My family Is made up of my two parents and brother. My parents are both young at the age of 40. My younger brother is 16, I would consider his age a decent gap between us. Although this has never stopped us from getting close, we have been best friends since birth. My immediate family of the four of us is small, but my extended family is very large. My entire family lives in Duluth MN, except for me. My mother and father were born is Duluth MN, they had grown up together from kindergarten to twelfth grade. They dated throughout high school, and into college. When they were 20 years old, there lives had changed for ever, they found out they were pregnant with me. As young parents they were worried about having a child, the finical struggle, a place to live and raise a baby on their own. Though it was hard they did it, they adapted and did what they had to do to raise me. My mom would work nights and take care of me during the day, while my dad would work during the day and watch me at night. They gave me everything when they had nothing. This has taught me the value of family, being raised by a supportive, loving family has given me great values and outlooks in life. When I was in kindergarten I had a friend from Indiana Katrina, and I’m still friends with her today. I came home from kindergarten to tell my parents about my new friend Katrina. I mentioned how beautiful and “tan” she was. I was so young that I did not grasp or understand there was a difference between us. I thought of us as equal and she was just my best friend. As I approached an older age, I was told people were different than me, I was taught that there was a difference besides the color of my skin.
