a very unique book. In the book there are 2 main characters, Max and Freak. Max is big and a little dumb while Freak is tiny but very smart. Although they are very different , they become the best of friends. Feak is unable to walk so he rides on Max’s back. Theygo on many adventures, Freak will be the navigator and Max will listen to Freak. Max’s father is a criminal named Killer Kane. His father going to be on parole because he was good in prison. Max is now worried because his father might come back.
Although there are similarities and differences in the novel and the movie, I liked that Gene was crazy because he caused Finny. Both works of art demonstrated a good representation of the true message from John
The novel Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick is about two boys and their friendship. However, the movie spinoff titled The Mighty is the same but has a visual example of what the story could look. Though the scenes are similar, some scenes are cut out, changed, or maybe even added.
The book and the movie are two different things both are remarkable in their own way. The book captures the period of adolescence and the sexual tension extremely well. It also captures the time period of the seventies well too. The movie has really good acting and the emotion of a family. It's realistic and the dialogue seems typical of an average family, which is what the movie is trying to portray. The movie and the book are two perspectives looking at the same story. It's impossible to judge which is better, but instead respect them both for their merit. The story behind both the book and movie is excellent. What makes it extraordinarily good is that all characters seem so real. Moody did a stellar job of humanizing the characters. This makes the story behind the book and movie so easy to relate to. The Ice Storm in any form of media is time well spent.

Into the Wild, a novel written by Jon Krakauer, as well as a film directed by Sean Penn, talks about Chris McCandless, a young individual who set out on a journey throughout the Western United States, isolating himself from society, and more importantly, his family. During his travels, he meets a lot of different people, that in a way, change his ways about how he sees the world. There are many characteristics to describe McCandless, such as “naïve”, “adventurous”, and “independent”. In the book, Krakauer described McCandless as “intelligent”, using parts in his book that show McCandless being “intelligent”. While Krakauer thinks of McCandless as being “intelligent”, Penn thinks of McCandless as a more “saintly” type of person.
What if you could live forever? In the movie “Tuck Everlasting” this a question the Tuck family wish they could answer. Although this is a question that revolves around the movie and the book, there are many differences between the two. Some details from the book were changed in the movie to make the story better. The movie “Tuck Everlasting” is more promising than the novel because of Winnie’s age difference, the more comical escape scene, and multiple other minor tweaks.
Mystic River is a crime novel went straight to the bestseller lists on 2001 written by Dennis Lehane. The reproducing film Mystic River by Clint Eastwood also won countless Awards. As Lehane points out in his interview with Linda Richards: “ 50 percent of the reviews has said this is not simply a crime novel.” Which obviously pleased him. The psyches and nature of human are the most fascinating parts in his novel. In the story Dave Boyle was abducted as a child and being molested. He lives under struggle and shadow for his entire life. When his childhood friends Jimmy’s daughter being murdered, he became the prime suspect. But who really is the murderer? Dennis Lehane makes this cliffhang the cadenza in his story. Dave Boyle is no doubt the central character in Mystic River. Dennis Lehane gives Dave Boyle a really complex life story and an unpredictable personality, but Clint Eastwood simplifies this character, which also simplifies the plot, making the movie less complete.
From reading the book and watching the movie, I think the book was more insightful, but the movie was more entertaining. The only problem with the movie is that you don't know what is going through Chance's mind and his background information. The movie does help make some things clearer by seeing it, instead of just picturing it in your mind. The added scenes in the movie helps to put some humor into the story and make it more entertaining. By just watching the movie, some people could be confused if they don't know some background on Chance. I think that by reading the book, you can understand the story better and by watching the movie you can enjoy the story better.
In the novel Big Fish by Daniel Wallace, we are told the story of Edward Bloom, a man of many adventures, who is somewhat of a myth. Big Fish is a collection of the tall tales Edward tells his son about his life, and also of the effect his tales had on his son. The novel comes from an American author from Alabama, while the movie comes from Hollywood and is directed by Tim Burton, who is also American. This story is not an ancient sacred text, so the story’s function(s) is to entertain and to make money.
