The new change of order in meeting the needs of individuals, families, and communities with a multicultural perspective. The growing number of immigrants, birthrate demographics, and the civil rights movement of 1950s have changed the perspective of the medical field, human services, and other professions within the helping field. Job opportunities and managements of various services are no longer based the demographic of white male or white middle class families, but based on the diversity within cultures. In the past decades, the number of immigrants that have entered into the United States has risen to an unprecedented number. Geert Hofstede’s cultural dimensions theory—“a framework for cross-cultural communication” (Hofstede & Hofstede, n.d.). It describes the effects of a society’s culture on the values of its members, and how these values relate to behavior. For example, Freud’s view on human nature illustrate that the id portion of individuals conscious is the negative force contributing to their unfavorable behavior that must be controlled. International cultures like national cultures depict “groups of people with the same traits and patterns through diffusion, migration, colonization, and the expansion of multinational organizations” (Kottak & Kozaitis, 2012). Most noticeably are religious groups or organizations such as Muslims and the Catholic Church. The difference between the two cultures, national cultures are referred to the experiences, beliefs, customs, and values shared by the people who have grown up in the same country.
