15% of children/teens are arrested on vandalism charges. The victims of the crimes however are “punished” as well, due to the child being a minor. The damages often aren’t taken care of by the child, but by the victims. As the parent(s) or legal guardian of a child, they hold responsibility in teaching the child. Teaching right from wrong with appropriate discipline. Due to the failures of upholding their responsibility as a parent, many children don’t understand their actions can become crimes. The crimes can become arrests and arrests can result in the death penalty. Parents should be fined to pay for the damages their child caused. In result of fining the parents, it will help them understand that they have a responsibility. Not only should they be fines, but also incarcerated (depending on circumstances). Incarcerating or the fining of a parent, will make it clear to the parents that anything the child does, reflects the parents’ teaching. …show more content…

The elementary school was predicted to change the lives of the children, it was planned that that school was going to enhance the learning process of the students and help them become more successful. Unfortunately, that school will never be finished, the doors will never be opened, welcoming in new faces, due to the damage cost of $70,000. The 3 seventeen year olds damaged the gym's new floors, they sprayed fire extinguishers and broke the glass on the doors. Out of all these such heinous crimes, not a single thing was stolen off the property. These events were an act of boredom, a thrill-seeking act. The seventeen year olds are now facing serious time, one of them is being charged for two vandalism
