Sometimes when people are amongst conflict, they act impetuously in certain situations. In the play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, careless actions take place by the characters when they are put into stressful and difficult situations. They are not thought through and result in consequences for more than just themselves. In Romeo and Juliet when in the midst of conflict, characters tend to think and act impulsively and not think of the reaction to their actions. They do not think of the consequences their actions may bring, or how they may affect others in the future.
To begin, in the play Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare makes a point in emphasizing the feud between the Montagues and Capulets. The feud shows how they are all just living in the moment and not thinking about how this feud could affect others living presently and also in the future. They are not thinking rationally but instead are stuck on the fact that they both think they are better than one another. need each to get through a certain situation but because of how long the feud has gone on for, it may just cause even more arguments between them. Then, Romeo and Juliet made a very negligent move by deciding to run away when they were in a tough situation.
Even though they were not allowed to be together, it didn't mean that they had to kill themselves. They thought in that moment that the best idea for them was to run away. They didn't tell anyone and pretended like nothing was going on. Just because Romeo was banished and Juliet was a Capulet meant that they could not see each other, but if they wanted to they could have tried to think of a better idea than running away. They might have to run away in the future if they want to be together but they did not really give anyone a chance to even think about the idea and give it a chance. Throughout their plan, Romeo was supposed to get a letter explaining everything but it was not delivered which resulted in his and Juliet's
life. Later on, at the end of play when Romeo and Juliet both die is one of biggest, most thoughtless moves. Romeo only killed himself because he thought that Juliet was dead. It shows how much he cares and loves her but also shows how he wasn't thinking of his family and their reaction to his death. Same with Juliet, once she saw that Romeo had drank the poison she didn't want to live anymore and would rather die. If she had more time to think the situation through, she might not have killed herself because of her family and the fact that she would be leaving them behind to suffer. In a way, she is punishing her family by killing herself because of them not letting her be with the guy she loved even if he was a Montague and she was a Capulet. Their deaths result in loss and grief for their families which they did not think of before killing themselves. In conclusion, the poet shows the characters, throughout the play, impulsively acting and not thinking their decisions through before making them. In Romeo and Juliet, each character at some point in the play had a reaction that could have been better thought out and ended a different way. The feud could have been stopped a lot earlier and caused a lot less problems and deaths within the families. If Romeo and Juliet thought through their plan of running away and also if Romeo would have received the letter, it would have ended much different and less lives would have been lost. Throughout the whole play, many decisions were made without much thought while in a strenuous situation.

Conflict has many different meanings for both physical and verbal abuse. Conflict could be a viscous feud or a full on physical fight. These days in television soap dramas we intend to see more verbal conflict than physical violence. But over the last couple of years new television programmes have been released which contains a lot of action-packed fighting and physical conflict of some kind. Some programmes include physical and verbal conflict including, “Eastenders”, “The Bill” and other programmes similar to these. The releasing of films such as, “Indiana Jones”, and “Rambo” catches the audience’s attention by involving action-packed, exciting features such as heavy arguments or thrilling battles. Some films are made to include action and excitement but when audiences watch it they cannot help feeling sorry for the victim or just generally sad for the people having the fight. In the same way Romeo and Juliet presents conflict more intense than most soap dramas. When the play was first performed in “The Theatre”, in Shoreditch in the mid 1590’s, the Elizabethan audience was shocked at how Juliet disobeyed her father and also how Romeo and Juliet disobeyed their families. Sympathy must be felt for the audience because they would have never known the idea of a son or daughter disobeying their father. The law at that time stated that the daughter was the property of her father until the daughter got married then her husband “owned” her as property. In Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, the star-crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet killed themselves due to the conflicts between the Capulets and the Montagues, Romeo and Juliet’s families. Regardless of the differences in reactions regarding the conflict between the two families, both Romeo and Tybalt are characters that act before they think, causing an unfortunate effect on the tragedy of the play.

When one looks closely at the story of Romeo and Juliet, one will see that it is a story with many ethical aspects. The first ethical concern was the two feuding families. How moral is it to hate someone only because they have a certain family name? This all come from a time period when people were fairly focused on religion, which teaches us not to hate. I also question this because I think it is ironic that both Romeo and Juliet seem to be fairly religious, since the first person Romeo went to for help was Friar Lawrence, and a few scenes in the play took place in or around the church. I think that this hatred is especially bad in the case of the Capulets and the Montagues, because I was always under the impression that the families had been feuding for so long that no one really knew why they hated each other anymore. This was the beginning of the problems for Romeo and Juliet. They had a moral decision to make. Should they stay true to their families, and deny their love, or should they stay true to their feelings and disgrace their families? In order to resolve this dilemma, Romeo turns to Friar Lawrence, who perhaps could be seen as the most moral character, to begin with. Because he was a holy man, he was the most logical confidant of anyone in the play. People see men of the cloth as reliable and a good source of advice. Of course, Friar Lawrence has every intention of helping the two lovers, also hoping that he could reunite the feuding families. However, unbeknownst to him, everything he will do throughout the play will have an unnerving consequence. No matter what he did to correct what he had done wrong, it only drug him deeper into trouble. Who ever would have thought that by marrying the two young lovers, he would have caused all of this heartache for the families, and really for all of Verona? No one ever considered the fact that two young people wanting to get married would have affected the entire city. Friar Lawrence was only trying to be a good friend and ally, but everything he did just ended up backfiring for him.
Impetuous actions can dramatically alter the life of anybody in many ways. The lack of thinking things through and acting solely on one particular emotion can lead to unanticipated results. In William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare shows how impetuous actions combined with the need for lust can lead to a tragic end. It wasn't fate but rather Romeo and Juliet's hasty actions that brought their untimely deaths.
