The book Flush, the interesting story by the affectionate author Carl Hiaasen. The story starts off with a boy named Noah goes to his father’s local jail cell. He is in jail because he sunk a 70-foot casino boat. He was sure that the boat’s owner Dusty Muleman has been flushing its sewage into the seawater to save money. All casino boats have to flush their sewage in a proper manner, and it is required by the law. Now Noah is determined to prove that Dusty Muleman is dumping his sewage tank right into the water. He is sure that he is doing illegal work because they never had to close Thunder beach. He partners up with his sister Abbey, Lice Peeking Noah’s Dad’s friend and Shelly who is Lice’s girlfriend to catch him red handed. Until then his father is in jail.
To start, The author Carl Hiaasen was born on March 12, 1953, in Plantation, Florida, a rural suburb of Fort Lauderdale. He was the first of four children born to Odel and Patricia Hiaasen. In 1976 he was hired by the Miami Herald where he worked for the city desk. Today he writes books for adults and children. He won the John Newbery Award, Dilys Award, and much more. The part which I found the most interesting was how Noah’s dad stood up for the well being of animals and nature. For example, he sunk the Coral Queen, because he wanted Dusty to learn not to pollute the water and destroy the environment. Throughout Carl Hiaasen’s books, he has shown superheroes that take risks to help the environment or do the right thing. I felt surprised when I saw Noah’s Dad still staying in Jail even though he did the right thing. He could have gotten a bail, but he was trying to prove his point. Carl Hiaasen is trying to tell us that we could be superheroes if we help the environment, just like Noah’s dad did. Noah is an average kid, but he is wise. This is proven because he tries to think and form a plan of how to trap Dusty Muleman because he knows that thunder beach was not dirty before he the Coral Queen had come into operation. He also gets his sister, Lice Peeking, and Shelly to help him prove that Dusty is doing illegal work. In fact, people, especially kids don’t think and grasp ideas quickly as Noah. Noah also is just like his dad, because he stands up for what is right and wise know and does the right thing. In this way, the Carl Hiaasen teaches kids to be wise. I feel that Noah and his team will try to get on the boat (somehow) and hide in the bathroom then when they see him flush the holding tank they can take a picture of that and then show the coast guard or the cops that they are doing an illegal job. Then when Dusty goes to jail, his father comes home and gets a bail for his good actions. He also will find out the true state of his grandfather who got lost. His dad will get his job back at the taxi company. That is what I think is going to happen in the story. I liked the fact that this book is a story of true heroes because realistic fiction stories like Flush does not tell you how you can do the right thing and this also tells us the truth about the world, not just about the characters. For example, it told facts about how dumping human feces can destroy the reefs and sea life underwater. I did not like the fact that this story talked too much about how people take too many risks just to do the right thing, even I wouldn't take too much risks. In fact, Noah’s Dad was doing stupid things like staying in jail for longer even though he punished Dusty Muleman. This is how I feel this book shows too many risky things just to do the right thing. In today’s world, people don’t care about the environment, because they only care about money.
We humans are selfish and only care about our needs. We have destroyed thousands of plants and animals with our impact. We have cut down many trees and used them as places for buildings. We have killed many animals for food for us to eat. As we keep on doing this we will be on the verge of a food and water disaster. This is bad for our earth, and we should start protecting it. In the book, Flush they show Dusty Muleman dumping lots of poop into the ocean, just to save money. Doing this will spread the disease to the people and destroy the ocean’s reefs. He wants us to know that the human impact on the environment is severe and he shows how we should stand up to protect it and it is our duty as
humans. The deeper message of this book is to do the right thing. Even in the hardest circumstances, we still have to do the right thing. If you help someone else, they will help you when you need it the most. You feel a sense of joy, satisfaction, and excitement when you show integrity. It shows who you truly are and tries to make you an even better person. Doing the right thing is hard because the situation might be really tough on you or you just don’t want to do it, but doing the right thing is better. If you do the right thing you will become a superhero. That is the deeper message of the book, Flush.

The Book written by John Broome, Talks about how we as individuals should understand, the full effect we are having, on our environment and ethical issues brought on by our emissions of greenhouse gases. He goes into a lot of detail describing the moral injustice we have caused for the future generations, and many humans today. If we continue to destroy the earth by emitting CO2 in the air, global warming will continue to melt the polar ice caps; we face a crisis that can potentially kill off thousands of people. Broome’s main issue in the book Climate Matters is the moral injustice of Knowing we are doing something wrong and not doing anything to change, because of our transgressions. Broome believes; many people throughout the world will be displaced, because of the constant rising seawater, and many people will die if we continue down this path of destruction. It may not seem like your contribution of CO2 into the Atmosphere can hurt anyone, but when nobody is doing anything to stop it adds up and can have a major effect upon many people around the world. The book Climate Matters was written to shed light on what is considered ethically unjust and what we need to do in order to stop us from destroying the planet, that has provided us with life. In this chapter the main character's dad was interviewed and his mom is thinking of getting a divorce. One example of this is when the author used the word rummaging, instead of looking. Anthropocentrism is the school of thought that human beings are the single most significant entity in the universe. As a result, the philosophies of those with this belief reflect the prioritization of human objectives over the well-being of one’s environment. However, this is not to say that anthropocentric views neglect to recognize the importance of preserving the Earth. Before industrialization really jumped into place and had an effect on large cities, nature had its own way of cleaning up its own air and itself. Wind scattered gases, rain washed many substances and the rest dissolved into the ground; while plants absorbed carbon dioxide and made it into oxygen. With big cities growing more every time and with more towns that were becoming more industrialized a lot of more waste began to be released into the environment and the atmosphere and soon this was more than enough for nature to handle. In order to stop and reduce pollution people need to understand the damage that it is causing our environment and our planet as well. People need to be more aware of how they can help out and do their part in reducing these problems that are causing our planet to die slowly with people not even noticing it.
