The book Flush, the interesting story by the affectionate author Carl Hiaasen. The story starts off with a boy named Noah goes to his father’s local jail cell. He is in jail because he sunk a 70-foot casino boat. He was sure that the boat’s owner Dusty Muleman has been flushing its sewage into the seawater to save money. All casino boats have to flush their sewage in a proper manner, and it is required by the law. Now Noah is determined to prove that Dusty Muleman is dumping his sewage tank right into the water. He is sure that he is doing illegal work because they never had to close Thunder beach. He partners up with his sister Abbey, Lice Peeking Noah’s Dad’s friend and Shelly who is Lice’s girlfriend to catch him red handed. Until then his father is in jail.

We humans are selfish and only care about our needs. We have destroyed thousands of plants and animals with our impact. We have cut down many trees and used them as places for buildings. We have killed many animals for food for us to eat. As we keep on doing this we will be on the verge of a food and water disaster. This is bad for our earth, and we should start protecting it. In the book, Flush they show Dusty Muleman dumping lots of poop into the ocean, just to save money. Doing this will spread the disease to the people and destroy the ocean’s reefs. Upton Sinclair was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 20th 1978. Sinclair grew up in a broken household; his father was an alcohol salesman and killed himself drinking. While his mother would not even think about drinking alcohol. So these personalities naturally clashed. This was just temporary as Sinclair would need time and money to move higher up to a form of better education. The Book written by John Broome, Talks about how we as individuals should understand, the full effect we are having, on our environment and ethical issues brought on by our emissions of greenhouse gases. He goes into a lot of detail describing the moral injustice we have caused for the future generations, and many humans today. If we continue to destroy the earth by emitting CO2 in the air, global warming will continue to melt the polar ice caps; we face a crisis that can potentially kill off thousands of people. Broome’s main issue in the book Climate Matters is the moral injustice of Knowing we are doing something wrong and not doing anything to change, because of our transgressions. Broome believes; many people throughout the world will be displaced, because of the constant rising seawater, and many people will die if we continue down this path of destruction. It may not seem like your contribution of CO2 into the Atmosphere can hurt anyone, but when nobody is doing anything to stop it adds up and can have a major effect upon many people around the world. The book Climate Matters was written to shed light on what is considered ethically unjust and what we need to do in order to stop us from destroying the planet, that has provided us with life. One principal argument the book makes is, if we are moral unjust do we need to do something to stop this and does being morally unjust mean anything to people now days or has world become so selfish that we have lost sight of what is right and wrong.
In chapter seven of Carl Hiaasen's book flush precise words were used to help the reader connect with the text. In this chapter the main character's dad was interviewed and his mom is thinking of getting a divorce. One example of this is when the author used the word rummaging, instead of looking. It gives you the feel that something is lost. Another example of this is when the word snooped was used instead of sneak. This gives the feel of looking for something instead of just trying not to be seen. Additionally another example is when faint was used, instead of weak. Growing up Ellison loved to read and write due to the perhaps DNA inheritance of his father who liked to read so much he couldn’t wait to read his next saga. Ellison’s mother had a passion for bringing home books and magazines from houses she cleaned, at her one of many jobs she had to make end meet as single mother/widowed. Soon after his father died from a work related accident. Ellison was only three years old and his mother was forced to pick up extra jobs to take care of Ralph and his brother so they can make ends meet. In 1933 he left Oklahoma to study music at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. He did not graduate, due to tuition fees being high. From there he moved to New York in 1936, where he was influenced by the Harlem Renaissance culture.
As a human race I could not with a good conscious say that we have all done that is possible to preserve our planet. I believe it partially should be blamed on our lack of knowledge on how we are actually affecting it. If you ask the common college student results prove that most would say they care to a certain extent. However, they also know that they are just one person in this world.
