Over the past few years a debate between Flash and HTML5 has been gaining more attention as HTML5 becomes more developed and polished. Flash has been the web standard for websites since the late 1990’s but HTML5 is quickly gaining ground and is considered by some as the standard of the “future”. Another aspect of the debate is whether or not we should go with open web standards or closed, Flash being the latter. Even though 85% of the most-visited websites run on flash, HTML5 is the future because HTML5 combined with javascript and CSS3 offers the same capabilities as flash and HTML5 can avoid many issues that Flash faces by being open source.
Flash first appeared in 1998 and was created by Adobe Systems. Flash quickly gained popularity and became the standard for web development shortly after. Flash uses the ActionScript programming language, which allows developers to create web animations and websites that were far superior to anything that was developed using HTML at the time. With the new development of HTML5, developers can now create the same level of animations and websites that were previously only able to be achieved using Flash. HTML5 is a synthesis of several technologies and has a broad potential developer base, which is part of the reason that it is gaining in popularity. 99% of PC browsers support Flash, but most new mobile phones and tablets that are being released do not support Flash, which is one of its biggest drawbacks. Browser support of HTML5 has been steadily growing as we switch to the future of the internet/mobile devices and is currently at 40% of all browsers. Flash has always had a commanding lead on web videos but lately people have been switching to h.264 and HTML5 playback instead. In the past 5...

Flash! Flash! Flash! Flash! Flash!
The transition from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0 ushered in major paradigms shifts in the software industry. Software evolved from being a licensed product to being a subscribed web service. Development efforts slid from the tight control of specialists, for example systems analysts and programmers, towards a collaborative project between end users and technology experts. Learners are now required to teach themselves and teachers are there to facilitate the learning process. The dissemination of knowledge and wisdom would gravitate away from the puritanical filters of rigorous scholastic scrutiny towards a mashed-up crowd sourced assembly such as Wikipedia. Personal websites would now encompass a social networki...

Some will find the reason is convenience, others for content, and a growing number for the cost savings. Those who are willing to invest a little time and effort can reap the benefits of enhanced content or significant savings if they are willing to cut the cord.
The only format on the Internet that offers something remotely similar to Youtube is Netflix and Hulu but that’s exclusively to movies and doesn’t offer all the platforms Youtube does. Both Netflix and Hulu are both very accessible which is similar to Youtube. Youtube has shown that they are taking over the TV and internet world by offering tutorials on anything one could think of doing, gaming channels that use Youtube as a platform have their own channel called Youtube Red and also their own music channel as well. This type of platform has never been created before and because it’s all under one system it’s easier for people to get to whatever they want to watch or listen to.
1) Web 2.0 is a collection of technologies that enable us to create and provide services to end users in innovative ways. It's not only about the technologies that are used, but about the new ways that it enables large numbers of people to come together to collaborate, share, and build. The term Web 2.0 was invented by Tim O’Reilly, founder and CEO of O’Reilly Media. According to Tim O'Reilly: http://radar.oreilly.com/2006/12/web-20-compact-definition-tryi.html, 2006. “Web 2.0 is the business revolution in the computer industry caused by the move to the Internet as platform, and an attempt to understand the rules for success on that new platform.”

In 1991, the World Wide Web was introduced to the world. It was developed by Tim Berners-Lee, a British computer scientist for the European Organization for Nuclear Research (Naughton 58). The company used hypertext markup language (HTML) to link information from computer to computer all throughout the world. It allowed people to jump easily from one computer’s resources to another (Gralla 169). In 1993, web browsers were initiated and it brought overwhelming growth to the internet (Naughton 61).
