There's no way to know just by looking at someone if they skipped dinner the night before, or chose not to eat breakfast that morning. People who can't afford to eat every meal, or even eat when they're feeling hungry, shouldn't feel embarrassed. 1 in 6 people in the U.S are hungry. And by hungry I don't mean there's half an hour left until they get their lunch break, what I mean by hungry is they work through their lunch break because they don’t have a lunch. There are many ways we can help the hungry such as donating / volunteering at your local soup kitchen, being more generous and kind to people, and organizing and donating to food drives.
Food insecurity being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. Soup Kitchens are one way to help the over 42 million people living with food insecurity in the United States (Feedingamerica.org.) Now they’ve come a long way since then but still have the same goal in mind - help people in the community. But the downside to them is, they’re not free. There are multiple ways that you can help a soup kitchen in your community, whether that be volunteering to help there or donating any extra money you don’t need to the less fortunate. For example, Three students in Michigan teamed up with the two Jimmy John's in their area, so they did a fundraiser for an entire day here 10% of all of the proceeds went to the proceeds went to their local soup kitchen.
