What does it mean to be truly happy? Some say that spending time with family makes you happy. Others say a healthy career and a dream job makes you happy. Still others say that money makes them happy. Well, what would happen if these things were not in place? If you could not be with your family. If that dream job somehow has eluded you. If you only have just enough money to make ends meet. What then? Would that mean that you should be an unhappy person?
Unhappy people do not get fulfilment out of life. Life goes by for the unhappy person leaving very few memories of anything worth reflecting on. They tend to not make many friends and the friends that they do make they tend to push away. Their health also suffers. Statistics show that people

If you live a far distance from loved ones make the effort to move closer to them. The temptation might be to follow where the income increases are and to move far away from family to do so. The fact is, however, that more money does not necessarily make you happier. If your budget does not allow you to move closer to family and friends then start a regiment where you call family members and friends more often.
A sixth way to start being happier is to show compassion. We have all come across someone who is less fortunate than ourselves. Whether it be in our own circle of friends and family or elsewhere. It has been proven by a brain imaging study that people who watch someone give to another human being gain as much happiness as the person receiving the charity. Donate clothing to your local Goodwill or Salvation Army. Donate food to your local food bank. You could also give these things directly to people who are in need.
A seventh way to start being happier is to try minimizing time spent on idle chit chat and spend more time in meaningful conversations. There was a study done by a psychologist at the University of Arizona that revealed that people are happier when they spend less time on menial conversations and more time on in-depth meaningful
I do not think anyone else in this world can choose whether or not someone else is happy or not. I agree with Schuller and Parks because they state that there are ways you can increase your happiness. I believe that if you are unhappy, it is up to you to fix it and change. Instead of letting negative environmental factors affect your life negatively, let them change your life positively. Always think everything happens for a reason and believe that the negative factors in your life are blessings in disguise. If you can go through life believing these things then you will live a longer and happier life. I think that if you go through life with the positive psychological interventions you will inevitably be happier. For example, if you help some out of the kindness in your heart and they end up being extremely happy you will be happier than not being helpful but knowing the person you could’ve helped has a negative environmental factor affect their life negatively. However, you are the only one that has control over your
However, happiness also takes into account a wide range of other aspects of our lives, including our thoughts and actions, and even genetics. Therefore, happiness should be defined as the amalgamation of how we think and act, and how we interpret our experiences as positive or negative. What this means is that in order to become happier, we must simply force ourselves to become more optimistic. This is easier said than done, however. In order to have a noticeable increase in happiness, people must be willing to make lifestyle changes in addition to changing their mindset. However, the difference between optimism and delusion is a fine line, so people must be cautious to not exaggerate the positive parts of an experience or become overly optimistic. If we practice seeking out the positive views of our circumstances, with time we will find ourselves happier than
First, the expectation of being happiness normally undermines its purpose, making us unhappy. Subsequently, devoting oneself to the happiness of others in turn brings happiness to the person. Finally, true happiness comes from being content with what one already has instead of worrying about he or she doesn’t. So the next time you think that you are not and want to be happy, remember that instead of following the feeling around, let happiness come to
Utilizing a pie chart, she illustrates the crux of her research; 10% of our happiness is increased or decreased by our circumstances. 50% of our happiness is increased or decreased by genetic predisposition, 40% is within our ability to control. We have “opportunities to increase or decrease our happiness levels through what we do and how we think” (22). She provides 12 specific happiness enhancing activities. She implores us to commit time, resources and energy to this “intentional activity”. Promoting these changes in our lives to accommodate being happier, which will benefit everyone in the end.
Let’s take a look at how we interact and form relationships. Happy people like being around other happy people. It’s safe to say it is natural to surround ourselves with the kind of people we want to be. Conversly, it is natural for us to retreat and isolate when our health is failing physically or emotionally. One’s social skills are telling of how healthy they are all around. Ideally a person has a nice balance of social time and personal time. We have a good idea who we are and are comfortable being ourselves in all situations. Get involved in your community and give back. Paying it forward is the best medicine next to laughter. Practice the golden rule and treat others as you want to be treated. Respect goes a long way. Know what you are okay with and set boundaries with people so you can develop healthy relationships. These relationships are built on trust, communication, and solving problems together. Maintain these relationships and keep your social support network close and you will live a happy life. Be sure to surround yourself with people who bring you up and encourage you to grow and be a better
A powerful influence over happiness is how people perceive situations and how they choose to engage with others. Life may change within an instant and have a spiraling spin of high and low points, but the positive state of mind and the value of social relationships determine the
When other people in life work hard and pour out their joy and excitement from their life to your own life then there is nothing else to do but soak up what is available. There is no happiness in loneliness and solitude, sometimes it may be nice to be alone in a quiet place to study or think, but too much of that wears down a person down into a selfish attitude of despair and bitterness. I have never heard of a happy bitter person, it’s just psychologically impossible. Just being around others who share the same interests, or the same faith or both allows you to benefit from their company and them from yours. Happiness comes from giving the overflow of your understanding and positive feelings to others. Helping them through difficult times or just hanging out over a period of time refreshes a person and allows them to forget or to see in another light the troubles that have been going on for so long. Without others around there is no way that a person can be happy and content with their
Happiness is an inner state of well-being and fulfilment, and therefore it has to come from inside. Every individual has his or her own emotions and way of thinking and as a result of this no one can really say what happiness is and what happiness is not. However, universally, happiness is a by-product of a healthy attitude and viewpoint. Happiness exists in everyone whether they choose to acknowledge and believe it or not. It is not rare nor is it something only the elite have: everyone has it but not everyone recognizes it. Contentment is finding a light at the end of every dark tunnel and in order to experience this we must ignore the pessimism surrounding us and remind ourselves that happiness is not a materialistic object but a choice and frame of mind.
Achieving long-term personal happiness is possible with hard work and perseverance by using several methods. Understanding and following various steps to have fulfillment can change your life. By consistently following an assortment of important steps, you will develop a life pattern that is generally happy. Many people throughout history have attempted to find ways to become happier, and share the information with others. While there are occasionally things that should make a person unhappy, it is important to not allow unhappiness to become a lifelong pattern that destroys you mentally and physically. In addition, happy people tend to have more friends and success because they are fun to associate with.
Money and Happiness are two things that we have all given a lot thought. We put lots of effort into these two things either trying to earn them or trying to increase them. The connection we make between money and happiness is strange because they are two very different concepts. Money is tangible, you can quantify it, and know exactly how much of it you have at any given time. Happiness, on the other hand, is subjective, elusive, has different meanings for different people and despite the efforts of behavioral scientist and psychologist alike, there is no definitive way to measure happiness. In other word, counting happiness is much more difficult than counting dollar bills. How can we possibly make this connection? Well, money, specifically in large quantity, allows for the freedom to do and have anything you want. And in simplest term, happiness can be thought of as life satisfaction and enjoyment. So wouldn’t it make sense that the ability to do everything you desire, result in greater satisfaction with your life.
On the contrary, a main reason why we struggle to find happiness is the fact that we are often blinded from its true definition, and convinced to seek it in places where it can’t be found. In today’s society, false pictures of what this concept really means have been painted in our minds by outside sources. One of the major causes of these fabricated characterizations is blamed on the media. When we watch the television and see someone who is well known walking around in a suit with a supermodel next to his side, we jump to the conclusion that he is a happy person. But, that isn’t always the case. Fame and fortune do not automatically guarantee happiness. It is such an intangible subject that it makes it hard for someone to fully grasp its true concept.
Everyone seems to define family differently, however, the significance of family is the same. For you, family means everything. You can always count on your parents and siblings for help and love. Family is very valuable and important to you and should never be taken for granted. No one can deny that family is the foundation of our generation. A family is where we all start our life journey and helps us grow to be successful throughout our lives.

There are so many different types of family relationships. Whatever form a family takes; it is an important part of everyone’s life. My family has played an important role in my life. Good family relationships serve as a foundation to interactions with others. Supportive families will help children to thrive. The quality of the family relationship is more important than the size of the family. Making the relationships priority, communication, and providing support for one another is key to developing relationships. Family relationships are what make up our world today; they shape the ways that we see things and the ways that we do things.
Happiness is a feeling that cannot be broken if strong enough, no matter how much sadness or hate is around you. Happiness can come from the smallest thing, for instance, music makes me happy and can easily change my mood, or when I am doing something I love my mood is easily changed. For others it could be whenever you do something well, or right and get recognition for it. It is the easiest feeling to be spread and given out but often neglected and forgotten about which is something we should all be more aware
