Animal Farm, by George Orwell, shows many examples of dystopian literature. Most importantly, Animal Farm is an example of dystopian literature because of the use of propaganda is used to exert fear upon the animals and the leader, Napoleon, is worshipped by the other animals. The reason for George Orwell writing the book is that he is trying to explain how bad a government can be. In this case, he is talking about the Russian government. He really has a good way of showing how bad the government is when someone has too much power. The reason he couldn’t write about it directly is because if the government would have seen it, they would have gone after him and the book. Animal Farm. (Ch.6) These explanations that are told to the animals by Squealer are false, they are actually the pigs mistakes, but they don’t want to admit that. (Ch.6) All in all, that is another reason of how this novel is an example of dystopian literature. Lastly the leader, Napoleon is praised by the other animals on the farm. An example of this is that Boxer maxum is “Napoleon is always right” which shows the influence that he has over the other animals. (Ch.6) Another example is that he doesn’t want the animals to think about rebellion, so he bans the song, “Beasts of England”, which is a song about the revolution. Then he gets a song made about him and he is praised in it, of course. (Ch.7) This helps show how little freedom the animals have, and how Napoleon has unlimited authority. This also can help explain how the pigs are getting very greedy with their power. In conclusion, Napoleon’s rule demonstrates another example of how Animal Farm is a piece of dystopian
