The main character, Macbeth, shows several emotions while he commits murders and leads his country. Macbeth murdered the king to become the king himself, and slowly went insane over time, which influenced his emotions. Macbeth began to become angry and anxious about his leadership, and eventually looked to the witches for help with his anxiety. During the play, Macbeth is greatly influenced by his emotions of anger, greed, and anxiety. To begin, Macbeth shows his greed when he attempts to kill Fleance after killing Banquo to keep his spot on the throne. First of all, Macbeth shows his anger when his wife questions his manhood when he ponders going against killing Duncan for the throne. Lady Macbeth says to him, “When you durst do it, then you are a man” (Shakespeare 1.7 49). This shows what Lady Macbeth said to make Macbeth angry. Continuing on, Macbeth gets irate when his messenger sends word that Malcom is coming with a huge army. Macbeth reacts to this with anger, as he yells at his messenger to leave the room. This example shows Macbeth’s crippling mind, and his burst of anger. In closing, Macbeth has spurts of anger when his manhood is questioned by his wife, and when he is told of Malcolm's army approaching him with the woods. To begin, Macbeth’s anxiety is shown when he begins to go crazy, because he is anxious that he might lose the throne to Malcolm. In Act 5, Scene 5, Macbeth says, “Liar and slave.
