There is more to learning than just the material. There is a way each student learns, or learns better. Studies are still showing why the students do better when they 're in smaller groups. Having students in 15-20 kids a classroom gives each individual a chance. This allows the teacher or even two teachers to sit down and help a student in subjects they are falling behind in. You can test a student as much as you want, but what really matters is the in class experience. With this being said, most of the statics were focused on 6th grade and lower.Having smaller classes in elementary school leads to positive effects. “Contact through face-to-face interaction is not incidental, but integral to the development of knowledge” (Allais 727). Officials are trying ways to minimize class sizes. They are testing, gathering statistics, and trying to pass ballots. According to The Seattle Times newspaper there was a ballot called the Initiative 1351, trying to get the class size lowered to 25 (Higgins 3). Getting the money for the “higher education” will acquire some work. According to Stephanie Allais in her article she states, “People who need and want education should have a meaningful chance of acquiring and developing knowledge. If we are thinking about the needs of students for access to education, we need to think about what it is that we are giving them access to, and what makes it really worthwhile” (733). Classes today are really expensive, especially with the more classes that the school requires a student to take. According to a 2010 study by the University of California’s Civil Rights Project, “Two-thirds of students at one California’s State University campus weren’t able to get into their required courses.” This means that the students at that school will stay in school for more than four years than they intended. To begin, my observation was at Webster Elementary School, a school placed in the city surrounded by houses and other schools. The specific classroom I am observing is full of Kindergarten students who seem to very advanced than I had imagined. The classroom walls are brick and white, but the classroom teacher Mrs. O'Brien does an amazing job keeping the space use for both an upbeat and educational vibe, especially for environmental print. Everywhere you look there are educational posters, numbers, and mental state vocabulary words, as well as, students completed work. Case studies have been key in generating research information on the effects of smaller class size. Similar results have been attained from studies in Tennessee, California and Wisconsin. Districts have to think about if it is worth the money to reduce class sizes, and if there is enough proof that students are academically better off in smaller class size rather than larger classes. According to Matthew Chingos and Grover Whitehurt authors of Class Size: What Research Says and What It Means for State Policy, “Increasing the pupil/teacher ratio in the U.S. by one student would save at least $12 billion per year in teacher salary cost alone” (Chingos, Whitehurt). Why would districts want to pay for the creation of smaller classes when they could save more by just adding more students to a class? This goes to show that there should not be a price tag on someone’s education. Why put more on a teacher’s plate just to save money? With the result from the Student Teacher Ratio, it is hard for districts to say that having smaller class sizes is not the way to spend money. If the districts spent the money on the class size reduction, they would not have to worry about an annual cost, because once small classes are set in place, the districts do not have to continue to pay. According to the National Education Association (NEA), having class size reductions do not only involve money but also create “improved health, less Medicaid coverage, lower crime rates, and fewer welfare recipients” (Class Size Reduction: A Proven Strategy). Even so, human beings take communication for granted, we possess the ability to communicate instantly from across the globe and in real time, we can alert others of danger within a minute 's notice, and keep our governments in check. Yet, we squander and misuse our communicative abilities to gossip about celebrity drama or the nonsensical events that take place within our society. However our ability may or may not be used, our potential to communicate is essential to our functionality and the survival of our interpersonal relationships
On November 27, 2016, I sat down with Dee for a face-to-face interview about her physical, cognitive, social, and spiritual development as a middle-aged adult. Dee is a fifty-three-year-old married women with two children: an eighteen-year-old son and a twenty-one-year-old daughter. The interview was conducted in Dee’s household in Chambers, Nebraska.
The conversation I chose to analyze was the third conversation between two participants about a classmate they go to school with. After reading and analyzing the conversation I would have to personally find it unsuccessful. The reason is because only one participant is actually successful in communicating their point to the other person.
Proper school funding is one of the keys to having a successful school. Americans believe that funding is the biggest problem in public schools. School improvements revolve around funding. There needs to be funding not only in the successful schools but also the schools that aren’t doing as well. In documentary, Waiting for Superman, it talks about how smaller class sizes will help students. Funding is what will help the smaller class sizes. State funding mechanisms are subject to intense political and economic scrutiny (Leonard). Studies have shown that funding is inversely related to accreditation levels (Leonard). School funding needs to be increased, but there must be accountability as well.
Class size makes a huge impact on how the student learns. Along with many other things, there is more to the amount of kids in class than most people think. The quality one on one time is affected. Along with that, important questions that the students needs clarity on from the teacher might not be able to be answered because so many other students are in the room asking their own question. Students learn in their own ways. Teachers have to be flexible to how their students learn and in order to do that they need to know their students on a personal level. When class sizes are large, it effects students in negative ways in their learning.
Nowadays, variables in a classroom become one of the most important parts of education, especially to high school students. Since they spend most of their day sitting in classrooms to learn skills and knowledge for their future, it is important to choose better conditions for students. Among the several variables in a classroom, the number of students in a class is important for education, especially small-sized classes. There are many different types of relationships. From your neighbor to your significant other, experiencing different relationships is a part of everyday life. Wether you posses good or bad communication skills will affect the interpersonal relationships within your life. The popular television series Modern Family is a good example of the different types of friendships, types of love, and relationship theories that encompass the everyday person.
The purpose of this paper is not to teach you, or to show you how interpersonal communication is essential to everyday life at home or work. But, I am going to do my best to at least show you how essential communication skills are in all areas of life by using me as the example. My plan is to focus on some of the elements of interpersonal communication that we have been touching on this semester. While reading our Interpersonal Communications Book, three goals kept being highlighted that I personally wanted to accomplish by the end of course. I’m sure that by now have noticed that I keep referring to my topics as goals. The reason why I’m doing so is because I’m still on that learning curve…an ongoing process. If can recall back to all of our assignment in this course they all bring one collective point. That point is that, Interpersonal communication is an essential skill in everything that we do in life.
Finally, I think it is up to each parent to establish what is best for their children. Some children need more attention than others and they learn better in smaller classrooms. What ever route you choose make sure your children are getting a good education.
With this, students become so knowledgeable that mastery learning is almost always achieved. Finally, I like the idea of small class sizes. With fewer students, it is easier to focus on unique needs and interests, which will help the students significantly. With interest, comes fun, and with fun, comes learning.
Social interactions are the manner in which we socialize and react to other people. Social interaction has been around humanity since the beginning. It is so important that without it, settlements and groups wouldn’t have formed the way we know it today. It is the building block of society, people get together and design rules, institution and select officials to guide their way of living. It means interaction is social relationship among the individuals. It is a sort of action and reaction position among the people. It involves the acts that people do to others and the return the expect. Social interaction consists of many concepts which are: Exchange, competition, cooperation, conflict and coercion.
