Many people have read the book "Michael Vey, The Fall of Hades" by Richard Paul Evans. But even a smaller amount of people have considered what the theme of the story is. In this essay, I will be determining what the theme of this story is. From Michael sacrificing himself, to Taylor sacrificing her family, to the electro clan making adjustments for the better, I think the theme is "Sacrificing something for the better good." In the book, Michael has to make drastic changes to put himself into the leader of the electro clan after their former leader dies. A few of these changes include forcing Michael to keep certain things in his head, which he doesn't do normally. Because Michael is electric, he sacrifices himself to climb the tower and get hit with lighting to become stronger than he can imagine. This potentially killed him, and if the rest of the electro clan was not underground, would have killed them too. Michael sacrificed his whole body for something that might not even work for the better good. This is a good trait to have because people admire it in the long run, like Taylor Ridley. …show more content…
She did this because "Michael has sacrificed everything for us, and now it is our turn to do something for him." This quote means a lot in the theme because it played a major role in the fight they have later in the novel. Taylor is then realizing how great life could be if they all were willing to sacrifice anything at any given time. Taylor had to do this because of circumstances in the war. A lot of these decisions were made because the electro clan lost their leader and someone had to take
So he talked to his coach and there was still a way to be on the team, it was being a base coach. Michael was perfectly fine for that job. He led his team all the way to the semi-finals pitching, and now he would need to lead his team to the championship game which would be played at yankee stadium, where his favorite pitcher, El Grande, played all of his home games. Yes El Grande is a pitcher for the New York Yankees and Michael is his number 1 fan. Michael’s friend, Ellie, is El Grande’s daughter. Which leads to what happened next in the
...gs. One of these things is that no matter what happens, there is always a positive outcome available, even if we need to work to find it. Remembering this theme will remind me that no matter how bleak things look, there is always a way for things to get better. It will also encourage me to work harder to discover this way, which will encourage me to work harder even in normal situations.
14. Was the theme implicit or explicit? Explain. I would say that the theme is implicit because the author never really comes out and says it, but rather it is hinted. The last chapter of part three is a more obvious way of saying the theme is guilt, but the author does not say it and so the reader has to infer. When Hannah commits suicide, it was most likely because she could not live with the guilt of what she had been apart of. When she tells Michael she has learned how to read, we can infer she was referring to how she had now read everything that had gone on during the Holocaust.
Theme: The theme of the story is that sometimes in life you have to make sacrifices, big or small, to help things that are more important then what benefits you more. This is shown plenty of times throughout the story, but the most important time was when Sadie had to choose to save her father, or stop Set and...
The theme of this novel is to look at the good you do in life and how it carries over after your death. The moral of the book is; "People can make changes in their lives whenever they really want to, even right up to the end."
Michael soon realizes that he wishes he would have simply turned himself in. Afterwards, it seemed like such a logical choice, but he knew that if he did he would be breaking the loyalty to Joe.
In order to identify the best theme in any form of literature, one must first figure out what a theme is and how to identify a theme. Themes are the moral of the story, or other forms of literature. After a book is read to a child, many times adults will say “What is the story trying to teach you” or “the moral of this story is…” this is not different from being asked what the theme is of a certain piece of litera...
Some people could even say that Michael is to his work as Twenty One Pilots is to music but when 9/11 happened he didn’t really work as well as he would have. During 9/11 Michael’s kids were at school and his wife was at home so he did not really worry about them because he knew they were in a safe place. “When 9/11 happened I was working at my job for the city. We were working at 8th and Penn Street. My boss came to the job site and told us that a plane had flown into the first world trade center. I think everyone at that point just assumed that it was not terrorists and that
So, throughout the story and throughout life, we see society making countless decisions, making countless mistakes, and repeating the process over and over again. And then, we see the individuals that try to prevent the worst from happening to the world, or in the countries they reside in. However, if it's one thing that can change the world, it's what someone believes in, and what they do personally to back it up.
The first episode starts with Michael Scofield, the main character, “robbing” a bank and getting arrested and sent to jail. After a few episodes, you realize that Michael wanted to go to jail, and robbing the bank was all part of a genius plan. This is because Lincoln Burrows, Michael’s brother, is on death row at the prison he was going to get sent to. At first you think the Burrows did kill someone, which happened to be the vice president’s brother, but after many episodes you realize it was all a part of a political conspiracy and that the government was trying to get back at Burrows father. Michael’s plan involved multiple high risk steps to get him and his brother out of prison before the execution date. Each episode shows one of the step of how they are going to escape, but also shows that the guards are extremely close to foiling their plans...
Mikey’s moral downfall is most likely a result of genetic influences, coupled with his current situation in a Mafia environment. His genetic makeup prohibits him from withstanding the pressures and influences of Mafia life. His violent behavior in the killings coincide with the Corleone notion of loyalty, and family business practices. Possible inherited defects in the Corleone family, such as those found in the five generations of Dutch men stated previously, fit well with Mafia methods of coercion and getting rid of competition. Also, the fact that Mikey feels responsible in helping with the protection of his father, and his expected role in the matter, affect his decision about involvement in the family business. Since the viewer only sees a short span of Mikey’s life, it is difficult to predict if Mikey will ever deviate from his current unethical practices. Theory suggests that he will change because altering personalities permanently is nearly impossible. However, only by viewing subsequent parts of Mikey’s life can we know for sure if he will return to moral standards of living.
... gives up literally everything—including his own life—for the sake of keeping a family together. Another example of said theme is when Defarge is obligated to give up his loyalty to Manette when he must further his involvement in the Revolution. This theme of sacrifice is utilizing the idea that one must give up minor things for the greater good, even if it hurts to do so.
His skin got lighter and his nose became slightly thinner than it looked back in the Thriller era. This was when the media slowly started to spread rumors that he bought the bones of elephant man, which he didn’t deny because he knew the media would believe anything people would say about him and that he started to sleep inside of what people would call a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. It was from then on the media started to say that he started to sleep in these chambers so that he could retain his young looks which turned out to be false. Only after this era would things get worse for Michael.
As we begin the novel, immediately we learn that Michael was born with a cleft lip. Ever since his birth, this lip has labeled him as an undeveloped human being. He has been mislabeled throughout his entire life as different, as well as a simpleton. These statements are untrue, but it is all he has ever known, so Michael learns to accept it. This disfigurement also affects his speech. Speech is a very important theme within the novel. He is a very clever individual, but his speech problems lead him to be institutionalized by society. Michael began to notice how he was treated because of his lip, and understood where he was placed into the semiotic system. At times, he remains silent and pretends to be dumb in certain situations, because he knew he could get away with it. This is the turning point in the novel when he begins to see the corruption of his society, and that his freedom was just an illusion. This results in Michael fleeing to the mountains.
Several different elements are necessary to create a story. Of all the elements, the conflict is most essential. The conflict connects all pieces of the plot, defines the characters, and drives the story forward. Once a story reaches its climax, the reader should have an emotional connection to the both story and its characters. Not only should emotions be evoked, but a reader should genuinely care about what happens next and the about the end result for the characters. Guy de Maupassant’s “The Necklace” is the perfect example of how a story’s conflict evolved the disposition of its characters.
