According to the article, Empirically Supported Treatments are treatments that have medical evidence including high-quality research to show their work. Evident-Based Practice is research findings from a collection of data through observation and experiment, formulations of questions and testing of hypothesis. EBT applies the best available research result/evidence when making decisions about health care. The therapist employs the knowledge, cumulated experience, and clinical skills. According to the article, APA endorses multiple types of research evidence such as efficacy, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, treatment utilization that contribute to effective psychological practice (APA, 2005). EBP (Evidence-Based Practice) is
client/patient/family centered in which the clinician's task is to interpret best current evidence from systematic research in relation to an individual client/patient. The goal of EBP is providing best clinical service to that client/patient on an individual basis. Both approaches focus on the client’s best care. Evidence-Based Practice cultural differences; Based on the study, ethnic and racial minorities less likely have desire to utilize mental health services, but if they do, they are less likely to receive quality care due to therapist cultural incompetence, socioeconomic limitations, and perception of their problem. As a result, clinicians may misinterpret their client’s experiences and fail to meet those client’s needs (Roysircar, 2009). As a result of these three readings, EBP can provide a source of clinical knowledge that can increase the counselor/s effectiveness with clients. It gives the best possible care to the clients. EST begins with a treatment with consideration of whether applies to a certain disorder or problem under the specific circumstance, which is more specific for psychological treatment. Additionally, one traditional therapy like CBT is the most empirically supported treatment and is cost-effective. CBT treatment works in experimental conditions and in practice (APA, 2005).
The Johns Hopkins Nursing Evidence-Based Practice Model provides nurses with a system to formulate a practice question, appraise both research and non-research evidence, and to develop recommendations for practice (Dearholt & Dang, 2012). This model guides nurses through the evidence-based research process with ease and minimal difficulty using a problem solving approach.
...le, “Recovery of evidence-based practice” highlights the importance of utilizing evidence-based practice to care for mentally ill patients. “They also found a similar consensus in requirements that mental health care be based on evidence, be focused on effective treatments and best practices, and result in measurable outcomes” (Gordon & Ellis, 2013, p. 4).

The strengths of the EMDR therapy are that it uses elements of cognitive behavior and psychodynamic to treat clients. (1).EMDR therapy has eight phases of the treatment approach, they are; in phase one is the development of the treatment plan and getting the history from the client. In the second phase of the treatment is to teach the client coping skills needed to deal with stress in a positive manner. In phases three, four, and five the focus is on the therapist assisting the client into finding positive belief to replace negative ones. In the seventh phase the clients keeps a journal for the week. In that journal the client writes down anything that may trigger any negative ima...
Catheter Acquired Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTIs) has become to be classified as one among the leading infections which most individuals end up being susceptible to acquire while at the hospital. Healthcare-associated or acquired infections (HAIs) are a significant cause of illness, death, and more often than not, have resulted to cost the tax payers potentially high medical expenses in most health care settings. ("Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality," para. 1) Due to this, 1 out of every 20 patients will end up with CAUTI within the US hospitals and this has caused Agency for healthcare research and quality (AHRQ) to embark on nationwide plans to help in the eradication and control of CAUTI incidences. ("Agency
EBP is a method of finding evidence and using it in practice: as Blaney (1986) states, it is used to assess health, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care (p.182). Finotto et al. (2013) breaks EBP down into steps as follows: Formulate a research question; find the most relevant evidence; appraise evidence; integrate evidence with clinical experience and patient values to make practical decisions; and evaluate the outcome (p.460). Carrazzone (2009) and Moch et al. (2010) argue that didactic components with EBP integrated into the education are believed to be beneficial to studen...
Counselors are very dependent on the research of others. Counselors are among many who are responsible for producing evidence based practice. Counselors have a responsibility to be eager and capable of locating and using evidence based interventions. Research reports are used to help summarize the findings of different types of research in the counseling profession. The results of a research report should summarize the findings of the research. According to Sheperis, Young, and Daniels 2010, “it should be easy for the reader to connect the findings with the stated research questions and to determine whether the finding support or refute your hypothesis” (p.239). The following are two challenges that the counseling profession is faced with when it comes to outcome research: (1) producing sufficient volumes of evidence and (2) being able to find, interpret, and use the evidence from previous research. These challenges place a limit on the variety of interventions that are available to the counseling profession. One intervention that works for one child, might not produce the same results for another child. So it is very important that research provides information that is useful and effective. The lack of studies makes it more challenging to determine whether or not an intervention is an effective solution that will improve a student’s behavior or academics. “Ultimately, regardless of how effective a counselor may be, if the problems are not properly measured and assessed, intervention is disadvantaged and treatment is comprised” (Sheperis, Young, & Daniels, 2010, p. 3). In order to best serve clients we have to complete comprehensive research and use the results to the advantage of the client.
Criteria for rating in that capacity rely on associations or organizations doing the rankings. EBP’s may incorporate a number of evidence-based practices in the delivery of services (Fixsen, Naoom, Blasé, Friedman, & Wallace, 2005).
(Wilcock ,2001) states that it is essential to break it down into occupations and science. Occupations are daily activities that provide structure for living, reflect cultural values and have meanings for individuals. In addition, the science aspect is the gathering of knowledge through systematic reviews, randomised controlled trials and available resources that informs practice. The information therapist seeks for is that which has been critically appraised by other authors for validity and interpretability when planning and implementing treatment. This evidence based practice is usually defined as'the conscientious, explicit, and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of individual patients’ (Dirette et al, 2009).
Psychological Association (2006, p. 273) defines EBP as "the integration of the best available research with clinical expertise in the context of patient characteristics, culture and preferences."
Over the last 10 years evidence-based practice (EBP) has grown substantially and is changing the nursing care delivered to patients along with the nursing work environment. Nurses are more involved in the decision making process, and are making clinical decisions with better patient outcomes (Good, Fink, Krugman, Oman, & Traditi, 2011). With technology growing at such a fast pace, new and more effective medicines, medical devices, and procedures are developed daily. Digestible sensors that monitor your bodily systems and 3D printing of embryonic stem cells, blood vessels, and sheets of cardiac tissue that actually beat like a real heart, are significantly impacting the future of healthcare (Honigman,
Dr. Porter bolsters that evidence-based practice (EBP) should be the foundation for the four patterns of knowing. For Dr. Porter, empirics is the dominant mode of knowledge because the data is objective, measured, and replicated. I agree with his logic to an extent. Dr. Porter (2012) states the population is becoming educated consumers, therefore lacking trust in healthcare professionals. Since the advent of multiple medical sites and research articles populating on Google’s search engine, consumers can read the latest EBP guidelines and question why their provider’s approach is different from research. For example, my sister, Laura, asked me who she needs to direct her concerns regarding handwashing and foaming because she has noticed the
The Center for Evidence-Based Policy defines successful intervention through statistically significant findings that indicated this intervention was effective in reducing crime or criminality. They use interventions that are proactive, strategy-focused and place-based(Weisburd, 2013). In proactive interventions they anticipate crime, disorder and other problems before they happen using crime analysis and the patterns of crime. In strategy-focused interventions they tailor their strategies and tactics to problems at hand, tactics concentrated on particular types of crimes, groups, people, or crime prevention mechanisms. In place-based interventions is focused on certain jurisdictions in high crime spots instead of random patrol. Based on these
Evidence-based practice is important to consider when researching for interventions, further knowledge, or help to guide a new idea in the health professions. Evidence-based practice is comprised of three significant concepts: respect and awareness for the targeted population’s values, previous clinical practice or experience with that population, and systematic research to establish a better understanding of what is already known about the study’s focus. These concepts are all taken into consideration when designing and conducting a study because it provides a more valid and credible source for others.
EBP changes according to the client and the particular case. The social worker has to examine all aspects before picking an intervention. A systematic review of multiple interventions research studies is one EBP that can be beneficial to generalist social work practice. My purpose for selecting this form of EBP is because every case, situation, or counseling can always benefit from researching previous treatment
