No matter what will happen I will forget. As time keeps running and running and I keep growing older and older, memories of the past won't become important and I will start to forget many events that happened in the past. Although I will never be able to remember all of my time in middle school there is a way for me to remember at least the summary of my three years of middle school by choosing a representing song, a theme song. The theme song I chose to represent my eighth grade year was “Feel Good Inc.” written and sung by the Gorillaz. I chose this song as one of the lyric lines accurately represents the amount of complaints we gave out, the emotions represented in the song are almost an exact representation of my emotions during eighth grade, and because the repetitive beat signifies how I felt eighth grade was. …show more content…
The lyric that is said over and over again is “my dreams I gotta kiss it, ‘cause I don't get sleep no….” on lines 13, 19, 25, 34, and 45. The reason I believe the lyric line represented my eighth grade year well was because everyone including me kept complaining about sad it was that we don't get enough sleep over and over again. Due to the sheer amount of work and pressure put on to us to get us ready to face the world, it was very tiring but at the same time we eighth graders were able to relate at least one thing together, making the experience somewhat happy and enjoyable. Due to the specific line of the song no matter what I will always remember the pain and joy we shared as eighth
The final scene in The Breakfast Club shows all the Characters leaving detention happier than they were when they arrived. After a day of self-discovery and making new friends, the students asked if they would still be friends went school went back on Monday. At first some of them were hesitant, but they all got along in the end. During the final scene, “Don’t You Forget About Me” by Simple Minds plays to set the tone of the scene. Lyrics like "slow change may pull us apart”, “tell me your troubles and doubts”, and “don’t you forget about me” sums up the film and creates a fantastic
Whenever I play this song, I can’t help but remember my childhood. My parents struggled financially but, that was never an excuse for them. They always took my brothers and I out on small adventures. One of the most memorable memories I get when I play this song is when my parents would take us out to park to have a barbecue, while my brothers and I ran through the park till we became tired and hungry. Whenever I need a break from the world, I listen to this song just to remind myself of those special moments, even though those days won’t ever return, they are memories I will always treasure.
American Beauty/American Psycho was an album that was sung by the band Fall Out Boy in 2015. Fall Out Boy is an alternative/indie rock band with a little hint of pop in some of their songs. This album, which is the band’s most recent album, is full of a lot of good songs and songs that maybe some people wouldn’t like. Fall Out Boy is a face-paced band, which means their songs are faced-paced. A lot of their songs could be a little hard to understand for people who don’t listen to this kind of music. The album does not have many of these types of songs, which is why it is a favorite among Fall Out Boy fans.
Thousands of years ago, our ancestors were focused on surviving. Whether that meant from a horrible disease, a lion, or starvation. In today’s world, we happily do not have to worry about those things. We thank modern medicine, separation of dangerous wildlife from our homes, and grocery stores one every corner stocked to the brim. Many things have changed since then, but one thing that has existed since the existence of animals, stress. “Stress can lead to sadness or depression”, and “irritability or anger” (Mayo Clinic). Often people who can not handle stress very well, create a more negative lens of the world. Many of these people express their feelings or emotions through physical activities, and some express it through creating or listening to music. Float On is a song by Modest Mouse, expressing a point to not worrying too much about the negative. It is for people who take life very seriously or are

“Over There” is a song written by George M. Cohan in 1917. Nora Bayes, Enrico Caruso, Billy Murray, Arthur Fields, and Charles King were among many who recorded the song. It was written as a propaganda piece encouraging young American men to join the army to fight in World War I. The song was incredibly popular, selling over two million copies of sheet music and one million copies of recordings by the end of the war. Cohan, the writer, was eventually even awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor for his work on this song.
Erykah Badu talks about what another woman has versus what she has and how her man still wants Erykah, in her song “Booty.” In the first verse she says, “your booty might be bigger, but I still can pull your nigga.” This brings up a good point, often in hip hop and the culture surrounding it, a girl with a big booty is more desireable. Slim figured, Erykah Badu is contradicting that by saying she can still get the other girl’s man. This song is interesting because throughout the versus Erykah is basically ridiculing the other woman and showing while she is better, showcasing the expected competition between women for a man’s attention. Than in the refrain Erykah is explaining why she does not want a man that is already involved with someone, it is likely that he would do it to her to, she is also warning the other woman and urging her
Somewhere between rock and roll and the psychedelic seventies is a time of protests, riots and war. From this turbulent time in history, Stephen Stills penned a rhythmic tune which would become an anthem for protests, “For What It’s Worth.” As a member of the group known as Buffalo Springfield, Stills was a talented musician and song writer. The song was written during a time of civil rights protests and the Viet Nam war. Contrary to popular thought, the song was not written to protest the Viet Nam war or the deaths on the Kent State campus, however it was written and recorded to shed light on the Sunset Strip riots in Los Angeles. When Pandora’s Box, a club on the strip for teens, was closed in November 1966, the protests started and lasted
The music of today has many songs in which there is a hidden meaning or stories behind the song. The song " Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke and Pharrell is a song with a hidden meaning given much to talk about , another song which has a similar meaning with previous song is "You Do Not Even Know It " by Rick Ross. The intent of this paper is to compare song to song through its similar meaning. Both of these songs have a very rough meaning. These songs are inspired in hidden personalities , lies , appearances, violation , drugs , sex, etc. In " Blurred Lines" by Robin Thicke and Pharrell it talks about rape and sexual assault and all of these because of the use of alcohol and drugs. In "You Do Not Even Know It " by Rick Ross it also talks about how some people appearencess are not what they really are in
Rap music has given me personally something to look up to. Not a role model but hope of continuing my dreams because rappers successfully made it. “For what’s money without happiness, or hard times without the people you love” is from a song called “Love Yourz” by J. Cole. He clearly understands how there is “beauty in the struggle and ugliness in the success” because he’s lived that life. Other songs such as “2Face” or “The Autograph” were instantly relatable to me because he has been through several struggles from the beginning of his childhood. Cole’s father left when he was six leaving his mother and younger brother alone. Cole became “the man of the house” but becoming a rapper is not as easy as it seems. Cole’s messages in these two songs are relative because I too, have had several issues with my mother and father creating a sense of lonesome. Hearing music like Coles helped me overcome my
In the video produced on TED “Embrace the Remix” by Kirby Ferguson, he discusses the importance of understanding that “creativity comes from without not from within and that we are not self made but dependent on each other” (Ferguson, 2012). Ferguson discusses how everything is a remix and defines remixing as copying, transforming, and combining. He makes a logical sound argument through the use of logical fallacies to convince his viewers. Ferguson argues how remixing helps creativity through the use of logos by providing cases of Steve Jobs building off ideas, appealing to ethos with poisioning the wall fallacy, and emotionally appeal to the viewers through pathos with appeal to tradition.
Reading the lyrics makes it seem like the song is a very depressing story about the writer’s life and how he is lost and does not know what to do with his life. At the beginning of the song the singer states, “Some nights I stay up cashing in my bad luck / Some nights I call it a draw” (1-2). The singer suggests that he is a gambler and that some nights he “cashes in his bad luck”, meaning he gambles his money away, and some nights he calls it a draw, meaning he went even. The song then states, “Some Nights I wish that my lips could build a castle / Some nights ...
8th grade, 8th grade from the opening day to the signing of the yearbooks. This is the year of memories, goodbyes, and regrets. 8th grade and I’m still realizing that there are people in the world that would die to go to a school like this. A school where every body knows everyone’s name, respects everyone, and where violence and fighting are about as common as the Yankees missing the playoffs. When I’m done with my homework and go to bed, as the days of 8th grade wind down, summer will come and go, and I will find myself in one of those giant, scary places called high school.
"Truly Alone" by Insane Clown Posse, 2004; I chose this song from Insane Clown Posse's Hell's Pit album for my mix-tape because it is one of the prime examples of the often-violent nature of their lyrics. The song begins mellow telling the story of an individual's life and how lonely it is and that he doesn't feel like anyone would notice if he died. In the chorus, he is explaining how someone can only be alone for a limited duration of time before that man goes insane. In the second verse the individual opens into more detail about his disturbing habits, how he has no one to vent his thoughts and tell about how he stalks people. He begins to talk about his appeal to telling an even the man is committing after walking into a Super K's hardware
This song reassures us that in a world so vast and separated, people can be brought together by love and faith. Similarly, "Dreaming of You" expresses that life can be an unexpected fairytale in which our dreams can and do come true. It paints a picture of a female/male night after night dreaming about the person she/he loves; longing, waiting for the courage to express that love.... ... middle of paper ... ... Listeners reap from this conclusion the sense of hope needed to live out their lives.
