Examples Of Freedom In America

When I think of America, I think of opportunity, and freedom. Out of a plethora of different freedoms we have, two of them stand out as being the most personal to me. The first one is democracy; where we, the people, have the choice to select our nation’s leaders. We are not stuck with a royal monarchy, where the reigns are passed from one family member to the next. A dictatorship, where one man or woman leads with complete authority in every sphere. Or communism; a system where all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state. In contrast, American citizens have the complete right and authority to freely vote on which candidate is considered to have the best policies on local and foreign affairs, as well as moral values. I cannot imagine living in a place where that is not the case.

The second freedom I possess as a citizen of the United States and is the most personal to me, is the freedom of religion.

Where I can live my beliefs and practice my religion without being concerned of any consequences from the government, whether it be Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, or Christianity. Any and every religion is accepted in this

country.

I find that as one being born and raised in America, I sometimes take my freedoms for granted. When hearing the news, or reading about other countries, however, I am quickly reminded of how lucky I am to live in the land of the free.
America means equal opportunities for both men and women, diversity in culture, democracy, and freedom of speech. We have the right to practice our own religions, vote for our nation’s leaders, and speak openly about what we are passionate about. I am proud to be a citizen and to call America my home.
