An executive summary sums up your entire business proposal in two to three pages. It is an overview of the important points contained in the business proposal. The executive summary makes it easier for the target audience to gain an insight of what the document is all about.

Before writing an executive summary, you will have to have written the business proposal already. There are different approaches to writing an executive summary such as using a business planning template, writing it from scratch or using a software. Keep the document aimed at the potential clients (the key audience) all throughout the process. In this section, you can refer to one or two previous projects that match your readers' requirements, so they know that your track record will suit their needs. Doing so will help you gain their trust as well as encourage them to pay more attention to the rest of the document. This segment should connect the first paragraph to the next section which indicates the product and services featured in your business proposal. Keep it under five sentences and less than a hundred words.

Products/Services

In this section, describe briefly the type of products/services contained in the business proposal. Mention the key customers, partners, and level of expertise. List the main ideas and strengths of your business proposal and state the facts that make it unique. State the long-term result in terms of profits/success and state whether there are any risks involved.

Give highlights on how your solution will address the issue at hand. This will prove that you read and understood the Request For Proposal and that your proposed solution matches their needs.
