In the world that we live in, people speculate as to how we, as human beings, came to exist. Some people believe that it comes as a result of a higher being and others believe evolution is the reason. Evolution is a complex process that breaks down to genetic variations, traits that become common, factors that influence evolution, and the ultimate result of evolution.
Evolution is the process of genetics being passed down from one organism to another thus resulting in the increased likely-hood of the organism surviving. For instance, if two different colored ants occupy the same environment, one ant being white and the other black, the one that best blends in with its surroundings is more likely to successfully reproduce do to the lower odds

In the gene mutation process, there are three types of gene mutations that can occur. The first type is a bad mutation. When a bad mutation occurs it changes amino acids, which inhabits proteins from functioning properly. When this happens, it can negatively impact one’s fitness. The next mutation is Neutral mutation. In this process, the mutation results in a codon that codes the original amino acid. No change happen to the protein when this occurs. The 3rd and final mutation is the good mutation. The good mutation impacts the amino acids. After it affects the amino acids, it affects the enzymes and it can increase one’s fitness. Regardless of the type of mutation (good, bad, and neutral mutation) they all fit in the category of source …show more content…
Containing and carrying over traits from a previous environment that are advantages in ones new environment is known as pre-adaptation. During the selective process, traits get passed down to future generations. An interesting thing about traits is that they do not evolve because organisms need them to evolve or to help them adapt to their environment. Traits evolve simply because of chance. For instance, according to early human swapped bite for brain, there was a trait mutation that weakened the humans jaw muscles. When the jaw muscles were weakened it allowed humans to make room for our brains to grow. The after affect was that it made human brains bigger, thus giving humans the ability to have a better cognitive capacity compared to other
Biological evolution is a change in the characteristics of living organisms over generations (Scott, 2017). A basic mechanism of evolution, the genetic drift, and mutation is natural selection. According to Darwin's theory of evolution, natural selection is a process in nature in which only the organisms best adapted to their environmental surroundings have a higher chance of surviving and transmitting their genetic characters in increasing numbers to succeeding generations while those less adapted tend to be eliminated. There has been many experimental research projects that relate to the topic of natural selection and evolution.
What is evolution? Evolution in modern terms is fairly easy to understand. Evolution is the theory that life on earth began with a single celled organism that lived more that 3.5 billion years ago that slowly evolved into many diverse creatures over time. When you break down this theory into sections you get 6 factors: evolution, gradualism, speciation, common ancestry, natural selection and nonselective mechanisms of evolutionary change.
Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection explains the general laws by which any given species transforms into other varieties and species. Darwin extends the application of his theory to the entire hierarchy of classification and states that all forms of life have descended from one incredibly remote ancestor. The process of natural selection entails the divergence of character of specific varieties and the subsequent classification of once-related living forms as distinct entities on one or many levels of classification. The process occurs as a species varies slightly over the course of numerous generations. Through inheritance, natural selection preserves each variation that proves advantageous to that species in its present circumstances of living, which include its interaction with closely related species in the “struggle for existence” (Darwin 62).
Evolution in general, is a hard concept to grasp. There are multiple factors that effect the outcome a species, for example: genetics, nurture, nature, and the environment all play an important role. It was once said that species do not survive due to the fact that they are the strongest or the most intelligent, but because that species is the most responsive to change.
In order for a species to survive, its population has to evolve. Evolution is the process of gradual change driven by natural selection to improve survival. Evolution is the explanation of how life got to its current state. Before the idea of evolution, the Bible gave the explanation of how things came to be, the Theory of Creation. Charles Darwin is credited for developing the theory of evolution.
The evolutionary theory is the concept that species evolve over time through the mechanism of natural selection of survival and reproduction. Natural selection means acting on the assumption that various living organisms were produced by genetic diversity and mutation. The evolution theory may also be referred to as the philosophizing science. This theory states that all phenomena are derived from natural causes and can be explained by scientific laws without reference to a plan or purpose.
Based off Berkeley, biological evolution is the descent of life with modification. It entails small-scale evolution, the small changes in gene frequency within a population between generations, and large-scale evolution, “the descent of different species from a common ancestor over many generations.” Evolution helps people of current time understand the history of life dating to the beginning of life. (Berkeley)
What is evolution and how does it work? Evolution is the theory of how one form of life changes into another form. Evolution also is the change in a population’s inherited traits from generation to generation. Evolution helps to explain why an animal, human, and plant looks the way it does and acts the way it does; it gives an explanation of the history of life. Genes come in many varieties, and the evolution helps to make it happen.
“The ascent of money has led to the ascent of man.”. The greatest question many have sought to answer is the creation vs. evolution debate. How did we get here? Were we created or did we evolve randomly?
Evolution views life to be a process by which organisms diversified from earlier forms, whereas creation illustrates that life was created by a supernatural being. Creation and evolution both agree on the existence of microevolution and the resemblance of apes and humans but vary in terms of interpreting the origins of the life from a historical standpoint. A concept known as Faith Vs Fact comprehensively summarizes the tone of this debate, which leads to the question of how life began. While creation represents a religious understanding of life, evolution acknowledges a scientific interpretation of the origins of life. The theory is illustrated as the process by which organisms change species over time.
Evolution is a systematic mechanism through which the modern day has evolved from his ancestors. The Darwin’s Theory of Evolution is based on the premise that we all
Abstract An adaptation or adaptive trait is a trait/characteristic that has evolved in a population of organisms which provides a functional advantage. Adaptations increase the biological fitness of a population. Fitness is defined as the ability to survive and pass genes on to subsequent generations.
Evolution is the complexity of processes by which living organisms established on earth and have been expanded and modified through theorized changes in form and function. Human evolution is the biological and cultural development of the species Homo sapiens sapiens, or human beings. Humans evolved from apes because of their similarities. This can be shown in the evidence that humans had a decrease in the size of the face and teeth that evolved. Early humans are classified in ten different types of families.
Evolution has become a controversial topic over the years and with dominant evidence, we know that it takes place even today. Evolution is a slow and time consuming process which is why we do not observe it instantaneously. To observe evolutionary patterns, you must take it in large amounts of time. Charles Darwin is known as the “Father of Evolution” and discovered much of the evolutionary concepts that we have an understanding. Evolution has branches that include change with humans, animals, sex, behaviors, survival, and extinction. Summed up, evolution is a scientific theory that states that change over time in the biotic population. The controversy of evolution has always come from opposing religious viewpoints of creationism. Natural Selection
Without evolution, and the constant ever changing environment, the complexity of living organisms would not be as it is. Evolution is defined as a process that results in heritable changes in a population spread over many generations (8).Scientists believe in the theory of evolution. This belief is based on scientific evidence that corroborates the theory of evolution. In Figure 1 the pictures of the skulls depict the sequence of the evolution of Homo-sapiens. As the figure shows, man has evolved from our common ancestor that is shared by homo-sapiens. The change of diet of homo-sapiens over time has thought to contribute to the change in jaw structure and overall skull shape.
