Career Research Paper
I am doing my research paper on Film editors. I chose this career because I think that it would be fun to film myself and other friends playing games and having fun. I also would like to post those videos to social media because it might be entertaining for other people to watch us and so I can make whoever is watching smile and have a laugh with us.
Some of my responsibilities in this career are to edit and cut videos to fit either a time period or to get all the unwanted parts out of the video. Who ever I will be working for will expect me to get this done on their time schedule so that it can be watched to make sure everything is right and if needed to fix anything that is needed. This is how much I could make with going to the right colleges and getting the right education. In Wisconsin the yearly salary is around

The way that a movie is pieced together by the director/producers has a huge impact on the viewer’s experience. Stylistic elements are used to help engage the viewer; however, without these techniques the viewer will most likely loose interest. In this essay I will be taking a look at a scene within the movie Casablanca directed by Michael Curtiz in 1942. Casablanca is a classic film that is reviewed to be one of the greatest movies of all time. This could be due to the notable quotes used throughout the movie, or its ability to follow a historic, comical, and romantic storyline throughout the course of the film. It caters to several different viewers, making this movie favorable to many. This scene in Casablanca uses specific editing techniques
When we think of high school dropout we automatically start thinking, “Wow, that must’ve been some druggie.” Now what would you say if he dropped out to pursue a dream of his? Would you change your mind? What if he lied on his résumé to ‘compensate for his lack of experience in the film industry’, would you hire him? He gathered all of his knowledge while working at The Manhattan Beach Video Archives. There, he was able to work on some of his earlier scripts such as, True Romance (1993), and Natural Born Killers (1994). Looking to direct his first movie, he was able to get ahold of distribution company, Miramax Films, with Lawrence Bender set in place for production, who was able to secure funding for Reservoir Dogs (1992). Through this, he, Quentin Tarantino was then able to direct his first movie, having grossed 2.8 million from a budget of 1.2 million. He was able to make the difference of the two, 1.6 million, in just eight weeks. In 2009, just seventeen years after his directorial debut, he wrote and directed his first World War II film, Inglourious Basterds. Having set a budget of 70 million, Inglourious Basterds set a domestic gross total of 120.5 million, with a difference of 50.5 million. A huge step from his first. There have been several rumors that have risen since the end of Inglourious Basterds that deals with the films that Tarantino may cover. One specifically deals with a spaghetti western, with a working title of ‘Django: Unchained’.
I graduated from Pasadena City College in 1968 (Pasadena, California is my hometown). Then I attended California State University, Los Angeles. I also took a few extension classes at UCLA. But the most valuable help I received with my writing came from two workshops. The first was the Open Door Program of the screenwriter’s Guild of America, West’ (1969-70). The second was Clarion Science Fiction Writers' Workshop (1970).
A typical job that a highschool graduate gets will be around $8.50 to $9.00 an hour, that's right around $350 a week. Dancyger, K., 2007. The technique of film and video editing: history, theory, and practice. 4th ed. s.l.:Taylor & Francis.
With this short but very interesting and informative class I have just scratched the surface of the what it takes to make a full fleged film. It takes much more than I had presumed to make a movie in Hollywood. The number of people that it takes to make a minute of a movie let alone the entire movie was astonishing to me. There are many things that it takes to start making a movie but without an idea of some sort there is no movie to be made.
I chose to analyze Despicable Me, an animated film geared towards a younger audience, because I was interested in examining underlying theories and messages that this film would be relaying to its viewers. Often times, when watching animated films, children are not aware of these messages, as they are absorbed by the characters, special effects, and humor. But as we have learned throughout this semester, our brains are subconsciously primed by the various surroundings we are exposed to. Since we also studied the impacts of entertainment, such as television and video games, on children, I wanted to see how a popular children’s film might also affect them.
Film editing by definition is part of the creative postproduction process of filmmaking. In today’s modern world, film has made use of advanced digital technology to help with the editing. The editor or editors are usually given a complete compilation of all the footage. These various separate shots that can be regarded as ‘ raw’ footage. Their task is to create a finished motion picture through combining and selecting shots and putting them into a coherent sequence of events. Whenever we are viewing a film it is extremely difficult to consciously perceive all the editing that has been undertaken. Every single time there is a change from one image to another, this is an edit. For editors, it could be a possible annoyance or perhaps a blessing that critics and the audience never specifically point out the editor’s contribution. However it must be noted that film editors aren’t the only ones that will contribute to a films editing.
Kidnapping not only happens in the United States, it happens worldwide. There are some children who are found and there are some who has been missing for years to come. The call was a great way to let young adults know the severity of being kidnapped and it lets dispatchers know how severe a person being kidnapped really is. The call was a movie made in the year of 2013 starring Halle Berry and Morris Chestnut. Halle Berry and Morris chestnut work together to make this film become a great life lesson and also create suspense. During the last 32 years, NCMEC’s national toll-free hotline, 1-800-THE-LOST® (1-800-843-5678), has received more than 4.3 million calls. The purpose of this research assignment is to put forward a convincing argument in how digital technology in the last four years have completely revolutionised the whole film industry. This thesis will attempt to focus on the main disciplines of film making and the impact that technology has had on each area. Firstly, this article will look at recent changes in the pre-production area of film making followed by what new equipment and storage facilities are being used during film production. Next is arguable the biggest transformation in the film industry as a result of technology, namely the post production stage. New methods of film distribution are explored followed by the negative impact that technology has had on the film industry with the main focus being on the illegal distribution of copyrighted film footage. New ways in post-theatre film distribution is also explored and the impact that continual break-through technologies are having on the education and training of professionals working within the film industry. Finally an examination of the impact of computer generated graphics on the film industry is concluded by a brief discussion on what the future may hold for the film industry.

Offering the unique ability to visually and audibly convey a story, films remain a cornerstone in modern society. Combined with a viewer’s desire to escape the everyday parameters of life, and the excitement of enthralling themselves deep into another world, many people enjoy what films stand to offer. With the rising popularity of films across the world, the amount of film makers increases every day. Many technological innovations mark the advancement of film making, but the essential process remains the same. Pre-production accounts for everything taken place before any shooting occurs, followed by the actual production of the film, post-production will then consist of piecing the film together, and finally the film must reach an audience. Each step of this process contributes to the final product, and does so in a unique right. The process of film making will now start chronologically, stemming from the idea of the story, producing that story into a film, editing that footage together, and finally delivering that story to its viewers.
...e it before it gets broadcasted. Training opportunities are easy to find because of how many people know how to edit videos very easily. I think this would help me very much. It is easy making money as a video editor because of how many clients are hiring right now. Most of these jobs are in the Texas area. Going to school for video editing is very good for getting more clients because a lot of the professors recommend their students to other people. I think it would be very fun as well.
