The story of Hamlet by William Shakespeare is a wondrous tale of ghastly drama, Exhilarating action, spiteful revenge, and most importantly honor. The idea of honor is greatly stressed in this play proven through all the difficult feats Hamlet had to accomplish before ultimately achieving his goal towards the end of the play. Hamlet was indisputably the key example of honor throughout the story proven through all of his bold actions. This play showed just how far Hamlet would go for the honor of not only himself but his family as well.

Hamlet endured severe tragedies throughout the play that shaped his character. Hamlet had come back from his schooling in Germany back to his throne as the prince of Denmark due to his father King Hamlet’s death. His father had come back to their castle in ghost form to explain to Hamlet how his uncle Claudius had murdered him, “Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder” (Act one scene five). Some may argue that Hamlet had no respect for his father's late wishes by not trusting the genuineness of his spirit by hiring a group of actors to re-enact his father's murder in front of Claudius to see if he is guilty, “lest my extent to the players, which I tell you must show fairly outward, should more appear like entertainment than yours, you are welcome but my uncle-father and aunt-mother are deceived” (Act two scene one). Just the fact that he is very careful and wants to be one hundred percent sure, however, proves not that he doesn’t trust his father but he wants to make sure his revenge surely has a purpose which indisputably shows Hamlet’s integrity.
