As one of the most important aspects of Acquisition reform DOD started implementing evolutionary acquisition strategies which was given preference over the other models to incorporate commercial technology at an accelerated pace and shorten the acquisition cycle. At a current pace, commercial technology acquisition happens at a faster pace than government sponsored effort taking 8 to 12 years to develop a new weapon system using the traditional model of acquisition. Traditional acquisition model does not integrate evolving technologies into weapon or software systems fast enough to provide our soldiers in battlefield technological match against future adversaries. Army slowly recognized the importance of Evolutionary acquisition and how adding mature technology capabilities through block or spiral upgrade is the best way to address continuously changing needs of our warfighters. As a PM, some of the important aspects that we need to keep in mind while dealing with evolutionary acquisition are the following:
• Assessing Technology maturity: The principle behind EA is to take advantage of emerging technology when it is mature. So, PMs need to stay

Increments may vary in time to develop and integrate. If done serially, they can extend the program schedule and adversely impact the ability to deliver capability to the users in a timely manner, which was the purpose of evolutionary acquisition. Managing parallel development is challenging but not unachievable; it should not be avoided. PM’s need to be proactive and innovative to use configuration management as a tool to control the development baselines and track changes. Allow enough time in the increment development schedules for the reintegration before final incorporation of parallel changes prior to test and
...ies that it is a long and drawn out process that by the time an acquisition is produced and fielded the technology has been surpassed. The Objectives Memo also identifies the need to reform this process not only for the reason stated in the QDR but also as part of good stewardship to the America public. The difference occurs in how this change should happen. The QDR identifies that we must avoid sacrificing cost and scheduling for promises of improved performance. Sometimes off the shelf, technology now and cheap is better than waiting for the next war ender that may never come. By contrast, the Objectives Memo believes that both good stewardship and improvement of the acquisition process are achievable by implementing a management system. This system would provide information architecture to decision makers with timely, accurate, and efficient information.
Standardize procedures and project management. E.g. use the same language or coding and decoding of software.
Charles Darwin is a revolutionary naturalist, his theories and discoveries of nature continue to stand two centuries later. Even as a young child, Darwin conveyed his interests in nature and later in his career, furthered his passion as a naturalist spending his earlier years gathering bulky counts of data. While studying at Cambridge University, he accepted the request to work as a naturalist on the scientific ship HMS Beagle collecting biological and geological data. On this excursion, he visited places such as the Galapagos Islands, Australia, and other South American islands to record and collect data. The data and fossils collected confirmed that complex plant life had evolved from a basis plant life. Until 1859, when he published On the
According to the theory of evolution, approximately 3.8 billion years ago some chemicals accidentally structured themselves into a self-replicating molecule. This beginning spark of life was the ancestor of every living thing we see today. Through the processes of mutation and natural selection, that simplest life form, has been shaped into every living species.
Darwinism, the theory of evolution, is a controversial theory that is still being contemplated today. Before the 19th century scientist were puzzled by the idea of where humans, plants, and animals originated. In the late 1700s the question was first tried by a group of scientist, but they were not successful. It was not until a young Charles Darwin found interest in the subject that the discovery was finally able to become a theory. His observations led to his theory of evolution by natural selection. Although, it was a new discovery that shocked so many, Darwin and his accomplices did not realize how significant their newfound theory was. ~~~~
Natural selection is a process that affects the relative proportions of a biological, heritable trait within a population of individuals as a result of differential mating success. Humans, like all other organisms on the planet, are subject to natural selection, and have been since the birth of our species 200,000 years ago. However, a dramatic change in the pattern of human adaptation to selective pressures occurred around 12,000 years ago when humans began to aggregate in larger numbers, sustained by the innovation of agriculture. This period, known as the Neolithic demographic transition, marks the beginning of contemporary human society (Armelagos and Dewey, 1970; Karlsson et al., 2014). The statement ‘in contemporary human societies, natural selection is not a driver for genetic evolution’ does not well describe the complexities of human adaptation; while popular opinion suggests that advances in technology have separated humans from natural forces, in fact as long as there is variance in fitness which co-varies with phenotypic traits, humans will not be exempt from natural selection (Courtiol et al., 2012; Milot and Pelletier, 2013). While human societies from the beginnings of agriculture, cities, and rapid population expansion respond with ever increasing technological solutions to environmental pressures, evidence of natural selection can still be found by looking for observable, heritable traits that confer a fitness advantage to the individual that has that trait. Some of the most dramatic examples of natural selection affecting human populations within the last 12, 000 years have resulted from human adaptation to infectious disease. Several examples of natural selection acting ...
There are numerous theories that have been put across as far as the process of evolution. However, it was Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection that became the most accepted. Darwin’s theory is built on the basis that all living organisms are related but have modified over time from the original common ancestor as affirmed by (Fisher 7). Darwin claimed that all forms of life once came from non-life but as these organisms continued to mutate based on the environment in which they were in, they transformed and completely changed from the original creature. The theory of natural selection argues that those organisms that have favorable genetic traits that are most appropriate to the environment enabling them to adapt to it, stand a better chance of surviving and reproducing offspring’s in order to increase their population. The theory of natural selection in evolution claims that if an organism has inferior genetic traits, it will have difficulties adapting to its
In incremental model the whole requirements are divided into different builds. Multiple development cycles take place here. Cycles are divided up into smaller, more easily managed modules. Each module passes through the requirements, design, implementation and testing phases. A working version of software is produced during the first module. Each sub...
Evolution is consider to be the process in how organisms, like ourselves have grown and changed from other organisms before us. Psychology is the study of the human mind and the functions that would come with it. Since the theory of evolution came about in the biology world, a lot of psychologists believe that evolution has to do a great deal with how we can explain psychological and social behavior. Evolutionary psychology has been a theoretical approach to psychology that tries to point out the traits, like memory, perception, and language as changes to natural selection. Throughout history psychologist all ask the same question to whether or not evolution is a good explanation for the concepts of psychology and even today it is still considered
Evolution is the central idea that all life on Earth shares a common ancestor. The theory of evolution was essentially created by Charles Darwin, a naturalist, who traveled the world by ship, collecting and documenting plants and animals. Darwin’s theories have changed the way scientists see life. Evolution can be deemed as true, due to the evidence that exists to support it, such as ideas of natural selection, structures of fossils, and variations of DNA molecules.
The Theory of Evolution is arguably one of the most influential and impactful ideas humankind has ever had. A passionate, amateur naturalist, by the name of Charles Darwin, theorized that the evolutionary process occurred through natural selection. This idea forms the basis for many modern day ideas and has drastically affected scientific and religious philosophies. Darwin, unlike any other scientist before him, sought to explain the design of organism and their contrivances with evidence. He proposes that the design of organisms as they exist in nature is not a miracle design imposed by God as a Supreme Engineer or by humans; rather, it is the result of a natural process of selection,
Natural selection: It is defined as the process of natural adaptation to the environment by the species to survive and their existence through the production of offspring.
“Hey I been learning about something called Evolution is biology class.” I personally don’t believe in Evolution, I think it’s made up,” John told me. “Well I think it is true, because Darwin has evidence to prove it. Such as fossil records, embryology, and comparative anatomy. He also has evidence of DNA and biography/ direct observation. Evolution is real and can be proved.” I told him.
Concurrent engineering is a method for breaking down the product advancement of a vast provision into more diminutive lumps. In iterative or concurrent engineering, characteristic code is outlined, created and tried in rehashed cycles. With each one emphasis, extra characteristics could be outlined, created and tried until there is a completely useful programming requisition primed to be sent to clients.
Software evolution – is the process of making changes to a software to reflect customer and market requirements.
