The definition of love is to have a feeling of strong or constant affection for someone. However, loving someone can also be a tragic, sad, terrible thing. Romeo and Juliet were supposed to be enemies because of the family feud. They were supposed to hate each other. They were supposed to not fall in love with each other. . Nevertheless, they fell in love at first sight, then got married the next day. No one knew about this besides the people they trusted the most. In Contrast, Lord Capulet sets up a marriage for Juliet, not knowing that she is already married to thy enemy, a day earlier than planned. This is where everything went downhill. Juliet had to take the sleeping potion before the wedding to make herself presume dead. However, Romeo did not receive word about the plan that Juliet was not actually dead. “I will not marry yet; and, when I do, I swear it shall be Romeo, whom you know I hate rather than Paris” (III, V, 20-22). This states that, Juliet is telling her mother that she will not marry Paris but in fact, Romeo. Moreover, Shakespeare shows Juliet as a disobedient child for making an impulsive decision by not listening to her parents. Next, “Now, Tybalt take the ‘villain’ back again that late thou gavest me; for Mercutio’s soul is but little way above our heads... either thou, or I, or both, must go with him” (III, i, 21-25). Furthermore, this shows that Romeo wanted Tybalt to take back what he said about him being a villain, then infers that Mercutio is in the Heavens now so either him, Tybalt, or both of them will have to go with Mercutio.
