Education is an important part of our society and schools are constantly looking to improve it each and every year. School teaches students abilities that they can apply to their future jobs. High school is designed to get kids ready for college and future employment. Additionally, community service and extracurricular activities are also great for developing students and further improving their skills. Extending high school to a fifth year would not only help prepare students for the workforce but also allow them additional time to improve their skills and make them better workers in general. To begin, the addition of one extra year would create better prepared workers. Students eventually need a job to support their future families and households. Schools could offer additional classes designed to help students learn skills that are necessary to be a good employee. In addition, students would have more time to find and learn about future careers that they are truly interested in, rather than just settling. Additional schooling would give students a general idea of which jobs they may like and how to do them. …show more content…
Sending students off to college before they are mature is not a good idea. When students get to college, they must be responsible for attending class and completing assignments. Those that are not mature tend to party too much and blow off class. This is not only a waste of money, but also a waste of time and resources. When a student goes to college, they must be responsible and accountable for their success. Schools could give students work experience, which would help them understand more about a career they may be interested in. This would be accomplished by offering job shadowing and other work-related activities. The extra year would show students what is needed to be successful in the workforce
Is it really right for high schools to be abolished from the teen’s system of education? This question has been a vital issue in the present age educational structure. According to research carried out by many educational researchers lately, it was discovered that the two-year high schooling scheme is irrelevant and obsolete in the learning structure for teen’s, and should be abolished from their system of education or scheme of learning.
If they are not motivated in putting their mind and time there is no point to force him or her to study in college. They will not study, but in turn, it will just be a waste of four years of time. It might seem that university is a good path for some people, but not for everyone. Some fields, require it and many occupations would be extremely difficult to have and function without it. What should be promoted nowadays should be either college or how to find a job suitable for you, but many argue that it should be not one or the other. The reason behind that is everyone is brainwashed that going to college comes before finding the perfect
“They laugh at me because I’m different; I laugh at them because they’re all the same” Kurt Cobain once said. However, would it be a good choice to be different and accept going to college in an earlier age instead of attending to a normal high school? Of course this has been greatly disputed; due to the fact that many students have a hard time deciding which option is more convenient and would actually lead them to accomplish their goals. Even though there are many early college schools that would offer an Associate’s degree without having to pay anything, there is people that would prefer to pay their career by themselves and have a normal life as most high scholars do without having to worry that much. Of course that going earlier to college would be challenging but it can bring students better opportunities in life, and also help them mature more rapidly so they could be able to understand what life is in reality.
High school students should not have to serve one hundred hours of community to graduate because they already have enough on our plates as it is. Most teens already have multiple things going on in there lives. Adding on one more extra requirement onto the hectic schedules of these teens will cause an overload. The school piles kids down with homework and also expects students to study in order to get good grades, which it should be expected, but that is the limit for most. For example, lets say and average teenager who has to pay for their own care and gas and also other e...
Some students would argue that a college education is not a vital aspect of the future of children because it is too much schooling, costs too much, and it is not needed for their future. First of all, these students have struggled through 13 years of school whether elementary, middle, or high school. They have endured many long days and late nights to pass their classes. Although it is true that 4+ more years of school will be mentally tough and hard to endure, these important years will help shape
Society pushes today's youth towards higher education. The goal of grade school is to prepare the students for middle school. The goal of middle school is to prepare the students for high school. And finally the goal of high school is to prepare the students for college. The entire structure of education is to prepare youth for the next level of education. The problem with this system is that not all students are college material, as seen in the essay The Case Against College by Caroline Bird.
The two advantages are that you have more time to explore fields you want to study in and people who can’t afford college can get a college education. The two disadvantages are that there is a limited amount of majors and universities will have a higher expectation for two-year community colleges. In today 's society, there are many families that can 't afford college and have to take loans. The government should be able to take care of those needs. When people come fresh out of high school, a lot of people don’t usually know what they want to do with their life. There are reasons to why they might not offer particular majors at a community college such a budget and resources. Since community colleges would be free for people to apply to, it would be harder to transfer to a four-year
As students near the end of the academic year, they are constantly faced with some of the same choices the generations before them have been presented with too. The biggest question a lot of seniors in high school have to answer is if they are going to be attending college or not. There are a lot of legitimate reasons as to why a person might not attend a college, but I personally feel like everybody should have a higher education if they have the opportunity to do so. One of the biggest reasons that people do not have the opportunity to pursue higher levels of school is the fact that they do not have enough money to pay for it. With the staggering amount of debt, the majority of students incur in college, it is becoming a
The main advantage to this is that it allows students to discover their interests. For instance, if a state requires that a student must take three years of chemistry or three years of physics, the student may choose one of those subjects and specialize in it. This in some way will help the pupil choose a college major and maybe a career.
As stated earlier, the cost of college is too high and it needs to be reduced to a more reasonable amount. It is expected that young adults in this day in age would want to go to college or another post-secondary education school to receive higher learning and to somewhat better their lives. While this is true ...
Isn’t twelve plus years of school enough? Who needs college anyway? Working a nine to five job with no chance of a promotion would not be that bad, would it? Do not deny, this is not the desired lifestyle of most young adults. Clearly, the way to achieve a superior job and future is college. College is the most necessary tool in order to be successful in life.
First of all, many high school graduates cannot handle college. Isabel V. Sawhill and Stephanie Owen describe college as a place, “one can obtain a traditional four-year bachelor’s degree”. The work load outside of the classroom could be compared to working a full time job. For example, if a student is enrolled in four college courses and is in class a minimum of four hours the student should spend at least four to six hours of studying. This may be extremely agitating and stressful to a student that is not good at studying. The new college student may realize that the schoolwork is too much for him to handle and instead drop out. In Pharinet’s blog post, Is College for Everyone? He states that “…it is estimated that in the U.S., approximately 50% of students who begin college never graduate. There exist students who are not yet ready for the academic and financial challenges of college. There exist students who do not have the desire for college or learning.” This statement is important because if 50% of students that begin college never gradua...
In conclusion, higher education is superior for everyone’s future and it is not as expensive as some think, it pushes people to be happier and more intellectual, and college is worth it when there is a better job to pay back all the years of higher education. When the child’s future life becomes the present and it is time to be an adult and start thinking about college, they should
The purpose of a high school education is to prepare one for college and ultimately, the workforce. By the end of freshman year, in high school, the average student has learned a sufficient amount of material in enough subjects that he or she can be considered "well-rounded" in his or her studies. This is because the rate at which material is covered in schools, across the nation, has increased dramatically compared to the past. Students now learn more advanced curriculum at a younger age, and this continues to become more evident year after year. High school has now become more focused on teaching students a small amount of information on several essential subjects, rather than having them focus deeply on the subjects they seek to pursue in their career.
Schools can give responsibility to students but never without a cost. Students should have to chance to prove their worth to schools and show how responsible they can be as adults. When students go to college classes as high schoolers they sometimes tend to have more free time during those times. If a child has enough responsibility to take those classes they should have enough to leave school and be trusted to come back to school after their free time is over. Although leaving school early is not something that is smiled upon it should be because some students are ahead and can work their schedule to allow extra time because of hard work in early years.
