Our phone stores all kind of information about you. Your phone is a mobile encyclopedia about you, your family and your friends. Ultimately, things that make cell phone so useful also puts data privacy at risk. As a user myself , you should make sure you know what information is stored n your
To start off with, you cant just give out information to anyone. You must give out only the basic information. If u decide to give out more then the information that's needed that puts you at a high risk of getting your information stolen. According to passage 1 " Social Networks Can Jeopardize Your Data Privacy" Hadley Jones says " This can be he user's first and last names, and email address, for example. Some networks go further and ask about user's interest, activities, or location. In many cases, the idea is to facilitate conversations online between users
Police being able to search your phone without is warrant is a violation of privacy and the fourth amendment. This is an ongoing issue that is currently in the Supreme Court and state courts, which have split opinions on the issue. The courts are having a lot of trouble grasping what to compare a cell phone to as far as searching it. A big case that they are comparing searching cell phones to is over 40 years old and it involves a police officer searching through a cigarette box and finding drugs. A judge in the 9th circuit against warrantless search debunked the cigarette box comparison by saying phones are more like a suitcase, except the suitcase contains everything that you have ever traveled with in your entire life, then some. Though that is a better view on the situation, it is still a very narrow view on what personal data really is. Who cares if the police can search your phone? Well when they do, they will learn more about you then you ever knew about yourself. Do you really want a stranger knowing everything about your personal life, it would almost be like living in a glass house with no doors and bright lights on all night (KOPAN, 2013).
You might think that it is not possible for information from your telephony metadata to reveal enough about a single person to cause harm, but it can actually expose an extraordinarily large amount about our habits and our associations. For example, calling patterns can reveal when we are awake and asleep, our religion (for example, if a person regularly makes no calls on Eid day, or makes a large number of calls on Christmas Day), our work habits and our social aptitude, the number of friends we have, and even our civil and political affiliations. It cannot be denied that modern terrorists, online, are a real risk. This is how they contact each other, learn to make bombs and carry out attacks, they can even, without resorting to illegal means, gather at least 80% of all information needed about the enemy (with a risk now much higher, thanks to Edward Snowden). Also, it is through the internet that the NSA can recognize and prevent attacks before they even happen, which has happened over 50 times since 9/11. Of course, we can 't stop every attack, but it is unnecessary for citizens to have to live their lives knowing they 're being watched without consent.
We keep all our data on there, our pictures, contact list, and emails. It’s understandable that app companies and the government agencies would be tracking our smart phones and using it as a target to get our personal information. No doubt, a push of a button we are able to install an app, but we have to realize that not all of them are meant for entertainment purposes. Those apps are a good reason why identity theft is so high. Instead of being so quick to install the apps look for the privacy policy and get informed on the data it
Millions of people all around the world are using Smartphones, like iPhones, which turns out to be crucial part of our lives. Even if you consider the amount of information available about people on the internet through MySpace or Facebook that can only lead to potential risk of identity theft. Hackers try to get inside your computer and get personal information trash, email, or phishing to lure internet users to bogus websites. The best way to protect against identity theft is not to give out information over the internet, always call the service provide to verify the issue (Ebert & Griffin,
Over the past few years, technology has grown to be the driving force in human productivity and efficiency. Technology has been incorporated into our everyday lives to help us perform daily activities and bridge long distance communication. Although technology has brought us many advantages, it has also created quite few ethical issues along the way. Some of the biggest ethical issues technology has created revolve around cell phones. These issues include cell phone tracking and using the cell phone to cheat. Cell phone privacy can be compromised in many situations regarding phone call tracking and messaging. Cell phone use is also starting to be abused by students and other test takers to cheat on tests. Even if the person has good moral standards, sometimes the right decision to make is not always clear.
"How dangerous could a cell phone actually be?" That is one of the many questions a person will ask themselves throughout their lifetime. Cell phones cause many distractions to humans throughout the day. Many cell phone owners find themselves checking their phones for messages and notifications even when the phone did not vibrate or ring. The overuse of cell phones will have negative effects on the mental and physical health of its users, will cause driving distractions, and will have a negative impact on the communication skills of humans.
Also some people make fake accounts so be watchful of the different people out there. Also read what you post before you post it because some out-correct can make a word different and change the outcome of the reader's reaction. When online also ask your parents first to see if you can put on a firewall or if you’re allowed on certain sites because you parents know what those bad sites are. So, make sure not to share any personal information online and remember everything is public no matter what when you are
...n. While many people don’t realize it, there is always risk when you use the internet. You must be able to know how to defend yourself against these attacks or you risk losing it all.
From the Research that I have done I have found quite a lot of risks for mobile phones. Every phone from different countries has different Security risks. Different risks affect people differently; some are on a really small scale and some risks which can ruin people’s lives.
Hopefully, in the near future, there will be some legislation passed to protect our privacy rights but even then remember you are the best defense against any personal information that may cause damage to yourself.
Have you ever lost your phone? Then your heart starts racing, and then you become stressed out. Where can it possibly be? You look all over the place, this will cause you to be very conscientious. Having your cell phone gives you a sense of security and confidence throughout the day.
Many of us see cell phones pessimistically, but really haven’t looked at them optimistically. We all know that "with every good, comes a bad, and with responsibility, comes consequences".
However, much like any other part of the internet, social networks can be frought with serious security risks, both for your person, and your data.
