I believe if you stay in the gym and work as hard as you can you can make it anywhere in any sport if you wanted to. But the main one I am talking about is basketball because I am in the gym most of the week days except for the weekends and with all hard work on finishing at the rim working on my off hand and shooting I think I could be a good player. Plus, if you are not working hard you can tell because you will never get better because if you do not mess up you can tell you are not trying hard enough. But when game time comes around it should be easy for me to do all these things because I have been in the gym working on them. Plus, I believe in basketball and sports because I think they can get me out of where I am now because I am never …show more content…
Everybody was happy and when they won we threw a big party for Kobe and ever since that I knew I wanted to be like him because he was hitting all these clutch shots. Because it was game seven and the lakers and celtics were just going back and forth winning games but Kobe was scoring so much and Derek Fisher was a sharpshooter in the last game it just seemed like he could not miss that is exactly what I wanted to do so I started to play basketball. It worked out but I have to stay in the gym and continue to work on all the things I been working on until I get to the point when I get in the game it is to easy for me to score and I have to focus on defense. The gym is like a home to me anyways because that is mainly where I am at and for a happy place for everybody else is like vacations and reading and all the other stuff but mine is the gym. Because when I am in there I just feel relaxed it is just like nobody can stop me from what I do best. But the main thing that inspired me to work harder and stop playing around is when I did not make the basketball team 7th grade year the coach told me I would have made it but I was acting stupid in the
I have been a four year letter-winner in volleyball and basketball. Athletics have been a crucial part of developing my character and work ethic. In sports, you must work together with your team to reach your goals. Trust and communication skills are vital and are tested every day. The failure and setbacks I have faced through sports have helped me to believe in myself and have the self-confidence that it takes to be successful in athletics and in life. As a senior captain of the volleyball and basketball teams, my leadership has improved tremendously as high school has progressed. Being a leader holds me accountable and I aim to be a role model for younger teammates on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.
Athletics have influenced my career goals because it has taught me to never give up on what I believe in and what I want to achieve. Sports have also taught me that success comes with hardwork and dedication and in order to succeed in my career I have to be dedicated and spend a lot of time and effort to learn the skill of nursing. Sports have also taught me that in order to succeed in the workforce I need to be able to work with people I don’t necessarily enjoy spending time with, and again this happens in athletics but in the end you need to put your differences aside to obtain the greater
My dad used to say, " be part of something that's bigger than yourself". He always uses to force be to play sports. I chose to play basketball after seeing the all start game of 2009. Ever since I wanted to jump, shoot and Run back and forth. My dad thought it'll help be grow taller, which wasn't the case. Basket ball is more about communication but that's not true. It is about hard work, percesion, trust, being punctual and most importantly dedication. Through ethos, logos and pathos I will elaborate how being on the team change my
Once again, the next year, I was on the All-Star team. This time we were all determined to stay in the tournament and win the championship. We started off lousy, though, making four errors in the first game and losing 4-0. We now had to win every game and beat the last team twice. We did defeat every team we went up against, including the team that beat us the first game, and once again ended up in the championship game.
The thing that brings me the greatest joy is physical activity. I love outdoor sports and working out in the gym. During my school years I actively took part in football and basketball competitions, and then with the growing awareness about fitness and general health turned towards the gym. Working out in the gym proves to be a stress buster for me, provides me with increased energy levels and gives me enhanced confidence. This helps me to focus more clearly and bring situational awareness to all my endeavors. My quest to keep testing my limits gives me the confidence to handle new challenges and strive for excellence in all my goals. Exercise and other physical activities keep me calm and make me feel at
In my life, I had not had the chance to be a part of something that influenced me much, until I joined football my freshman year in high school. Joining football was perhaps the most devoted and wisest thing that I did because shortly after joining I began to see changes for the better, and from then I saw the person that I wanted to be in the future. In other words, it shaped the person that I am today and will be for the rest of my life. Not only did the sport influence me but it also equipped me with a new mindset that affects me today in my decision making skills, time management and many other beneficial life virtues. I believe that these virtues will bring me success in the nearest future because I feel confident about myself and I feel more in control in my life through my actions, all thanks to simply joining what seemed to be a “regular” extracurricular.
Exercise Science is a field of work that is valued by many. There are different paths for different kind of people whether they are interested in personal training, physical therapy, or even some kind of sports coach. The route I would like to take would be Exercise Science for Athletic Training. I want to be an Athletic Trainer because growing up, I loved playing and watching sports. I played baseball for about 2 years, ran track for 3, and played basketball my entire life. After my high school career, I knew that I could not stay involved in sports because all of the injuries I have experienced so I decided I wanted a job that is behind the scenes but still rooted in athletics.
I’ve always been the type of person that truly enjoys athletics and have participated in nearly all sports offered to me. I started playing sports in elementary with club softball and basketball. As I entered my middle and high school years I was able to add the school sanctioned sports to my list of activities. This afforded me the opportunity of competing in volleyball, basketball, golf, track and softball. The camaraderie and life lessons of sports seemed invaluable to me.
Throughout my life, my work ethic, my mental strength, and the skills I have learned, are largely because of my athletic background and all of the things I have gone through with them. To be good at sports, one does not have to
Why should you be physically active and maintain proper nutrition? Because physical health is determined by a combination of controllable and uncontrollable factors. It is crucial that all the possible methods are taken to remain healthy. Physical fitness and nutrition are two of the most important methods anyone at any age can execute to reach/maintain their health goal. In this essay, I will go over both.
Sports has been a passion of mines since I was a kid. It was not until the end of tenth grade that I realized how much basketball had influence my. Playing basketball is a way for me to escape from the real world. Playing basketball made everything feel better and made me happier. It also taught me valuable life lessons, such as never given up on my dreams whether it seems impossible. I can not imagine my life without sports and what a better way but to work in the sports industry. My personal goals for getting a degree in Sports Management is to go professional and give back to the community. The reason I want to give back to the community is to help kids find what they love young and let that be their inspiration to be better and to dream
I believe in never giving up or quitting, when it comes to sports. To me I believe that if you give up or quit something like sports you will also give up or quit whenever you don’t like a job or task that is given to you. This idea has been instilled in me my whole life by my parents, they always told me to never give up or quit even when things didn’t go right with coaches, or games, or injuries. There was a time during my freshman year of basketball that it was really hard not to give up or quit. That year I had a coach say some not nice things to a couple of players because they had to do a yearbook dedication ceremony after our game that night and weren’t in the locker room after the game.
I have throughout my whole life been playing sports. I still play basketball competitively and now it’s at the university level. Basketball though was not my first love when it came to playing sports. It has though become my true focus since junior high school. Coming from Canada everybody plays hockey. Its almost as if as soon as you learn to walk you learn how to skate. Whether it is at the recreation centre or at the shinny rink around the corner everyone plays. Eventually I abandoned hockey to play basketball which I have done so for the last twelve years of my life and hopefully a few more years into the future.
The gym where I train and workout, the Dubuque Martial Arts Group, is a place where I know who I am. It is a place I can go to escape my problems for a while and release some stress. It's not the actual physical building, but rather the events that have occurred there over the years. It's where I have formed some of my closest friendships. It is the place I have invested years of hard work for many of my accomplishments. To some it may seem odd that a place associated with sweat, blood and physical pain mean so much to someone. However, in my eyes it's almost like a second home.
... I can hear the fans chanting, yelling, and cheering for my team. When I make a shot and they cheer for me, I get the feeling of being liked, or even loved, by other people. When fans come up to me after games, say my name and tell me I had a good game, I get happy. Naturally, smiles come to my face when the younger kids tell me they look up to me and want to be as good or even better than me one day when they grow up. To be loved because of my work on and off the court is a privilege. I strive to be a person of integrity, a leader, and a good role model because the game I love has given me the opportunity to set a good example and have it be noticed and copied. When I am featured in the newspapers or online media sites about the good things I am doing, I fill up with joy. But it is a joy not just about basketball, but where it will take me in other realms of life.
