Cheating Nature: Should Humans Bring Back Extinct Species? Modern-day genetic technology has granted mankind with the opportunity to bring back extinct species from the dead. If humans have come to possess the DNA from an extinct animal population, it is possible to create an identical clone of the animal in question, effectively “bringing it back from the dead”. Many ethical dilemmas surround the practice of de-extinction, and rightfully so. Recreating an extinct species could produce groundbreaking scientific breakthroughs, generating exciting opportunities for future genetics-based research. Who wouldn’t want to see a Wooly Mammoth traipsing across the tundra, or see witness and laugh at the odd sized Dodo Bird? Although the spectacle of witnessing such animals is certainly fascinating, it is this attitude that makes the practice of de-extinction, in my opinion, morally incorrect. Reviving a species solely for entertainment purposes is inhumane. And due to the fact that releasing a revived species into the wild could be disastrous, the animals would have to reside in zoos, where humans could gawk at them for the rest of their lives. The way we are supposed to be able to bring back extinct species is by using a way that scientists found called “CRISPR” tecnology. Obviously “CRISPR” is an acronym, but for what? Well CRISPR means: Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats. We may even be able to use the same prosess to bring animals out of endangerment. There are some benefits to bringing them back too! (i’m not gonna count ‘because it would be cool’, but I Mean, how cool would it be to just have a huge wooly mammoth walking around!) If you watch the news often you would know how some people have exotic pets like, Deer, Big cats, Snakes, etc. I would never own/take care of an exotic pet because they could harm you at any second of the day (Or night). Exotic animals are called exotic for a reason, they are very dangerous animals. If you own a exotic animal you need t be very careful because if you make one bad move they might attack you or do worse. Exotic animals shouldn't be held captive because they need to learn new skills (Running, Climbing, Hunting.)
