Family in technical definition means a group of people consisting of parents and children living together in a household; however, the definition of my family means different. I could express family in multiple ways, but summing it up to similar words is better. To start off my family definition to me means love and forgiveness. These two mean a lot when my family and I do not always see eye to eye. The love that we share for one another can never be broken in spite of all the chaos we seem to carry. Acceptance and guidance are what keep us together. My loved ones accept me because they know that I am a teen and I always make mistakes. They are also my guidance even after my mistakes they help guide me into the right direction open minded that I know my mistake and learned from it. My mother taught me at the age of 16 how to be responsible. She taught me to prioritize and get things that matter the most done first rather than waiting around to the last minute. Although, I know what matters more as a teen I still fail to stay on task at times, but the acceptance they give I am forgiven. My parents both molded me into a great teen so far:even though, it was difficult I am somewhat glad for what they have done. …show more content…

What is a family? People you’re related to? People you live with? According to Webster.com, it is a combination of those things. However, this definition could vary depending on who you ask. The meaning of family has changed over the years. Divorce and remarriage, single families, same-sex marriage, new family roles, and technology are just a few factors that have changed the way we interpret and define of family.
As a maturing adult I now realize the importance of having a strong parental foundation. Throughout my life there have been moments where both parents demonstrated the characteristics of all four basic parenting styles. However, as I aged it became apparent that my parents had successfully found their niche in a parenting style that was analogous with their personality and beliefs. In my father's case it was the authoritative parenting style. With this style he captured my trust and respect; never letting me down. Furthermore, it was my mother's permissive parenting that undeniably contributed towards my love and gratitude for her. There were also instances where my parents influenced my life both positively and negatively. Nevertheless, I am forever grateful for having my parents in my life, for they contributed (and continue to contribute) towards my success as a growing adult.
Society seems to have many different opinions when it comes to relationships and families and what is ideal. The ideal family may not exist anymore. We now have in our society families that are complete that do not necessarily contain the traditional material. The traditional family, as society would see it; usually consist of a married, mother and father and usually children. Moms are supposed to stay at home while dads work the forty-hour a week job. However, in our 2003 world, families exist in a lot of non-traditional ways. A lot of families now consist of single parent families, or same sex parents and their children, or even couples that are unmarried but live together. And even now, if a family contains what society sees as traditional as far as having a mom, dad, and kids, other aspects are not traditional anymore. Women now have more opportunity in the workplace than they have ever had, therefore, many moms are career moms and dads are sometimes staying at home. Years ago, these types of families were given labels for being dysfunctional or abnormal, however, this label is not holding up as well as it did years ago. There are many non-traditional families that are raising children in a loving, nurturing home with a substantial amount of quality love. Quality is the key in any relationship between anyone. Society is finding out that it is not the traditional image that makes a loving family, but the quality of a relationship that people give to each other is what really makes a family. In the essay "The Myth of the "Normal" Family", written by Lousie B. Silverstein and Carl F. Auerbach, they make references to the cultural idea of what a "normal" family should be and what i...
As I have gotten older, I have come to the realization that I do not know enough. Their experiences taught them and mine have taught me. I have relied on my mother and father for lots of things, from advice, help with kids, and financial support. They have always been there for me no matter what and I realize that they did what they did out of love. We seldom have any conflicts, now. We can sit down and have adult discussions. They do not always agree with my choices but they do support me. They tell my brother and me that we are adults and they cannot tell us what to do. I respect and love them the same as they do me. Ours roles are slowly reversing. They are getting older, their health is failing, and I find them relying on me more. I am happy to do for them what they have done for me.
The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the cause of WW1. If Franz Ferdinand wasn’t assassinated we wouldn’t have entered WW1.
The word “family” is unique, special, and controversial among different cultures and ethnicities. As defined by Random House Western Dictionary, a family is “any group of persons closely related by blood, as parents, children, uncles, aunts, and cousins” (Dictionary.com). Although the definition from Random House follows the infamous proverb of, “blood is thicker than water,” my definition of family does not. Family is not defined or restricted by blood relations. In my mind, a family is simply a group of people, who loves, supports, and helps each other unconditionally, and endlessly. Regardless of one’s sexual orientation or preference, all families embody these common principles. Thus, a family unites its members through the strong bonds and kinships formed when people come together. (Great intro.)
They didn’t have to stay on me as hard for doing the right thing, because I was so scared of what they would do to me, I tried to do everything to right. I didn’t always do it right, but when i didn’t know never to do it again. My parents kept me in check until could do it myself, and was still behind me 100% of the way. “No matter how old you get, your father and I will never leave your side.” My parents are the reasons why I can learn things and understand the meaning of it.
Family, a group consisting of parents and children living together in a household. Although family is a concretely defined term, the idea of family varies from person to person. But, what makes a family? For those who are surrounded by loving blood relatives, for those who have never known the one to grant them life, for those who have left their blood behind for a more loving and nurturing environment, what can commonly define a family? Family is something defined by the individual. Family includes those who you have come to love, whether platonically or romantically, those you have suffered with, those you have come to respect, and most importantly those you have cared for and in turn have cared for you. To one that could mean people who
My parents were very influential in the development of my story. They have been with me every step of the way through everything I have encountered throughout my life. “We will always be here for you no matter what, supporting you with everything in life. God will always be there for you and he will love you unconditionally and he will support you and guide you” (mom and dad). My youth leader has been very inspirational when talking to my youth group. “God is present in all of us, whether we choose to acknowledge him or not. God will always be there and you can talk to him about anything. He does not judge and will forever listen to you” (youth pastor). My grandmother was always playing music and loved to get dressed up for church and to spread God’s love. She made me excited to go to church and spread my faith. “Believing in God is important and it can help you with everything. God will always guide you in the right direction when you are unsure of where to go in life. Always remember that you have ...

As a kid I was always inspired by my parents’ relationship, because they knew how to make each other happy as well as making me and my two older sisters happy. Their relationship was a lot different than others, they never fought, they always put us kids first and dedicated their time to us. It was like this until I was going into my freshman year, my whole life changed. I was the only
How can a simple six letter word be so complicated to define? Family is a single word that is open to many interpretations depending on the individual. If you try to condense this ideal to a single clinical definition you end up excluding numerous members of society. What comes to mind when you think of the word family? While in the most broken down and literal sense, family means a relative with a blood or legal bond, the word family can encompass blood relations, adoptions, and even intentional relationships such as friendships. Economies, cultures, and backgrounds can further differentiate what one’s perception of a family is. For many people, including me, a family is so much more. It is the amount of commitment, cohesiveness, and importance
Everyone seems to define family differently, however, the significance of family is the same. For you, family means everything. You can always count on your parents and siblings for help and love. Family is very valuable and important to you and should never be taken for granted. No one can deny that family is the foundation of our generation. A family is where we all start our life journey and helps us grow to be successful throughout our lives.
The definition of family is “It finds its origin in marriage; it consists of husband, wife, and children born in their wedlock, though other relatives may find their place close to this nuclear group, an the group is united by moral, legal, economic, religious and social rights and obligations” (Ravelli and Webber 283). My family fits perfectly into the definition of what a family is. My family is a nuclear family; I have a mother, father and
