Incivility in nursing Incivility is an issue that has been going on in the health care field among the staff. Incivility is a rude and negative behavior or attitudes towards other staff, that can leads to threat if not taken care right away. An example of incivility would be making jokes of other regarding their religious of ethnicity. Nurses have to quit their jobs because of incivility and not telling anyone about it (Luparell, 2011). This incivility at work place affects the victim ability to work, their psychological, and causing them to have an unbalance living (Elmblad, 2014). Among the nursing staff, they claimed that it is hard to complete their task because of the poor communication resulting from the incivility. This had a great impact on patients’ safety because nursing is all about communication with other health care providers in order to deliver the best care to patients. If communication is not effective, chances are error will occurs. For example, nursing needs a good shift report from the nurse in the previous shift in order to understand the patient’s condition and provide for them the best care that shift, but if they do not receive a good report or a thoroughly report that causes them to miss something that the patient will need or have had, error will then …show more content…

Both of my articles about nursing incivility comes from CINAHL database from the school library. When searching for an article, I always minimize my search by filtering the date to within five years, since it is the rules of APA format. In this case, I would have to filter the article showing up starting from 2011 until today. Second, I will filter out the articles that do not contain full text, because I like article that contains PDF file, which gives more information through the full text. When looking for articles, I tend to skim through and see if the articles are a quantitative and qualitative method of research. I found quantitative articles gives me a better understanding of a topic, since it contains data and statistical research it is easier to see the differences and outcome of a topic. However, the type of articles are depends on the topic as well. For the topic that I chose, quantitative data would support it the best rather than
