If a solid foundation of leadership is not applied the objectives, goals, customer service, quality, and, productivity will be lost and result in inadequacy for the corporation. To become a truly effective leader, one must encapsulate the various behaviors related to the aforementioned course learnings in his/her persona and demonstrate such behaviors daily. This course has allowed me to identify four behaviors that all leaders must portray to be effective. The first of which is that a leader must be inspirational. To do so, a leader must set the appropriate vision and direction for the organization and provide a path to achieving defined goals. Additionally, a leader must induce the proper levels of motivation so that each employee has sufficient incentive to work towards the organization’s goals. As discussed in the class, motivation can be accomplished by factors such as rewarding hard work and providing the correct opportunities to employees. While these are motivating in that employees desire to be fairly compensated and to be doing work they deem valuable, inspiration comes more from organizational culture. A leader will be inspirational by setting a tone that appreciates each employee’s contribution, no matter how small in scale it is. Further, employees are inspired when they work collaboratively in a group setting and can capitalize on individual strengths to drive organizational goals.
Credibility may be the most important aspect of leading effectively. Group members must believe and trust their leader; this does not happen overnight. Leaders must have a good reputation amongst group members Conger (1998) explains that leaders become credible from having intellectual competence, interpersonal competence, and personal character. Leaders should possess good judgments and is very knowledgeable in their field. Leaders must be able to work well and collaboratively with others. They show themselves as credible when they display a good work ethic and want the greater good for the team than for themselves.

HRM Practitioners have involved in quite a lot of study to understand employee engagement and its impact on the performance of the organisation. Credibility holds significance in a leadership position. According to Kouzes and Posner, the foundation of leadership is the act of credibility (2012). Without credibility, organizations can deteriorate. The lack of credibility in a leadership role creates mistrust and ill feelings towards leaders. These burdens constituents carry, disrupts the organization of being successful. Leaders should full understand credibility. Credibility is earned when leaders set example and commit to their words (Kouzes & Posner, 2012). When credible is present within an organization, constituents are more motivated, committed, and feel a strong sense of team spirit for their company (Kouzes & Posner, 2012).
However, such resistance could be addressed by communicating the objectives, participation, support and manipulation and coercion. There is no question that good leadership and management can have that truly brings significant impact on organisational performance, both in the immediate and longer term. Whatever their specific management and leadership skills need, employers must take responsibility for ensuring that leaders’ and managers’ skills and capabilities, at all levels, are effective and aligned to the organisation’s strategy.
To exercise effective leadership, the individual must meet certain parameters, which if they are carried out successfully all of them will ensure a long life to the organization. The relationship with partners should be based on trust. Do not just give employees a list of tasks, encourage their views so that their skills might be enhanced for advancement.
