The story of Finding Nemo is about how Marlin, a widowed clownfish travel thousands of miles to Sydney with the help of Dory, a blue tang fish who suffers from "short-term memory loss" to find Marlin's lost son, Nemo.
The movie begins with Marlin and Coral, a lovely clownfish couple who are ready to be the parents of 400 unborn children. However, this happy home is destroyed by a marauding barracuda. Coral and 399 of her eggs are killed during the barracuda attack, leaving Marlin to look after the last remaining baby fish who born with a deformed fin, Nemo by himself.

At the same time, Marlin and Dory arrive in the window of the dentist office with the help from Nigel. Marlin sees Nemo floating and believes him to be dead. He feels guilty and extremely upset thinking that he is too late. Back in Sydney Harbor, Marlin thanks Dory for helping him and leaves. On the other hand, Nemo has managed to get himself flushed down a drain and has popped up back in the harbor. Father and son are finally reunited. Suddenly, Dory and a large school of fish get enveloped in a large net from a fishing boat above. Nemo wants to save them by swimming in the net and instruct the fish to swim down. Marlin agrees to let his son try despite his fear for the safety of Nemo. After a few minutes of suspense, all of the fish are saved. Marlin, Nemo and Dory then head back to their home in the reef happily. Marlin is now more upbeat and confident in his son's abilities, while Nemo learns to appreciate his father more. Also, Dory spends a lot of time with the two, and she accompanies Marlin when he takes Nemo to school. He hugs his father before heading off on another field trip with Mr. Ray.
